Superman Returns What Singer needs to do for the sequel to make it a sucess.

Despite the abundance of criticism and a handful of flaws, I think they introduced some nice ideas and visuals from other incarnations of Superman never before seen on screen.

*Superman re-charging with help from our sun
*Superman listening over the earth for trouble
*Superman cracking the ground upon a rough landing

If they introduce some more of these ideas in the sequel and amp them up, they are going in the right direction.

If Zod comes back and teams with Lex, decides to take over Houston, and Superman gives up his powers to create Jason-El-Deuce than it is no good.

Well Showtime, STAS showed Supes recharging from the sun or yellow sunlight a lot of times, and him cracking the earth on impact from a rough landing has been seen on LnC. :) He fell to the ground in that case, but you get my point.

The other...the listening post? No, I don't recall seeing that, but they have alluded to his super hearing in all the incarnations. Though, I did like the listening post. That was very iconic, and it is an image that sticks with you :)

I meant on the screen, meaning a movie, not Louis and Clark or Cartoons. My bad I should have been more clear. Just for the record, Fleischer introduced the ground cracking from a rough landing if you are talking about all visual media.

Really? Cool...I may have to pop them in. It's been a while since I watched the collection. My niece is a fan, but they are...not STAS so I don't watch them much:O

I thought you meant all incarnations...though I still don't see the iconic-ness from the first two. I did like the listening post. LOL...though I have my gripes about this movie I broke down at the con and bought that poster. It's really beautiful. When I'm rich, I'll hang it in my movie room with a caption underneath that is similar to my sig :)

I love the Fleischer Collection. STAS is ok. Doesn't excite me as much as it does others.

I didn't say those scenes were iconic, just nice visuals and ideas from the Superman archives. Same as the Superman lifting the car right out from the cover of Action Comics. I think they should have done more of that in Returns, taking from comics and other Superman media, and times it by 3 in the sequel.

I had no problem with the amount of color. But the flying looked made for TV in some scenes; they did something that made it look over worked like a Star Wars prequel. The scenes at Lois' house looked especially hoaky.

Superman needs to die in the end.

I would like the S on the cape so we can have it draped on the casket in the final scene. And the S on the chest could be larger (Routh also needs to put on as much muscle as he can).

The boots need to be look sleeker and they need to go further up the leg.

I want Darkseid and Doomsday. I want to see some fighting. I don't give a damn that he can take a bullet in the eye. I want to see Superman use objects in his enviornment as weapons, such as a steel pole. I want to see Superman use his heat vision against Darkseid's beams.

I want to see Routh do more things his own way and less like Reeves.

Lois' husband could fight Luthor, Luthor would of course pull a weapon or something, and during said scene the kid would save him from Luthor.

Fix the suit... The first concept designs Singer had done looked alright, it didnt translate onto film well at all. So, fix that up.

Plus the 'Scary sci-fi stuff' Singer has promised for the next film.

The suit definately needs to be fixed! The red should be red on the outside of the cape and have a more traditional neckline!

I can just picture Bryan Singer, and his writting team reading this post, and scratching off all their ideas because they all start with what you said was a bad idea.
Sadly I think the worst might be yet to come.. The WB might never recover the Superman character in theaters after Singer is done with his movies.. If they greenlight another sequel which it looks like it WONT hit 200million, and its going to end up grossin less then even Batman Begins!
So lets see what happens... All I know is that im watching BB now, and I will never question Nolan or Bale! They rule!!! LOL You know I won't even fight this one cause anything Bale/Nolan says about BATMAN has been right on the money so far! So here goes... Heath Ledger is the JOKER!!! :joker:

If he's what Nolan/Bale wants for the role count me onboard!

lol personally I wanted Crispin Glover... heh Maybe later they can use him as The Riddler in part 3!

lol He would be good in either role.:p

All I know is that The Dark Knight is going to be the King of the boxoffice in 2008!

No doubts there! :)

If there is no Darkseid, or Doomsday! Or atleast Braniac I will wait til the movies in the 1$ theater.
heh might wait for ppv or HBO if its just LEX & ZOD again in planet houston!

Theres a item at IESB where the producer of SR mentions clues in the film about the villians in the next one (possibly Zod etc).

Anyone any ideas what these are?

he needs a villain other than Zod and a better marketing plan...

I agree, and I want the \S/ back on the cape.

I wouldn't mind seeing that either... but while we're on that subject, also get rid of the hundreds of the "S"s on the suit.

The tiny 's' are only on the chest emblem and the boots. the blue suit is a diamond pattern.

The newest rumor is that Zod will have a gay robot and Superman will fight a giant spider.

And fix them dang boots.lol

you know what would be more interesting to see?...

Instead of an \S/ on the belt, I'd rather have either the "S" pattern or a Diamond pattern with the outside shape of the symbol embossed on top of a bottom one, keeping a classic feel to it and using the 3d stuff that Singer likes so much.

They could introduce Magog. It would show the differences between a real hero as opposed to an anti-hero. Plus it plays up the savior complex Singer is trying sneek into the franchise.

Metallo being built by Luthor who receives his technology....unknowingly from Braniac....who uses Lex as a pawn.

exactly......and the sequel better not be released a week before another potential megahit like Returns was with P2. Plus the budget needs to be lower....maybe around 150 million and needs to stay that way!

He needs to resign and let someone else direct it. He's finished with this franchise, PERIOD. WB isn't going to let him near another one regardless of how much he begs. Good riddance and I hope the next guy isn't as dumb as Singer.

Well I think he'll be back.....But with some conditions. When they'll announce it remains to be seen, but we might as well just wait for the DVD release to know more about what the studio is planning.

I loved SR, but if Zod is the villain in the sequel then i will start to lose faith in Singer. You've paid your homage now Bryan, do your own thing and give us a worthy villain. IMO Zod was a terrible villain in Supes II and I DONT want to see that again. Darkseid, Brainiac or Doomsday have to be in this sequel IMO, it time to give us something we havent seen before and who is a physical threat to Supes.

Supes did admit in the series finale that he's been holding back all this time...

It wasn't until Darkseid came around that he finally, "cut loose".

That'd be a sight to see.

That was an awesome episode.
