Came home from school today to see one of these things kicking it on the tire of my car.

This was about the best picture I can find that most accurately describes what I saw. If it helps, I live in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

1. Let it bite you.
2. Great power
3. Great responsibility
4. ???????
5. Profit!

Looks kind of like a writing spider.

The Golden Orb Spider doesn't look like the picture posted.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argiope_aurantia

The spider species Argiope aurantia is commonly known as the Black and Yellow Garden Spider, Writing Spider, Banana Spider or Corn Spider. It is common to the lower 48 of the United States, Hawaii, southern Canada, Mexico, and Central America. They have distinctive yellow and black markings on their abdomens and a mostly white cephalothorax. Males range from 5 to 9 mm; females from 19 to 28 mm. Like other members of Argiope they are considered harmless to humans.

I did some further research on the orb spider, then went back down to my car to confirm that was indeed what was kicking it on the tire of my car.

Now, it may be harmless, but my question is, why did it find the tire of my car to be a good spot to set up shop?

Poor thing is gonna get pwn3d when I head out to work tonight.

The first thing I thought of when looking at the drawing was "orb weaver spider", so Huzzah! for me

Or you can let it bite you, that part of you swells up or it makes it look that part of your body is going to fall off.
Spider-bites = no fun.
Had one on my leg... looked liked my foot was going to fall off.

You have to bathe it in radiation first.

How could someone look up the picture of a spider but not be able to find out what type it was.

Spiders are the most evil beings on the planet. There are only two good spiders on the whole planet.

THat skinny guy? I can whoop him blindfolded. Not really, but I would make the first comedic MMA fight in the history of UFC.

I typed "black spider with yellow spots" into Google Images and that's what came up. And it didn't have a description of the spider (I.E. what species), just the picture.

Poor thing must be in spider heaven now tho. It was still in the same place on my car tire when I left for work today, so it either got smushed, flung from the tire, or it ran up underneath my car somewhere.

Knowing that it wasn't poisonous, I should have captured it in a jar and kept it as my pet.

Nothing to worry about .... until it gets big enough to go after birds...

Those goliath bird eaters always make me cry. Thank God I don't live in Australia.

Edit: Whoops, I got the goliath bird eaters mixed with the funnel web spider. Goliaths live in South America. So if you live there you need lots of fire.
