If they reboot and have Green Goblin, think I'll give it a miss. Tbh unless it's Marvel doing the reboot I'll give it a miss, even then I wont be that excited.

I don't know what it is, but I'll never get tired of seeing the goblin on screen. I guess I like seeing the different imaginings of the villain.

It'd be like someone saying "I'm tired of seeing the Joker, in every Batman reboot" he's Spider-Man's arch enemy!

Spider-Man is going to be rebooted eventually but 2 reboots in the space of five years would be taking the piss.

I think more people would be willing to accept the soft reboot. And skipping the origin is a must the next time around. I understand there are some people who enjoy watching origin films but you can still show origin-type scenes built within a movie that already has the hero established.

Spiderman is gonna be rebooted sooner or later anyway so its really not a question if to reboot but when. Very few series have a Bond like ongoing self life and they even rebooted that with Daniel Craig. They really haven't rebooted that many comicbook film products because their reallly haven't been that many viable products until this century. This boom of comic book films is relatively new as is the term reboot it self. A reboot is is really a remake, which has been done since the beginning of Hollywood films, so this isn't some new thing.

Sherlock Holmes, Zorro, Superman, Batman, etc have been "rebooted" time and time again usually for each new generation. The only difference between then and now is that the remakes are happening in a shorter gap of time in which their isn't as big a gap between generations. As a result you have more fanboys at odds with each other because their version of a particular product is redone sooner than they would like. The reality of the situation is that the GA is alot more open to reboots than fans would like to admit, assuming the product is good. The GA embraced TDK films in a relatively short period after the 90's Batman series, They embraced Casino Royale reboot just 4 years after Die Another Day, and they did like ASM just 5 years after SM3 so audiences are open to a new version given the quality of the product. This battle over reboots as mainly among fans.

Yes, their are people who get mad that they're replacing Bale with Affleck, and rebooting the Batman series but those same people are the ones who are gonna be standing in line opening night of the new version anyway. Not saying that close reboots can't be an issue but its really not as big an issue among the GA as it is among fans.

So guess that closes that book.
Bottom line is: people won't care if they reboot again, as long as it's good.

You could say that about TASM3 also though, people won't mind aslong as its good, a second reboot so soon wouldn't be a route that wouldnt excite people, and it also Depends whether the casual audience Will accept another reboot this soon, they won't be among the fans they are just casual movie goers

I think it will hurt sony if they reboot and I honestly think marvel would also be aware of this even if hey owned him

Here's why TASM3 will fail and I rather a reboot then sequel.

Sony you done **** yourself. You spent 2 films with this whole parents subplot and every villain comes from Oscorp plot that no matter what, the third film will be mediocre unless you just say **** one of them.

Not trying to pat myself on the back but my take for TASM3 really is the best direction. It deals with Peter no longer caring to find out about his parents, him moving on from Gwen's death, Oscorp going out of business, and other ways to end the series but I do say **** the ending with Harry putting a team together in TASM2 and ignore that.

Some of us just don't want for Spidey to miss out on all the events. Look, he doesn't have to be in Avengers team, he just needs to be part of their universe. I can live with him not being in Civil War, it will hurt a lot, but I'll survive. But if he's not there when the Infinity Gauntlet starts... I am done. I am done with Sony and their bs. I'll just stick to mah comic-books and live in ignorance.

That's me exactly. It was sad seeing Black Panther up there with Robert and Chris knowing it could have been Spidey. I mean, not only to I want Spidey in the MCU, I want to see an intelligent witty Spider-Man interacting with Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man.

Dude I never said I wanted TASM Spidey to be part of MCU. I feel like reboot is the only option at this point. It's really sad Andrew won't be there though. His Spider-man was so good. He showed us that you can perfectly convey emotions without taking off your mask. He showed us that you don't have to be mute and stiff as certain someone used to be before him. Hopefully the next Spidey actor will keep that in mind.

In my opinion, with the exception of the costume in ASM2, the Amazing Spder-Man movies DID NOTHING RIGHT. So, no, a reboot would be best, and remove all the baggage. I wasn't a fan of Andrew in the first one and thought he was much better in the second one. But, unfortunately for him, casting Andrew brings the baggage of the series.

ASM doesn't need rebooting it just needs a more interesting premise than the parents story line and better writers.

This is true. But why have the baggage of what the series brings to continuity, specifically the Goblin and the Osborns.

20 years ago no one would be talking reboot. Reboots are a comic creation and hardly ever happened in the movies.

No it's not. It's called a "remake."

Actually, I want a reboot, particularly for the Goblin.

Do a reboot and handle it like Spectacular Spider-Man. He starts finishing his first summer as Spidey (no super villains yet). You can tell the origin either in the opening credits ala The Incredible Hulk or as a flashback ala Batman (1989).

If ASM 3 is a good first rate film, the GA would accept it just as much as they would good reboot film. GA are alot less discriminating then fans think they are. Ultimately its the character, Spiderman which brings people in. Yes, there are individuals who have preferences for which version is their favorite, but those individuals who don't like a recast or a reboot are gonna be the same ones who go to see it anyway. Its not as dogmatic an issue as it is for fanboys.

It's gonna be a deal breaker for some causal filmgoers . Those who are really up in arms about them rebooting enough to abstain from seeing it , are likely the ones who are diehard fans anyway and are wedded to that particular version. The causal filmgoer who may have seen a couple Spiderman films in the past would be more likely to see it because it is a Spiderman film or because Spiderman is featured in it.

Now of course just rebooting it isn't enough. If they reboot it with another origin story and mediocre to weak script , than it won't do much better than ASM 2 did. It depends on the execution and it depends on what story you're going to tell. If its an incorporation into an Avenger's film ,or something like that, I think you be hard pressed to find interest lacking even if it is a rebooted version of the character from the causal filmgoer.

First things first, I do think they should consolidate the Webb trilogy with ASM3. It is conceivable they can still extend rights with the likes of a SS spinoff as has been rumored, or a Venom movie. This way, you can launch these spinoffs every five years or so as a self contained film, or loose continuity, and possibly extend the entire license for an additional five years. That way the GA wouldn't get an actual Spidey movie until another 10-15 years (with just two spinoffs in between). This would be worst case scenario for fans hoping to see Spidey in the MCU, but it is a distinct possibility. The only question then would be would the franchise still pay dividends for Sony. But if they aren't investing a whole lot into the spinoffs, as Fox is not investing greatly in their FF reboot, then Sony can drag this thing out a very long time and mitigate franchise fatigue.

if sony loose reboot and recast garfield then i think thats like sony saying to the audience yeah we had no idea what we was doing before and we clearly had no faith in our franchise but please give us another chance? and that will be written all over it in big bold letters and if sony have no respect or faith in their own work then why will the audience?

if they say start a new arc with say garfield returning you probably could hide a lose reboot idea in there somewhere, basically similar to what FOX has done with X-Men

Marvel don't have the hours in the day to produce movies for all their characters. Marvel made two movies this year, do you think they would have had the time and the money to make an X-Men movie as well.
Who's to say Marvel would do a better job making X-Men movies than Fox?
Yeah, 20th Century Fox has done a good job with the X-Men to where I honestly don't care if Marvel gets the rights back. First Class and Days of Future Past were both really good movies.

IMO, people crying for Spider-Man and Fantastic Four to go back to Marvel is more for a cry for quality, which Marvel Studios provides. With X-Men though, we're getting quality movies. Whether you think the 20th Century Fox X-Men movies are better or the Marvel Studios movies are, it still doesn't change that we're getting good movies and there is no real need for a change.

Yea Fox has been doing good lately...

But I still wanna see Hugh fight Hulk. It's gotta happen.

I think deep deep down, subconsciously even, we all want Sony to fail and Marvel get the rights back. We would never admit it of course but we can't deny it either. I bet Spider-neil is very confused about the feelings he's having. I know that feel bro, I was confused too. But you can't help who you love man. You gotta just accept it and come outta closet like I did. I don't care what people say I love you Marvel! Please get Spider-man back!

if Marvel Studios got Spider-man back, it certainly would be a property they wouldn't screw around with

But to be honest, it might be a little too late in the game to add Spider-man, especially if he's not even gonna be in the Civil War. It'd feel kinda odd if the first movie he's in was Infinity War. Too cosmic for a first appearance

Yeah. I think civil war would have been perfect whether it was a new version or the Webbiverse version. I'm personally leaning towards cleaning the slate and focusing on a new story or aspect of the Spiderverse whether it be a reboot or a ASM3 . The next film has to be something different from the last 5, it just has to be. Being bogged down in Oscorp and the Osborn family, revisiting his love woes, Having more villains who are decent guys gone bad, growing into adulthood etc is just not enough , and we've been there before through two franchises now. That's why its so stagnant. At a certain point they're gonna have to think beyond just focusing on the Highschool to college years with Gwen, MJ, the Osborns, and Oscorp. The need to broaden the horizons of the character and the challenges he faces.

Yeah post Infinity War would be a perfect starting point for him and a great way for Marvel to start something new but still a big deal for fans after their biggest ever event.

I remember reading Infinity Gauntlet a while back. For someone who has never read a cosmic Marvel comic, it's not the best book to start with. Spidey is in it but he does nothing really. You can easily leave him out.

1. It may seem overly optimistic to say (and it kinda of is), but we don't know yet if Spidey won't feature in Civil War.

2. Phase 4 undoubtedly act as a new beginning for the MCU, following Infinity War. That said, it would be perfect time for Spidey to be introduced into the MCU and have his own film. Even if he does by chance appear in Civil War and/or Infinity War, that would be the ideal time to give his first proper MCU film.

That said, I agree. It'd probably be better to wait until post-Infinity War to introduce than in Infinity War, if they can't/couldn't get him in Civil War.
