As we all know, in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight the filmmakers took inspiration from several comic books and graphic novels. Thematically, a lot of the films have taken aspects of Frank Miller's DARK KNIGHT RETURNS and Jeph Loeb's DARK VICTORY, but a lot remains to be told from those books.
In addition, Batman Begins took a lot of elements from The Man Who Falls, the Neal Adams/Denny O' Niel issues that introduced Ra's Al Ghul, Batman: Year One and even some bits of Batman: Year Two (though the last one hasn't been officially confirmed).
The Dark Knight similarly borrowed elements from Batman: The Long Halloween and The Killing Joke.
I also found many similarities to episodes of the animated series, but that may be coincidental. Then again, it may not be. So it got me wondering, what other stories will be adapted into film this time around? Knightfall is an obvious choice with the confirmation of Bane, but is it really that important here? These films take place during the start of Batman's career, it's still the 'early years' in terms of story, what other story is there left to tell? And what elements from DK:R and DV were left out in the previous films that can utilised this time around?
