Superman Returns What Singer needs to do for the sequel to make it a sucess.

They need to ignore Jason, make him part of the "vague history" Bryan is so fond of.

I think I can bet we won't see a death and return of Superman storyline in a sequel to Returns. We already had Superman returning from a prolonged absence and then we had a near death experience for Superman as well. I would think they wouldn't want to rehash these type of plot points.

I think the time for that was the 90's and sense it didn't come to fruition then, I would think it wouldn't now.
I know but i can always dream can't i?:O

They could find a way of depowering Jason in the sequel. Its not like he's a full blood Kryptonian. He'll never be as powerfull as supes ( i think).

Definately could see Doomsday coming from that rock, but I really hope he doesn't. I would rather see a Bizarro, Metallo, or a Brainiac. Doomsday is just a brainless thug.

watch JLU.
doomsday has a brain and is a fantastic villian.
wish singer had asked paul dini to write the superman movie :(

I don't think you guys get it. There is no sequal. That was it. I hope you enjoyed it, 'cause there won't be any more.

I just read this:

So, “Superman Returns” was cool. (No gigantic mechanical spider in there though Jon? And Supes kept his suit too. You losing some power or you just accepted you were a little nuts at the time?) Ahem… but this **** about Warner holding out until it makes $200 million before greenlighting a sequel is just that - ****. pure bull****. They've already decided they're doing a sequel. I can assure you of that. "Superman Continues" or "Superman Strikes Back" - or whatever they end up calling it - will definitely be at cinemas within the next couple of years. (Brandon Routh's chasing a role in the "World of Warcraft" movie - -wonder if he'll do that first?)

what Singer needs to do: restart everything!!!! pretend Superman Returns never happened. i liked the cast, bring them back. just make Lex a billionaire businessman and not some campy nut job. NO JASON!!! bring back Pa Kent. inclusion of Metallo, Brainiac, Doomsday, etc. i can go on and on, but you all know where i am goin with this.

what singer needs to for the sequal to make it a success is not come back. Simple as that.

I have and this is only one version of Doomsday, which is not the norm. I do like the JLU version better, but if Doomsday was to hit the big screen I would imagine it would be for brawn not brains. Possibly a compliment to Lex or Brainiac.

This is what I wanna see in the sequel (minus Capt. Marvel)...at least once.

(I know, i've posted it before, but its just an awesome fight...and shows both Supes vunerability & strength)

Am I the only one to notice that in all these huge fights on JLU, that Superman does a ****load of damage to the city? Is this the modern Superman? The guy that goes around destroying everything in supervillain fights, and then turns around and says that he holds back so people won't die? Riiiight, like collapsing skyscrapers are harmless. Sheesh.

Even though I liked SR I think he needs to start with a clean slate and get back to what people love about Superman . Not just the 78 donner film , but Superman myths period . Consult the comic writers , Paul Dini , you name it .

No Kid, No Jason , and a new Lois Lane and Lex . Treat the next film as if SR never happened or go the Casino Royale / Batman Begins route and set it in a new continuity.

This is what I would suggest:

Superman :I'd keep Routh as Supes , but make his Clark more as he is in the comics today .

Lois Lane : I'd get a new Lois Lane . Someone who has more chemistry and tension with him similar to Smallville and L&C . I dunno who it could be . Maybe Evangiline Lilly . She has that feisty quality about here that I felt Bosworth lacked . I think an actress whos in her mid 30's would also be good .

Lex Luthor : I think he works well as a buisnessman for a reason . He has much more resources at his disposal and is a greater threat IMO. He's Metropolis's other giant . I think the fan favorite Billy Zane would be great . He has charm yet he can play someone truely evil .

Super-Villian : I'd bring in Brainac , Darksheid , Metallo or Doomsday . Maybe a combination of 2 .

Kents : Keep em both alive . Clark should always have that soft place to return to along with his mom and dad to talk to.

Daily Planet Cast: I'd keep Huntington as Jimmy Olsen but get a new Perry . Rip Torn would be good .

Jor El : Anthony Hopkins

Considering the abilities of his opponents, i'd say that collateral damage is expected. Its not like he's fighting petty thugs here...he's fighting superbeings with godlike powers!

Would you prefer Supes and the villain thumb wrestle? or Rock, paper, scissors?

What Singer needs to do in order to make the sequel a success is to remove not only himself, but his whole gay film crew from any future involvement with Superman movies.

There.

'nuff said.

Singer should not only need to stay home and not direct Supes II, but he should help directing the movie that will be the main competition for the sequel.

I did see sr and there was a few things that were way off. For instant the whole whose your daddy baby drama. To make the sequel work this needs to be either dumped or in the first few moments of the film we hear about a paternety test was done and richard is Jason's dad. Second I would like to see a villian who is as powerfull as superman. Say brainiac .

honestly not too bad of ideas if they DID restart...but randomly replacing Perry isn't really needed...just give Langella more Perry-like lines, he really didn't have much here.

Exactly.

Am I the only one who thought Bosworth was great as Lois???

Maybe its because I wanna **** her!

Actually Bosworth was pretty good, she just also wasn't given enough to work with.

And she IS hot, but i just can't help but think how Evangeline Lilly looks like comic-book Lois (and those green eyes are KILLER!) plus I think she's just a wee bit hotter than Bos. But I will give Kate props

Singer just needs to continue what he started, but he has to be more original in the sequel. That means no John Williams music, no previously used lines, no luthor, and no Zod. He has to introduce a new villain: Darkseid, Braniac, Mongul, Bizarro, Metallo. Any of those would be a great choice. The best parts of SR were the original moments, In many ways I was happy Clark was given a son, because it's different from the previous four movies.

Kevin Smith said on Conan last nite... "atleast let him punch something".
I agree.

WRONG!!

You cannot have a Superman Movie without Williams theme, it would be sacralige. Luthor will always be a part of Superman, whether as the main villan or just a thorn in Supes side.

Frankly Hugo, it sounds like you are just asking for things to be different for differents sake ("I'm happy there's a son because it's different)?!?! ...frankly if you don't like the things that make Superman Superman, or key parts of his history then don't watch it. :o

The classic elements of the first 4 films are great, but whats wrong with creating a new theme. Superman TAS had a new theme that worked out great. The classic quality of Superman is independent of John Williams, Donner, Reeve, Singer, or Routh. A great Superman movie is great regardless of whether it acknowledges the earlier works. Great acting, story, and direction make a good film, not homages
