I guess my answer has to be Wii U since that's the only one coming out.

I'm hoping and thinking Playstation 4. They will still have the absolute best exclusive games.

If Microsoft need to release a new system soon it's to fix the issues of the current one, and plays BluRay

Sony shouldn't release a new home system soon, no need for that so far

How do you determine what's 'best'? Power, user friendliness, accessories...how loud it is?

All current gen consoles appear to have advantages and disadvantages the others don't. With that in mind I guess 'best' is purely down to personal preference. I'd still be curious to know how individuals determine what makes one console better than the other(s).

Personally I tend to go for whichever console has the most games I want to play. Exclusives that I want to play are few and far between, so it's rare I miss out.

When it comes to controller and disc content for special editions I prefer the PS3
About discs I'll compare RE5 Gold the disc I have with what my cousin told me about his RE5 Gold on the XBox, the PS3 has the extra contents on disc, the 360 contents are -as far as I remember- dlc with unlock code

I love my PS3, but Im willing to say it's outdated. PS4 needs to come soon, and the main focus should vastly improving RAM and making it easier for developers to work with. Graphics upgrade is to be expected. What I would love is for PS3 to offer the Steam
workshop or another Mod service so we can start seeing mods on consoles.

Consoles seriously need to start catching up with PC.

I'll most likely buy whatever Microsoft puts out.

Given how tech is pretty advanced now I'd say they'll be fairly even. Ultimately it'll come down to price and launch titles. Or at least I hope so, and they don't try to market them in such a way to push the media center capabilities of either console.

i like sony's systems because they have a 10 year life. remember how fast the xbox games stopped when the 360 came out.

Hard to say actually. Microsoft seems to be better at making cheaper consoles, that's a strength. But the xbox360 doesn't have a bluray player, nor free multiplayer. Which I'm not sure the PS4 will offer anymore though.

Just a slightly on topic question for you guys.

For you who are "hardcore" PS3/Xbox360 fans. Let's say the follow up of your favourite will be released 6-12 months after the other one. Would you buy the other one (that is: the next Xbox even if you'd rather have the PS4 and vice versa), or would you rather wait?

For me, personally, Sony's gaming system and games are so vastly superior to Microsoft's that I'd much rather wait. Also, I'm not really a first day purchaser so I'd probably wait anyway and save some money.

I would definitely wait. I'm not planning to buy my next console on day 1 anyway. Most of the time, the first models are not as good as the following. I'm glad I have a ps3 slim for instance.

    That said, having both a ps3 and a xbox360, I really don't know if I'll buy a ps4 or a next xbox.

Same here. Even if the PS4 comes first, I'll just wait for the Slim version. If they state that it is better and have less problems, then this is what I'll get.

I just hate the X-Box controller and I don't care about its exclusives, so it's an easy decision to me.

Yeah all these should be equalised next gen. XBox wil have blu-ray & Sony will probably charge. If they keep it free it will be a massive selling point to the PS4 if they can upgrade their service with things like cross game party chat, but then they are losing out on crazy amounts of money for no reason.

Well I was a Sony only man during the PS1 & PS2 days and the delay of the European launch is the only reason I bought a 360 to fill the gap. On top of that their early gen performance was terrible and by the time they got their act together I was too invested in 360 & friends on there. Now I can't really see myself changing unless all my main friends do. It's kind of even more important than which console happens to be the best next gen.

Yeah PS3 really had a weak start with some bad games. But the later ones really make up for it IMO.

but the ps3 slim doesn't play ps2 games. i'm glad i got my big fat ps3, with sensors and 4 usb ports. i also like that i could put in a new hard drive of my choice. i only have an original xbox so i could play kotor. never got the 360, but i have played my friends. one thing i didn't like was you needed batteries for the controller. i still have my original ps3 controller i let other people use, while i use the dual shock 3 of course. but the ps3 controllers last forever it seems.

i would buy a new xbox if it had a game i really wanted to play.

IF it's like 360&PS3 then I'll have to say that technically it'd be PS4 But as a gamer&fan I'll overall have to say Xbox 3!

Xbox 360 has had way fewer exclusive games But I overall enjoy them more and only PS3 exclusives I've truly enjoyed has been the Uncharted&Little Big Planet games,Plus I feel apps&features for 360 has also been way better,I find the 360's online content very worthy,Some multi-console games I've enjoyed most has also been for Xbox

BUT I really enjoy both and I'll be buying Xbox 720/Durango or whatever it end up being and PS4!

I have the PS2 to play its games. As for the 4 USB ports, I barely use one, let alone four.

I also hate that. I traded my wireless controller for one with a nice long cord attached to it. Now while my girlfriend is having a blinking light telling her to change the batteries halfway through a game, I'm carrying on, free as a bird. (the wireless VS wire controller is a subject of some debate in my house)

I got the charge&play kit for $20 for my 360 controllers,A nice long wire that lets you play as your charging..which charges up pretty fast&lasts long,Also comes with a rechargeable battery pack for the back of the controller

If X-Box gets a blu-ray player, and Playstation makes a system that is easier to program for. Then the next race could really be a close one.

I sure hope both consoles have old games being compatible,Original Xbox&360 for New Xbox and then of course PS1-3 for PS4!!

Another thing I'd love for both consoles would be cross-play like PS3&Vita,IF I get the new Xbox and I use my 360 account then I want to be able play my friends/family&random players online on same game But different consoles,Same with PS4&PS3!!
