What is the future of Ben Affleck as Batman in the DCEU?

What do you think the Future of the DCEU Batman will be?

  • Bruce Wayne passes on the cowl to someone else (Terry/Dick/Damien/etc)

  • (No Change) Ben Affleck stays on for 2-3 solo movies and JL appearances

  • Recast for the future or for solo Batman movies that are set prior to BVS

  • Affleck stays but the Batman character mostly appears in JL movies

  • Other option

LOL! I know I'm a minority but I'd have a ***** if they replaced Cavill and Eisenberg anytime soon.

I think they'd have to be on crystal meth to replace Cavill (which they won't), said this all along but for me, the casting across the board for the DCEU, has been spot on.

Cavill REALLY isn't the problem..the way his character is written is.

In MOS-it's like his arc is to become Superman-and fight Zod right after. No time to see Superman "on normal terms."

In BVS-his arc is basically to be at the wrong place at the wrong time-and fight Batman.

Compare to Wonder Woman..whose arc is to
get the "Godkiller"..befriend Steve Trevor..liberate a small village..confront "Ares.." and decide to become an ongoing hero, rather than abandon humanity.

Now Eisenberg had an absurdly written character, so I feel like he decided to go full Carrey on it. Wouldn't mind a replacement.

I think he might be done, rumors are WB are looking to quietly distance themselves

I could see a hard recast after JL

Cavill hasn't done enough to justify his continued presence in the DCEU.

He's playing a divisive Superman met with apathy by general movie-goers. The Superman character is much bigger than him, and honestly deserves much better than this.

If the right director and pitch is in place, WB will reboot Superman with a fresh vision.

Wouldn't bother me at all if they cut Cavill lose. There's always Benjamin Walker.

Ok, thats fine, personally he's perfect for the role and believe his Superman/Clark to be amazing but heh, there you go.

oh you mean discount Liam Neeson? sorry, a comedian shouldn't be Superman

Im not big on Cavill, he's adequate at best, but if he is to be replaced, Im going to need someone who doesn't look like he's been shoved in a locker

He's finished.

I remember Arnold Schwarzenegger being credibly accused of serial groping, humiliation of women, even racism, and he still seems to be seen as this benign, amiable, even beloved guy.
Of course that was a different time. We now appear to be in the era of the new Reign of Terror (minus guillotines, thankfully), with the internet as the new Committee of Public Safety. So yeah, in this climate, one confirmed incident and another allegation of inappropriate touching in fifteen years should be more than enough to finish a guy.

Doesn't bode well for Affleck at all, but maybe it's too early to say.

^ In this case, I think WB should just denounce Momoa's statements and move on.

I think they should sack Affleck..things aren't looking good for him.

Affleck tends to rank in the middle as Batman on individual polls when he should conceptually be one or two. I personally think that he performed Batman the best..but Bale had much better characterization to work with.

Just having another actor in the role means they can change up elements of Batman's personality and character traits..and can function as a VERY soft reboot.

I'm totally on the Armitage train.

I've been on the Armitage train for a while. Bring it tf on.

^ I'd say joking about violating something else is worth an apology.

But to me..this is a "learn and move on thing", not "OMG he's the worst" thing.

Look. It was in reference to KHAL DROGO. The media is dredging the lake. The witch hunts need not involve people who are not perps, who've not been accused of any wrongdoing. :whatever:

I think they were on crystal meth when casting Affleck to begin with so I don't think a move like that would be impossibly unlikely.

I’m not even so sure that Affleck’s ultimate problem will be these accusations, but rather what might surface about his involvement and association with Weinstein. I hope for his sake - and for a lot of other people - that he at no point played any part in covering up, downplaying, excusing or facilitating any of Weinstein’s crimes. The media will spend the next few weeks digging hard into everyone close to Weinstein. Affleck May be able to weather the claims made against him thus far, but if he becomes entangled more with Weinstein, he’s done.

My gut says Ben is gone even without the Weinstein debacle.

I'm actually more bothered by the alleged groping at The Golden Globe awards.

But if he actually covered up Weinstein?

**** that guy.

My top choices for recast are Armitage, Hamm, Urban, and Hammer.

RA has had Batman arms before
armitage-proctor-washbasin-5.jpg

And he looks a lot like Bruce Wayne

And has a deepish voice as it is.

Really, all he has to do is nail an American accent..which he hasn't really in the past. But "things change" ;)

His American accent is fine in Hannibal and Berlin Station.

The only real problem with Armitage is age. By the time cameras roll on The Batman, he’d be knocking on the door of 47. How many of these kinds of movies can a man of that age realistically pull off?
