What will be Marvel's answer to Batman Arkham City?

What should be Marvel's answer to B: AC?

  • Planet Hulk video game

  • Avengers Legends

  • An open world X-men game

  • Street level superheroes (Daredevil/Luke Cage/Moonknight etc)

  • An epic and psychedelic Fantastic Four game

  • Shield (in the style of Call of Duty)

  • One of the lesser tier characters

  • Cosmic Marvel inspired by DnA's run

  • God of War style Thor game

  • Bioshock inspired Captain America game

  • Iron Man with customizable armour

  • Old Man Logan

  • None

  • Other

  • She Hulk: Ace Attorney

  • Doctor Strange horror-esque game

  • They've already matched it...with X-men Destiny! >:(

A free roam Daredevil, Punisher or Ghost Rider game could be god like.

Old Man Logan could also be very cool. X-Men Origins: Wolverine mixed with Fallout.

Yes, I've always wanted a free roam Ghost Rider game. Imagine it, riding up, down, and on the side of buildings.

God it would be incredible.:csad:

I'm actually fine if a Ghost Rider game is just like the first Movie tie-in. The next one should just have a bigger budget. I liked that it was basically a God of War clone. Not everything needs to be free-roam.

Ghost Rider would be pretty awesome in free-roam though. Now Cap is a good example of a character that shouldn't have a free-roam game.

I was going to say Thor, but then I imagined a free-roam game in Asgard.

I think free roam is perfectly acceptable for characters who are capable of it. Ghost Rider is one of them, so why not give it a try?

I'm still trying to figure out why people think Ultimate Alliance (1 or 2) was any good... It felt like an extremely poor X-Men Legends to me. Not sure why that gets praise over games like Hulk: UD, Punisher or X-Men Legends...

Different strokes I guess... but... still..

Granted, MUA is still better than that awful Justice League game.

Who says they NEED to do a game as good as Arkham City?

This.

How 'bout looking at Arkham Asylum/City as the FIRST decent DC video game in, like, ever? Versus a long history of Marvel games that were acclaimed by critics and fans alike. Spider-Man 2, Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, X-Men Legends, Punisher, The X-Men arcade, X:Men COTA, the Marvel vs. Capcom series, and of course the biggie....Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
We're promoting stagnancy and complacency now?

IMO, The only guy from EITHER company that can have a game as epic as AC is Spidey.

I agree man. Spider-Man has the potential to deliver both films and games on the same level as The Dark Knight/Arkham City, all it takes are the right people behind it
He has the potential to surpass him
My top 3 movies are Batman movies

Anyway, about games, imagine a Spider-Man game taking use of Spider-Man's amazing rogues gallery the same way Rocksteady does in their Arkham games.
Some power seeking guy makes a mess and forces the hero to fight several of his rogues? Prototype works nicely for that

I feel like Ubisoft could make an AMAZING Spider-Man game.
They could make a fantastic Moon Knight game, he deserves his chance, and playing him like Assassin's Creed in some aspects will be very awesome

I think Sucker Punch could and would welcome that in the future
I wouldn't mind that

Isn't Call Of Duty the best selling franchise of all time?
I thought Mario was
Didn't that move to Wii Sports?

I was going to say Thor, but then I imagined a free-roam game in Asgard.
Not in all the 7 realms?

I agree.... In a way, mostly because he's the most well known to the general audience. I'd really like to see someone take on Dare Devil as well. I'd also, like I said, really like to see a GTA like world staring Ghost Rider...

On one hand, I would agree with that.

Aside from being an interesting character (and working in an awesome city with some cool mythology), what makes Batman so great, not just in these games, but in general, is that he's got wide range of gadgets and abilities (which in video games translates into a lot of variety in gameplay), and he also has an incredible cast of villains and side characters. Second to none, in my opinion.

Spider-Man probably comes the closest in that regard though.

Though on the other hand, gameplay wise, I'm not sure there's anything anyone can do with Spidey that hasn't been done. Spider-Man's repertoire doesn't really go as deep as Batman's, you know? I mean, aside from swinging around, punching and kicking dudes, and being snarky, what does Spider-Man have to offer that we haven't already seen?

Who else is a good candidate for Marvel?

Sniktbub? Iron Man? I think Iron Man is probably their best shot at a game on the same level as Arkham.

My top 3 movies are Batman movies

You should maybe see more movies.

I saw lots of movies, couldn't get even Dragon to top Batman
It's hard to find movies to enjoy that aren't based on comics to me, don't know what to watch, and lots of the new moves are blah

I think there is alot Spider-Man can do with his webs that has never been done before and would give us about the same variety as AC has. So when it comes to gameplay, he definitely has the potential.

Another reason why I think Spider-Man is the hero with the most potential to have a game in the quality of AC is simply because his world and rogues gallery is as huge and iconic as Batman's, which heroes such as Iron Man, Thor, Ghost Rider etc. don't have if you ask me.

And that's one of the major quality factors in the Arkham games IMO. The world and the characters. And Spider-Man definitely has both that and gameplay potential. So there's no doubt IMO that Spider-Man should be able to have an AAA game, more so than other heroes mentioned.

Im kinda tired of spiderman games, I feel like we've had one each year almost and all have sucked and yes I was bored by shattered dimensions.
The thing is it comes down to the right developer and material to bring a great game together. I just dont understand in this age and the power that xbox and Ps3 consoles possess that we have not got a game that has literally blown our minds away and really took advantage of the systems. Most of these hero games just feel so damn rushed and not really well thought out.

It's easier to tell how many years since 2k there were no Spidey games
2003, 2006 and 2009 (at least not on home systems and PC)

There won't be one. Why? Because Marvel's games are locked up with Activision and Sega

Maybe a Hulk game with an inFamous-style moral choice system? Obviously with more destructive acts resulting in the negative choices. I think it's been done already, but I'm not sure.

Ultimate Destruction was the definitive Hulk game for me. The gameplay was great and the story is really good.

A good Punisher game shouldn't be that hard to do. The one from 2005 was pretty good, although it is pretty repetitive today. But just make a shooter, doesn't need to be free roam at all. There are so many third person shooters out there so it's not like it would be hard to find a template to follow.

Also, from what I've read elsewhere Marvel can partially be blamed for the end products we end up with. They apparently have a lot of say in what goes in and what does not. For example they can say what villains can't be in a Spidey game, and what villains must be in. And that they're the ones who pushes for an annual Spider-Man game.

Even though Spider-Man doesn't have gadgets like Batman does, he can use his web for many different usages aside from swinging building to building. He can use it to capture the enemy, swing him around, seal a hole, and even form a shield to protect himself with. If they would just use their creativity, a Spider-Man game can be just as exciting as AR and AC.

I think Iron Man is a great candidate, because he can not only fly (which opens up the map) and has cool weaponry, they can allow the gamers to modify the armors like Stark does. Perhaps the gamers can unlock several armors like Mark III, Mark IV, Hulkbuster, Thorbuster, and Stealth, and tinker with each by adding new features or enhance the existing ones. And although IM's rogue gallery isn't as great as either Batman or SM's, I think they can still pose very good challenges in the game, and the developer can reimagine some of those villains to make them even better (like in AR/AC).

Iron Man flying is the primary reason why his games have sucked. Someone who's grounded has a better shot at having an amazing game

Mixing web fluid

Moon Knight has a lot of potential for a great video game
Other than him I think Captain America showed he could star in a great game. Ant-Man has more potential than most of the A-list heroes for a decent video game

The Punisher game was pretty ****ing awesome...i still play it from time to time.

id love to see a Punisher game with the Gears of War mechanics.
