What is the worst kind of nerd?

Nolanites. The represent all things characterized as "the worst." Oh, and mandarin fans :o

Yeah, as much as I love that trilogy, Nolan's Batman has spawned some of the biggest loons across the internet. Those dopes are all over too. IMDB, YouTube......you name it. Commenting on stuff that has nothing to do with the movies either....

I have two issues with Nolanites…
1) They believe there is only one way to do Batman
2) They want WB to retire Joker because of Heath Ledger

Batman fans in general need to get a grip, imo, followed closely by Wolverine fans. They both act like their characters are the toughest ones around and anyone that doesn't read their books are wusses.

They're fictional characters, people!!

Alien and Predator fans are among the worst I've ever seen.

Never mention wanting to see a female Predator in the movies among them. Things get ugly. The Godzilla fandom is pretty bad too sometimes.

Gonna have to say Nolanites. Star Wars fans are also pretty bad.

Hardcore Anime nerds are pretty bad as well. Sometimes there are some folk that think anything from Japan is automatically better than the rest of the world.

There's no one type that is the worst. Every subset has those Evangelical-level extremists that seem to be defined by their fandom and are viscous to "outsiders," or "not-true-fans," that are threatened by differing opinions or the idea of change. That applies to everyone from Dallas Cowboy fans to Buffy fans to Metallica fans to gamers to D&Ders and everything in between and beyond.

Quoted for truth. End thread. :oldrazz:

True, but the real question here is which nerd fandom is the worst? Like what would top a top 10 list at this point in time? Speaking of which, I guess it also depends on context as well.

What do people here say were the worst fandoms of the 60s till now?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But it seems there might be some that come very close to criticizing darn near every comic book movie that comes out.

And they pretty much want every other superhero to be dark and realistic.

I was about the post the same point as you... that they believe Nolan's Batman is the first and ONLY good Batman. My goodness, I think most of them has never even since the previous movies...

Backstabbing nerds.

I can be guilty of this myself, but as fans we can be some backstabbing sons of *****es.

All the fans. All of them.

Bronies. There's no good in what they do.

Anyone who argues your opinion is wrong because their opinionated fact is right.

To explain further, I do not mean disagreeing about something, thinking one actor is better or worse than another. I mean the kind of person who says you think X is better than Y and it's wrong because Y is the only right interpetation, the only right way to view it, the only way possible.

To use a well trod argument: I might like Bale's Batman more than Keaton's as an example. I can list off all the reasons that I like Bale more, but those are just opinions. Keaton's defenders have a list of reasons they feel he is superior. Neither side is right or wrong, until you get someone who says that Bale is better because and they state as fact some opinion of theirs.

It's easy to fall into that trap. Stating I "know for a fact" instead of "I think that" and start to tell other people how wrong they are because they think something else.

There would be a lot less fighting if people could accept someone else doesn't agree that their view is the only view. Of course that's true of a lot of things but it especially falls true when you get to the personal, one on one level. It can feel like a personal attack to some people.
