Immortalfire said:The Dark Knight. I still say it totally should have won Best Picture
2008 was the year of the snub. The Dark Knight, WALL-E, The Wrestler, and Gran Torino ... All Oscar-worthy films. I think it's ridiculous that none of them were nominated for Best Picture. It also tells me that Heath Ledger's Oscar was based on politics rather than merit for his performance. Don't get me wrong, he freakin' deserves that Oscar, but I highly doubt the Academy would view his performance in the same light if he were still alive. That's because the Academy is full of you-know-what.
The nominations that year (The Reader, Frost/Nixon, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Milk), along with the Best Picture winner (Slumdog Millionaire), were all movies that I hated. I get that Slumdog Millionaire was supposed to mimic the Bollywood style ... But I still find it to be a really, really ugly-looking movie; to the point where it took me out of it completely. If Michael Bay gets criticized for oversaturated colors in his films, then this movie should get the same treatment. At least it does from me.![]()
