Hire John Sempter, the screenwriter and producer of Spider-man the animated series from the 90's, as the screenwriter for the new film

I'd prefer Greg Wiesman, if we're going that route...

That ain't happening. If Spidey ends up in the MCU, it won't be Andrew...

That's why I want at least one more TASM film before he goes home.

you don't know that man... you don't know... you don't know....

it could happen. you NEVER KNOW!! remember, oscorp tower, in the avengers...

i can't believe we still haven't heard anything about the next move for Sony

Probably too busy seeing what other Spidey characters they can give solo flicks to. Daily Bugle spin-off announcement seems imminent.

I wonder if Sony made several short one shot films, much like the type that Marvel has made with Coulson and Peggy Carter , that would fulfill the legal obligations of making new product to hold onto the rights. Something like that which could be maybe 25 minutes tops, would be something I wouldn't mind . With those you could either have one of adventures with Spiderman which wouldn't involve massive storylines or retreading old material . You could have several adventures where its literally just Spiderman in the costume the whole film , which a shorter film could do.

Depending on contracts you could either have Garfield do a few thus potentially fulfilling his contract or you could get a new actor. You could even have several of them focus on separate members of the Sinister six.

I think it would sort of take the pressure off of doing a feature length films and could sort of give Spiderman to people in smaller doses , which could then lead to a feature film if the demand is there. Plus it could serve the "world building" stuff Sony wants to do with that universe anyway , without having to gamble on people wanting to see a 2 hour Black Cat film or a Venom one shot film. But it all depends on what Sony's obligations are in order to hold onto the rights.

Their silence means either:

1- They think the rumours are hilarious and are in fact continuing their plans for S6, Venom, Female movie, and TASM3

2- They're ****ing confused

My theory is that they have an unpopular announcement under wraps (reboot no. 2?), but they're waiting for the right time.

Or simply nothing to report as they continue to move forward with their plans.

Objectively, the "Sinister Six as a soft reboot with a different actor" rumor seems to be what makes the most sense right now. Get a new kid who you can keep for 4 films and rebuild for the long haul starting with the next film.

If Spidey were to join the MCU, It'd be best to recast.

That said, I wouldn't mind them keeping Andrew on board for one or two more films before recasting.

I'd say both are plausible, leaning towards number one at the moment

Will we see a TASM3?

Honestly, if it was the Robbie vs Tombstone story, I'd go see it.

They should announce something before Comic Con. There's no way they're going to leave the franchise in limbo for that long.

If I had control:

Plan A: Move him into the MCU immediately

Plan B: Continue the current run, but dump all the people that worked on 1 and 2 except for Garfield, especially making sure to replace the writers and director. 1 was bearable, 2 was abhorrent.

Something just hit me. Dracula Untold failed with critics and audiences both stating that making Dracula a hero instead of a villain felt forced and alienated them. Now picture Sinister Six with Doctor Octopus being made into the protagonist and think about how both critics and the general public will react?

More importantly, what's going to be different this time around and if people didn't like TASM2, then what's going to be different this time to win them over with a premise that people already proved that they dislike?

If they were to go that route my strong preference and advice would be to:

A) Have the new version already be established as being Spiderman, for at least several years. Don't put him back in highschool . Maybe Grad school at the most, and most of his rogues gallery should already be established.

B) Don't redo the origin again, even in flashbacks. People know his origin after 5 films, and I think another reboot goes over alot easier if you don't waste time showing him become Spiderman, uncle Ben being killed etc all over again.

C) Don't go back to the Osborns and the Goblin saga, let alone the stuff about his parents.

A premise ultimately doesn't decide a movie's quality. Sinister Six's success or failure depends on the writing, story and acting. And with Drew Goddard at the helm, I'm cautiously optimistic that it could succeed.

It'd be cool to see to just have peter and Harry be bros for a while, no friction, only subtly referencing to Norman. Then after a few films if it feels natural to revisit the goblins, the effect will be much greater.
