BvS What Stylized Colour Scheme do you Want/Expect for Gotham City?

Gotham and Metropolis comparison.

If it weren't for the landmarks, I wouldn't be able to tell which was which. I don't think the spots did a good enough job of making the cities look distinct.

I liked the use of art deco for Gotham.

Whoever was the cinematographer for that ad, hire them for the Justice League. :o

Seriously though that looks so fake, then there is this. It looks real to me.

Maybe because the last one may be how it will look on the final product (film) and not in a trailer where there were unfinished VFX (statue)

The top photo looks like it just finished raining (Overcast sky), plus it's Winter/Fall (No leaves on the trees)

Yep, there is no reason for the movie to look bright and sunny if it takes place in the Fall.

And then they said...

They look the same :oldrazz:

Ah yes, that does need to be taken into consideration. Either way, I still don't mind that shot.

Looks like Nolan's Gotham with a little bit of Burton peppered in. Looks really good.

Yeah, it was very Nolan-esque and looked like it was the same Gotham from TDK trilogy.

Fall isn't bright and sunny?

In a North East city?

I actually really like the lack of stylization going on with both cities. They look like actual places with an actual population. And if it's too generic for some, well that's taste. But I will say... The names Gotham and Metropolis are in themselves generic. It was the Furst designs of Gotham that got integrated into the comics and influenced the toons that turned Gotham into a set designer's dream. Before that mood and atmosphere could be evoked in other ways in the comics, but the city of Gotham looked like a lot of North Eastern cities. I also prefer Metropolis as it was in the Donner film, and what it looks like here so far. When they go too far with making Metropolis the "City of The Future" it always rings false to me for some reason.

Is it usually not? I wasn't being sarcastic.

I don't know where in the country or the world you are, I know things are different in different Hemispheres, but Fall in say, NYC, is when the temperature starts cooling, more storms, more rain, more clouds. Overcast skies are common. Let's put it this way, in recent years it's not been uncommon for it to snow on Halloween at the end of October.

I've only lived in DC and Maryland. Fall, for me, has always been bright and sunny (which is not to say that it was always warm, temperature-wise). Winter and early spring is when the sky is overcast.

:whatever:

Fall where I live doesn't look overcast and rainy.

Well, where is that exactly? For a lot of the U.S. it's just that. Are there clear days? Sure. But when people think of fall its cooler and more overcast than the start of spring.

Which I didn't know. That's why I asked. I honestly can't recall a time in my life where fall was more overcast than it was sunny, so from my perspective, it's weird for someone to use that season to excuse a darker color palette.

In what sense? They're fictional cities.

Right now there is an argument about seasons of the year in Batman v Superman forum.
