But that's not the point. the point is, these things actually have a possibility of happening!
Sony was actually discussing the possibility of a fricken "Aunt May: The Spy" movie!

That doesn't mean they will happen. It's a possibility, yes, but that doesn't mean it will happen. I highly doubt that they will make an aunt May movie, like who in their right mind would want to see that??!

I don't ever see Tobey coming back (although I would like to see that happen) and I think he's a bit too old at this point. I don't want to see anymore TASM related films, so I think the best thing to do is reboot WITH Marvel Studios!

Now you're getting it. :)
The answer is simple my friend. NO ONE!
Sony actually thinks it's a good idea. It just goes to show, they don't know how to handle this franchise.

The fact that the Aunt May movie was even brought up at all is really concerning. Whoever came up with that idea in the first place should just be fired.

Not until the person who suggested Garfield be replaced by Ryan Gosling is fired first. :whatever:
You mean Amy Pascal? lol

I think she only suggested Gosling as a replacement if the series was rebooted. I wouldn't consider that to be a "replacement."

Oh god, that was Amy Pascal? The one person at Sony I've been defending most out of all of this for wanting to hold on to Spidey & Garfield... I didn't know this.

Haha yes, that was Pascal. I haven't seen Gosling in any movies to be honest so I have no opinion about him being Spider-Man.

You don't want Ryan Gosling?
Let me put it this way:

I'd rather see a 3 part Aunt May trilogy of movies where she has to use her magic tricks to defeat the evil ghost of Martin Sheen's Uncle Ben than to see Ryan Gosling play Spider-Man.

Would you really though? I mean you are allowed to like or dislike an actor, but... you would be more okay with an Aunt May trilogy?

If we get another reboot from Sony, then it's game over for all Spider-Man fans (MCU fans, Raimi fans and TASM fans)

Yeah, you're right. And it's such a sad thought. If the reboot ends up being really good then I suppose Spidey fans do win somewhat. The problem is that we probably won't see a good Spider-Man movie from Sony ever again.

Well, I was exaggerating a bit. :oldrazz:

I dunno though, man, I'm really not a fan of Ryan Gosling much at all and as Spider-Man? Ugh, I don't even want to think about that, lol.

I'm honestly not sure which I'd prefer between a Sony reboot and an MCU reboot. I don't like either idea more than the other.

Well think of this: which is more likely to succeed?

If Spider-Man joins the MCU, we will most likely get our definitive movie version of Spider-Man (I use the word definitive loosely because I think that's a little subjective). It is also most likely to be a good quality film since Marvel Studios has a very good track record.

A Sony reboot is likely to fail.

I like Ryan Gosling. He's not a good actor, but he accepts amazing roles. "Drive" is one of my favourite movies

Oh believe me, I know an MCU reboot would be more popular and likely to succeed. I just don't quite agree that just because it's Marvel it'd automatically be a better movie w/ greater quality. That one just comes down to taste I guess, since I've liked the majority of Sony's movies more than most of Marvel's so far.

I... actually haven't watched that one yet. I guess Ryan Gosling turned me away from it. Do you think it's worth a watch?

Understood. Just remember that once Spider-Man is in the MCU, that's basically the Spider-Man that we will get from now on. No reboots. So I think Marvel would do a good job at establishing their version of the character for their universe since they are not hitting the reboot button. Even if their first film isn't "spectacular" (no pun intended), just having a well established version of Spider-Man in the MCU would be a good, safe start.

I've said this in the other thread. I want a deal between Sony and Marvel, something like this:

SPIDER-MAN SOLO MOVIES
Marvel Studios have creative control with assurances made to Sony (like they won't kill off the character)
Sony & Marvel co-produce the films (percentages TBD)
Disney markets
Sony distributes and keeps distribution fee
Sony & Marvel share in the profits (percentages TBD)
Sony maintains BluRay/DVD/Digital rights
Marvel maintains merchandizing rights

OTHER MARVEL FILMS WITH SPIDER-MAN APPEARING
Marvel Studios have creative control with assurances made to Sony (like they won't kill off the character)
Sony receives a license fee and/or percentage of the profits

The key is to have Marvel Studios in creative control. My ideal is for Feige to hire Greg Weisman to be in charge of mapping out Spidey solo films. Then get Joss Whedon to direct. They would cast a young Peter (17-23) and let the actor age and grow with the character. Start him in high school, about 6 months after becoming Spider-Man. Have him cameo on the NYC Netflix shows, notable Daredevil. Have him cameo in Civil War and have him appear in Infinity War (a perfect set up for getting the symbiote). The advantage of co-producing with Sony is you can get Spidey films in addition to the already announced slate, without causing delays.

If, Sony outright sells the rights back to Marvel (doubtful), I'd like a Netflix show, very similar to Spectacular Spider-Man. I'd like Greg Weisman on it as showrunner. Have the show done by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, & Maurissa Tancharoen. This is the best way to develop the character and supporting cast and explore the vast mythos. Again start in high school and work your way through college and post college. He would still get solo movies, but centered on events, like the Sinister Six and The Night Gwen Stacy Died. And of course appearances in other Marvel films and Netflix shows.

That would be perfect, Spider-Gnome.

why, in all of the nonsense of this world, would sony do that.

not asking you directly, but WHY

:lmao: your killing me lol

The fact is Sony is bleeding money at the moment, there are talks of them closing down their tv/mobile division and shutting up shop in Canada, they also lost approximately $30 million on Interview.

Marvel could at this point out right buy Spider-Man back, which could help save Sony's hide, But being realistic I think a deal will be struck between the two companies as Sony as whole are backed into a corner.
