What If's You'd like to read

That would end well for NO ONE...

Punisher + superpowers + Ghost Rider = Crazy obessed spirit of vengance with alot of firepower (hellfire bullets) who can now take on pretty much anyone on the planet, superheros, supervillains, and maybe if squirrel girl if he was prepared enough :p

Actually it was just a cover. Marvel's Millennial Visions. Inside it was reimagining, its where the Exiles got started.
But the covers where just covers, not related to anything inside other than the idea that they were re imaginings of Marvel characters.
Here Punisher is the Ghost Rider spirit of vengeance.

I'd like to read 'What if Loeb never got his hands on the Ultimate Universe?'

that would be totaly awesome! :D

What if every tragedy in the Marvel Universe was averted?
Peter Parker not only never lost Uncle Ben, but never lost his parents,
Hank Pym never lost his first girlfriend (who's death lead him to become Ant Man),
Wasp never lost her father,
Bruce Banner's father was never abusive,
Steve Rogers, while there was still WWII, the scientist who created him was never killed,
What if Steve Strange never got in that car accident?
What if Tony Stark was never kidnapped and got shrapnel in his heart?
and so on...

But just because they never had those tragedies doesn't mean they still didn't go through the accidents or get their powers,
Peter still became Spider-Man, but would he still be in New York? Would he still have become the hero he is now? Weren't his parents spies, maybe that would effect who he would have become.
Hank may not have become Ant Man, but maybe it was just a matter of time.
How would Banner have been effected by the gamma radiation if he had a good childhood?
What if the scientist who created Captain America wasn't killed? Maybe there would be more of his super soldiers?
If Dr. Strange never became the Sorcerer Supreme, who would it be?
If Tony Stark never became Iron Man would he still be such a hero now? Would he have ever invented the armor? Would he have invented incredible weapons of destruction for America?

How would the Marvel Universe look and act if they didn't have the tragedies they had?

My thinking is, just an idea, but the Marvel Universe might look slightly different (or slightly similar) but character's personalities would be different as well.
Peter Parker may have become a SHIELD agent and wouldn't have the guilt and compelling need to be responsible for everything. Maybe he would not be such a great guy, who knows.
Banner would be a more well adjusted person, possibly always able to control the Hulk.
Maybe there would now be an army of Super Soldier, or maybe Captain America would be one Super Soldier after another, when one dies he is then replaced by another.
Maybe the scientist who created the super soldier formula would have gone on to create many more things.

Peter Parker not only never lost Uncle Ben, but never lost his parents,
I had an idea for this one: the Super-Spider. The Parker's retired to a cushy lifestyle of security consultants to raise their child. They became wealthy, which is what Peter grew up with. He is intelligent (which is why he still went to the demonstation and got bit) but He did not grow up close to his parents or even his "Doddering Aunt and Uncle". He is an adventurer, think of him like Johnny Storm. He originally just wants to have some fun but he runs into a few super-villain and beats them, but doing so, he also steals their unpattented technology and adds it to his arsenal.
Bruce Banner's father was never abusive,
I think he would have turned out a little more like She-Hulk since one's gamma mutated form is dependant on their psychology.
Steve Rogers, while there was still WWII, the scientist who created him was never killed,
been done
What if Steve Strange never got in that car accident?
I think that's been done.
What if Tony Stark was never kidnapped and got shrapnel in his heart?
hmm... dunno.

Peter Parker not only never lost Uncle Ben, but never lost his parents,

Concerning the Uncle Ben thing, they did a great issue in vol.1 no.19 "What if Spider-man never became a crimefighter?" where he stopped the burglar who would have later killed Uncle Ben.

They also did "What if SM's Uncle Ben had lived?" in vol1. no.46 where Aunt May was killed by the burglar instead of Ben. Not as good but interesting.

other tragedies averted stories...

vol.1 no.24 "What if Gwen Stacey had lived?" This one is pretty damn good, love the ending.

vol.1 no.22 "What if DrDoom had become a hero?" shows what would have happened if Doom had listened to his fellow college student, Reed Richards, before going through with his experiment to contact his mother's soul, that left him scarred and deformed. Richards helps his with the experiment and it is successful. A pretty good one too.

I was reading an old 'What if?' the other night

vol.1 no.13 "What if Conan the Barbarian walked the Earth today?" at the end he gets back to his own time but they did a sequel where he did not get back called "What if Conan the barbarian was stranded in the 20th Century" in vol.1 no43
Now in the sequel issue *spoilers* Conan becomes a career criminal with his own gang of hoods. They break into a museum and Captain America shows up. Conan defeats Cap in single combat but lets him live. Cap recognises something heroic about Conan, and after another encounter outside he tries to talk Conan into putting his talents to good use. At the end you see Conan thinking about this.
That's the What If I would like to see most of all, another sequel to this story "What if Conan joined the Avengers?"

What If... Gertrude Yorkes had lived?

IN this idea, Old Lace jumps in at the last second to take the blow for Gert. Gert is hurt, but not so much that she can't escape with Wilder in tow. The idea is that as they diverge further and further, Gert asserts more control seeing that Nico is uncomfortable with being in charge (that's putting it politely). Gert leads them against the monster, but accidently reveals their hide-out in Young Avengers/Runaways Civil War. They go on the run. still wind up in New York early. They stay with Cloak, Dagger, and Father Lanthom and Gert and Chase tie the Knot (civil ceremony as neither of them is actually religious both keep their own names), they still manage to get thrown back in time, they leave Klara in the past, and when they get back to find the Invasion going on, Gert sets the Runaways to aide Fury as they have the only ship without Starktech navigation software, anti-virus, and a modest cache of weapons (she was the only person to ask Leap Frog about them). When the dust settles, it wasn't Osborne who killed the Queen, but Chase, having rushed in like an idiot and got a lucky shot in. Chase is hailed as a new Iron Man and the Runaways settle down under the tutalage of Nick Fury, has a special interest in Gert who shows remarkable strategic abilities.

I don't know, I just found that on the internets.

In Marvel most, or at least many, of the heroes are defined by the tragedies in their lives. Its not the powers that make them a hero.

So my idea was this,
What if non of the tragedies happened, but everything else did. Accidents that gave individuals powers still happened, inventions that were invented still got invented. Only the tragedies never happened.
And because some have already been done (like Gwen and Uncle Ben) what if non of the tragedies didn't happen at at once (in the same universe anyway)? What if the tragedies that molded the heroes into who they are never happened? Not just a person being alive who died, like Gwen, but what if someone was never abused like Banner, or what if Tony was never kidnapped?
So Peter's parents, Hank's fiance was never murdered, the scientist who turned Steve into Cap was never assassinated, Tony Stark (while still inventing the Iron Armor) was never kidnapped and his cellmate was never killed?
(What if Charles was never crippled, or abused by his father?)
(What if Magneto never lost his family?)
The tragedies that defined the Marvel characters never happened?
Would they still be heroes? How different would Marvel's Superhero and villain landscape look?

What if Charles Xavier (and his half brother Cane Marco) was never beaten by his father?
(How much did that influence his life's work and the creation of the X-Men?)
(Would Cane still be the Juggernaut? Would he have always been on the good side?)

What if Punisher stole Dr. Doom's Time Machine?

He'd probably wipe out all the worst criminals in history before they ever got started. Bonny & Clyde, Jack The Ripper, Al Capone, The Zodiac, Ted Bundy, Alan Fish, etc, etc, etc. And on a more personal note, he may even wipe out the mob family that killed his wife and kids a couple of years before he came back from Vietnam. But if he were to do that, would all the other changes he made to history stay changed? If he kills the mob that murdered his family before it happens, then he'd have no reason to become The Punisher. If he doesn't become The Punisher, he can't take Dr. Doom's time machine. If he never takes Dr. Doom's time machine, he can't kill Al Capone, The Zodiac, Son Of Sam, etc. God, this can drive a person nuts!

What if Marvel did the Doomsday story?
Who would be Superman?

I actually wrote an outline for this story in my own "What If" thread. It broke down into a debate over whether or not Doomsday could beat Thor. Mine was a little different as Doomsday accidentally slipped from the DC universe into the Marvel universe. My original version had The Hulk as the one to stop Doomsday. I edited it to add The Sentry to the mix. I also added The Insidious Six to the fight, hired by Kingpin to stop Doomsday from whiping out all of New York (no profit to be made in ruling over a dead city). Electro, Shocker, and Doc Oc are all killed. Rhino, Sandman, and Scorpion all survive and keep fighting. It's The Sentry and The Hulk that tips the balance in the hero's favor.

What if Curt Conners had control of the Lizard (and it was written logically)? I honestly think he'd become a hero.

What if Nick Fury never went underground? What if he fought on the pro registration side in the civil war?

What if Nick Fury never went underground? What if he fought on the pro registration side in the civil war?

The Secret Invasion would've never been repelled. Cause a man and five kids are just that damn important.

Cable and Deadpool #50.

What if Deadpool didn't kill the "saviour" in the Mithras Directive arc.

Everybody would be mind slaves.

What If ... the Punisher had Dr. Doom's Time Machine?
The Punisher breaks into Doom's old Castle, while he is trapped some place due to his last battle with the Fantastic Four.
Castle instantly uses his machine to travel through time setting right what once went wrong, in his eyes. He goes back and kills some of Earth's biggest criminals and monsters. Mobsters, killers, super villains wipe out all the worst criminals in history before they ever got started. Bonny & Clyde, Jack The Ripper, Al Capone, The Zodiac, Ted Bundy, Alan Fish, etc, etc, etc., Kingpin, Green Goblin, Red Skull, Hitler, Baron Zemo, Capone, The Zodiac, Son Of Sam, Kingpin, Red Skull, Green Goblin, etc. )
He starts off small, killing some mobsters in the past, then he gets bigger and bigger, killing Hitler and Green Goblin,
Meanwhile Dr. Doom has returned and using his incredible intellect he has deduced a facsimile of what has happened.
He knows it was stolen, and that it travelled back in time and has been used several times. And again, using his supreme mind, he creates another time machine, a more primitive one sure but it works.
So he traces the energy signatures back and is on the trail of Frank.
This whole time Frank has avoided trying to save his family. Nor has he seen the fruits of his labor.
While he travels back to finally save his family Dr. Doom attacks. He and Doom have it out all while traveling through time. Since Frank knew he would be going up against some very bad guys and travelling into who knows what, and since he had the ability to travel anywhere, he stole a few minor weapons from the Avengers and Spider-Man and such. Like an Iron Man helmet and a Pym particle or two, a repulsar blaster, some web fluid, the Vision's hard drive and SHIELD files, not much but things like that. Doom tries to tell him about all the paradoxes he has created, and how if he kills the killer he killed his family he will never be the Punisher and all that. And non of this will happen, except he slips and accidentally (in a round about way) tells Frank that as long as he exists outside of time he will remain the same and his family will be saved as well.
Eventually Frank is able to get the upper hand and kills Doom right there, leaving his body in between time forever.

He then goes to New York, and kills his family's killer before he killed them.
But he knows he cannot spend his life with them, so Frank Castle remains outside of time. Occasionally traveling through time to intervene. And occassionally looking in on the family he can never be with.

What if...
Fantastic Four #40

The FF ( because of a battle with the Fearsome Four) have lost their powers. At the same time Dr. Doom attacks by taking over their own Headquarters and using their weapons against them.
[blackout]Reed and the others make it back the their HQ with the aide of Daredevil. Daredevil helps lead them back, and then distracts Dr. Doom while they make their way up to their floor. Reed mentions a few times how he is in dept to DD and how he never would cross him, and things like that. Reed returns all their powers with a power increasing device he invented issues earlier. After which they were able to defeat Dr. Doom. Actually its the Thing who stops Doom. By sheer brute strength against Doom's mind and technology, Ben Grimm beats Dr. Doom. Humbling him, destroying his pride. But Reed says they have to let him go, he is beaten anyway, and he has diplomatic immunity.[/blackout]
This issue sparked several What If ideas:
-What if Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben, had never regained their powers?
-What if Dr. Doom used the device on himself?
-What if Dr. Doom had picked each member of the Fantastic Four off one by one as he originally intended?
-What if The Fantastic Four accidentally used the device on Daredevil?
-What if Dr. Doom has succeeded in killing one, or two, of the Fantastic Four?
-What if the Thing had actually killed Dr. Doom?
-What if the Fantastic Four, as a team, had decided the world would be safer if they killed Dr. Doom?
-What if the Fantastic Four started a war between America and Latveria?
-What if Ben Grimm, now human and powerless, before the powerless FF had decided to go after Doom in their HQ, had decided to quit the team and left them to handle Doom?
-What if Dr. Doom had killed Daredevil?
-What if Daredevil asked Reed and the team to repay their dept, what if he called in a favor from Reed?

I am sure I can think up many more, but for now this is it.

Interesting way to eliminate the temporal paradox killing his family's killers would have on the story. I purposefully avoided having Frank go after supervillains and core Marvel characters like Kingpin so as not to damage the continuity of the other Marvel stories. Of course if this is happening in an alternate Marvel Universe (like in The Punisher Kills The Marvel Universe) then I suppose it doesn't really matter. But I like the thought of him killing Hitler before the outbreak of WWII. And how about killing Binladin before 9/11? But what if he kills Dr. Doom before he becomes a supervillain (and incidentally before he can build the time machine)? Would the time machine then cease to exist even if it is outside of time?

What if Marvel did the Doomsday story?
Who would be Superman?

What if Doomsday found his way to Earth in the Marvel Universe? Here's how I see it being written...

1) When Superman sends Doomsday so far into the future that the Universe collapses, the collapsing of the universe opens a rift in the space time continuum and sends Doomsday into the Marvel Universe. He crashes on Earth and the U.S. government (thinking it's just a meteor) sends a team of scientists with a military escort. When they find the "meteor", Doomsday kills them all but not before they transmit a video image of the alien.

2) General Ross, believing Doomsday to be a Gamma Mutation, sends a team of Hulk Busters to intersept Doomsday. Doomsday destroys them all with little if any effort. Mastermold intersepted the military transmission and, believing Doomsday to be a mutant who's gone mad, sends a batch of sentinals to destroy Doomsday. They also meet with utter disaster.

3) S.H.I.E.L.D. sends in thier big guns, The Avengers, to stop Doomsday (who is now making his steady way towards New York City). Hawkeye, Giant Man, Wasp, Black Widow, and Iron Fist are killed in action. Captain America and Iron Man are critically injured and are out of the fight. She-Hulk, Thor, and Power Man are taking a beating but keep coming back for more.

3) The Fantastic Four arrive to lend assistance. Reed finds his strech powers are of little help against Doomsday and takes quite a pounding. Johnny hits Doomsday with so much heat he collapses from exhaustion without having had much effect. The only thing keeping them from being killed is Sue with her forcefield. Ben pounds Doomsday with everything he's got, only to be pounded back.

4) Doctor Doom arrives and offers Doomsday an aliance. Doomsday responds by crushing Doom's skull. Magneto arrives with Sabretooth, The Blob, Mystique, and Pyro and makes a similar offer. Doomsday snaps Magneto's neck. Horrified, Mystique assumes the form of Juggernaught and hits Doomsday with everything she's got. Doomsday puts his fist through her chest. Sabretooth and The Blob attack simultaniously, only to be sent flying. Pyro hits Doomsday with as much fire as he can muster. Doomsday breaks him in half.

5) She-Hulk, Thor, Power Man, The Thing, Sabretooth, and The Blob all team up to try to take down Doomsday. Doomsday fights his way through and is heading straight towards Charles Xavier's School For The Gifted. The Human Torch, who's recovered enough to "flame on", flies ahead and warns The X-Men. All the children, as well as any X-Man who's mutant ability is no match for Doomsday, evacuates the school. Wolverine, Cyclopse, Jean Grey, Collossus, Rogue, Jubilee, and Gambit all stay behind. Doomsday fights through them too. Rogue tries draining Doomsday's life force and ends up looking like a smaller female version of Doomsday. Collossus and Wolverine get pummeled, but keep fighting. Jubilee is killed. Cyclopse is badly injured, and only Jean Grey's telekinesis is keeping Doomsday from killing him. Gambit, however, lost focus when he saw what happened to Rogue and it cost him his life. Even with the added help of the remaining members of The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, and The Brotherhood, The X-Men are unable to stop Doomsday.

6) The Insidius Six (Doctor Octopus, Shocker, Rhino, The Scorpion, Sandman, and Electro) stand between Doomsday and Downtown Manhatten. They were hired by The Kingpin to stop Doomsday, for there's no profit to be made in a dead city. They hit Doomsday with everything they've got. Sandman, Rhino, and Scorpion fare best. Doomsday rips Doc Oc's mechanical arms off, killing him. He walks right through Electro's lightning bolts and Shocker's electromagnetic blasts. He tears them both apart.

7) Spiderman finds himself an unlikely ally in Bullseye as the two agree to join forces to stop Doomsday. Bullseye was also hired by The Kingpin to stop Doomsday from destroying New York, and gave him the most advanced antiarmour weaponry money can buy. Spidey just wants to stop this monster's murderous rampage. So they agree to team up. Spiderman engages Doomsday in fisticuffs, and during the fight attaches a web fluid reload cannister in between Doomsday's shoulderblades. Bullseye shoots it, exposing the web fluid to the air and causing it to explode, encasing Doomsday in a coccoon of extra strong webbing. The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, The Brotherhood, and The X-Men all show up and start congradultating Spidey. At this point, Doomsday breaks free and the fight is back on.

8) Just as things are looking thier bleakest, along comes Bruce Banner, who was released by the military specifically to stop this particular menace. He activates a device on his wrist, which gives him an electric jolt strong enough to trigger a metamorphasis. He turns into The Hulk and business is about to pick up.

9) Things aren't looking good for the heroes of the Marvel Universe. Hulk, The Thing, She-Hulk, Power Man, The Blob, Wolverine, Colossus, Spiderman, Sabretooth, Rhino, Sandman, Scorpion, Thor, Deadpool, all are giving their all to try to stop Doomsday. Doomsday seems just too tough for them to stop. Then The Sentry arrives to help out.

cool.gif
Between The Hulk, The Sentry, Spiderman, The X-Men, The Fantastic Four, The Avengers, and The Brotherhood, the superheroes (and even the supervillains) of the Marvel Universe finally manage to kill Doomsday... again.
