I'm watching the Phantom Menace
31 minutes 12 seconds in and it's boring

Anna Karenina.

It was a very interesting movie. While I did enjoy it, I think I would have really loved it if it wasn't filmed in the way it was. The theatre-esque setting was muddled and confusing and with the story switching from actual locales then back to the theater and so on left me scratching my head. Had this been done in a more standard period piece format I think it would have made a greater impression on me. The performances were great and it was well shot, I just didn't dig the theatre aesthetic. Jude Law was the scene stealer though, for me anyway. He was terrific.

7/10

The Hobbit - 8/10

Life of Pi - 8/10

Along with The Grey, those are probably among the top 3 movies to come out this year.

Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace
Invisible score/10
Not too bad, simply flat and forgettable

MIAMI CONNECTION. One of those so bad it's good 80s movies. It does have a charm to it plus a catchy 80s soundtrack.

MIB 3 --- really enjoyed it. Brolin nailed Tommy and it was funny to watch him. I hope they bring him back for some reason. I'd love to see him again in another MIB movie.

The Prince and Me ---- I liked this movie....funny modern day Cinderalla story.

Disney's A Christmas Carol.

Better than I thought it would be after hearing underwhelming reviews for it. Yeah, some of the "action" scenes were pointless and tacked on, but I liked it anyway.

8.5/10

The Last Temptation of Christ

The acting was campy at times. Dialogue was hammy. Didn't connect.

Glad I'm not the only one who felt that way about the acting.

LOTR - Return of The King (Extended Version)

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - 9 or 10 out of 10

Peter Jackson doesn't disappoint as he really sets you off on a true adventure. There aren't many films where I can say where they go on an adventure and I felt like it was. But this film is one of them. More adventurous than LOTR in tone and more fun. Despite the clear stakes and danger, there is never a loss of pure enjoyment and escapism.

I didn't want this movie to end. I wanted it to keep going into the second and third one and finish. But as a stand-alone film, it has a nice arc and conclusion. At the beginning, I was getting worried that Peter may have lost a step. But once I saw that this is clearly isn't LOTR and has its own world, I was quickly swept away by the adventure and saw that this is another story that has its own tale to tell.

I got some warm feelings while watching this, some of which was nostalgia, but fortunately, it doesn't take over as this is clearly another story with its own integrity. It's not the same franchise I feel in love with ten years ago. This is another one I'm starting to fall in love with all over again. After nine years of being gone, as Sam would say, "Well, I'm back." And I can't wait to see what happens next.

Superman Returns
8/10

Didn't know I'd like it now, expected it to take a third view or later
Better than I remember, it's a pretty good movie

Gattaca: 4/5

I always enjoy watching original Sci-Fi films and this was quite a great film. But by god the yellow filter was distracting as all hell.
