BvS What Stylized Colour Scheme do you Want/Expect for Gotham City?

In BvS, I'd like Gotham to look a bit more Gothic honestly. Like the Gotham in the Arkham games.

I remember there was a poll asking whether you'd like to live in Metropolis or Gotham and a lot of people chose Gotham (mainly because Batman) and that got a lot of Superman fans upset and confused because Gotham is so dangerous and Batman can only do so much to rid it of the villains, but to me I would really like to live in Gotham instead because it's not only a beautiful city, but villains and the shenanigans that go on there just make the city so intriguing and exciting, for me at least. Plus also Batman of course.

Then why did Nolan shoot NY?
Because he wanted an actual city backdrop, any NY fulfilled whatever his requirements were. He clearly did not intend to have Gotham be stylized, so that shouldn't be a knock against him.

Also, Gotham feels pretty alive in the TV series. Felt that way in Begins too, despite it being a set.
I personally find it very easy to distinguish which scenes were on set or not. It's hard to replicate the depth and liveliness of an actual city. That's why I feel we're a long ways off from accomplishing it.

And I love it. :atp:

Dark, depressing..lots of red, with lots of lightning in the nite shots.

I think I would live in Gotham. There's so many more sci fi villains in Metropolis. Like Parasite, Metallo, Brainiac, and Atomic Skull.

Psychopaths scare me...I wouldn't want to live there!

The Gotham Arkham Asylum is impressive. They've captured the right vibe.

What building is this? It looks like something straight out of comic book Gotham. It MUST be used in this film.

I was watching Transformers age of extinction and I noticed that, that building had showed up in the movie during the part of the movie that takes place in china. Also one of the locations that is being used for this movie was also in Transformers. It makes it seem like Michael Bay likes to have his movies filmed in Detroit but not actually have them set there.

The colour scheme used in the Superman BvS poster, set in Gotham, would be fine. Black and grey. Bleak, dark and haunted.

Like the opening of this...

Just from the full shot of Superman with Gotham in the background and seeing these locations… It doesn't appear that The Dark City will have a tall skyline. Puts me in mind of Washington D.C. with their building height limit. I dig the thought if that's what they are going for. It invokes a depressed and sad feeling. That's Gotham to me, sad and depressing.

^ I have a feeling that the tall skyline will be put in in post.

This issue with this is that the look of Gotham in the Nolan films serverely lacked continuity. The city looked noticeably different in each film; Begins was very stylized and fictionalized, TDK was more Chicago inspired, and TDKR was very clearly NYC, complete with multiple shots of central park.

And Nolan's biggest crime is how the elevated rail line, which served as a huge part of the plot of 'Begins', was completely missing in the two films following.

And while speaking of the rail line, lets not forget that Wayne Tower was inexplicably redesigned, in conjunction with the now absent rail line, in the following films.

It's funny how the Arkham games made the Schumacher-ish neon look work.

Metropolis obviously should be the modern scyscraper city. It should not be all lights and happiness, but obviously Metropolis needs to be 'rebuilt' and i'd say it can be rebuilt more futuristic, and have the imhabitans be 'uplifted' 'motivated'.

Gotham is the dark world, the Nolan films imho embraced the feel perfectly.
Buildings with gargoyles, scarred, fogged. Less crime because of Batman having done his work good enough [ it doesn't need to be crime-free, just excessive-free], but never enough to keep it crime-free, which wears on mr. Wayne. Unfinished buildings.

Metropolis should be an uncomfortable place for Batman, and Batman should be mad at Supes for destroying or allowing half of Metropolis to be demolished in their brawl. Something with "Protecting your loved ones. how are you gonna save humanity if you destroy their world".

Batman's "home" is dark, gritty. Film noir-style, almost Sin City style. Superman should not feel so much at home there, and should judge Batman for leaving a city to decay instead of finishing his human obligation; not just to destroy crime, but to make it a better place.

It should imho therefor be like night & day; Metropolis is the day, Gotham is the Night.

I kind of had that feeling of Gotham being a very dirty city in Batman Begins. But that feeling went away with the Dark Knight and the Dark Knight Rises. I want Gotham in BvS to fit the what Jack Napier said in Batman (1989) “Decent people shouldn't live here, they'd be happier someplace else.”.
