Treated myself to a massive ankle sprain for Halloween, so I got to watch a few movies this weekend, first time flicks being This Is It and Frozen. I've got some sort of weird mixture of Michael Jackson and "Let It Go" stuck in my head.
A really solid horror flick...it pretty much felt like old school Tim Burton production wise mixed with a James Wan direction of storytelling. The acting was really good all around especially the kid, because I don't think I've ever wanted to punt a kid so hard before, so good job. The Babadook himself was creepy enough, they really did a good job on creating really interesting shots. Even though you might spot a few familiar story/horror elements, they made sure to keep it fresh and new. 9/10
I can't believe something like this would get a cinematic release. Pretty formulaic and dull overall. Luke Bracey's character was the only one I was interested in and the mentor/apprentice aspect with Brosnan was fun for a while, until it got stale. Then there was the wandering assassin who just walked around with her gun and backpack and did nothing. 5.5/10
