Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House
Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House is a movie about Mark Felt, the man who brought down the white house. Apparently the movie had to show the title of the movie at the beginning and the end of the movie. I thought this was pretty bland and very made for tv. You cna tell this didn't have a big budget because almost every scene takes place in a stuffy office building. This could have been really good under someone like Aaron Sorkin. For a movie about Deep Throat, this should have been better. 5/10
The first one was pretty bad and this was actually worse. The best thing about this movie was Kenny G's cameo. Yeah... 2/10
Pitch Perfect 3
It's a series that continues to decrease in quality. I enjoyed the first one but this one was pretty much a travel log with showtunes. Almost everyone in here feels like they were just fill fulling an obligation to make a 3rd movie. And the last act turns the movie into a James Bond parody for no apparent reason. Overall, it's a whole lot of nothing. 3/10
It was enjoyable for a musical. The story could have been better and while it was about P.T. Barnum, I wish the movie could have focused more on the performers. It's pretty much Hugh Jackman's movie. It's weird seeing Michelle Williams so happy and chipper after being in a lot of serious and sometimes depressing roles, but she was good too. Overall, it's good but outside of the songs there's nothing really special about it. 6/10
I really enjoyed this which is strange because it's directed by Todd Haynes. It tells two stories from two time periods that interconnect and both deal with the main characters being deaf. It starts out pretty standard but it slowly turns into a interesting silent film. The performances are pretty good overall, but Millie Simmonds was a clear standout star. It's a great little slice of life of NY and just for that alone it won me over. 9/10
For the most part I thought this was a solid old school thriller. It's by Jaume Collet-Serra, who I've always liked even though he'll make something like Non-Stop or Unknown. Here it's pretty much Speed or Taking of Pelham 123 only not quite as good obviously. I really like the set up for the movie, they manage to capture life in a commuter train day in and day out really well. And when Vera Farmiga's character shows up to Liam Neeson, it definitely goes into Speed territory with the plot. There's some fun dialogue that comes with the action. When it gets to the final act, the movie goes off the rails (pun intended) and while I have some issues with it, it still becomes enjoyable. 8/10
