INDIANA JONES: TEMPLE OF DOOM
Quality = 7.5/10
Joy = 9/10

First 26 minutes feel like a cartoon, some real funny stuff in an awkward way that they drop the quality of the movie down, at least they do not harm the fun.
The idea that this is a prequel is pretty funny; they brought in the main star to play a younger version of his character after said actor grew a few years older. Sweet irony is what I'll call it.

A couple of moments made me feel like the main protagonist is a bit of a *****e, but then I give it a bit more thought and take back thinking such.

The banquet is one of the best scenes in the movie, including that one comment "You were thought to be a grave robber before they found out you're an archaeologist".

The Master of the Flying Guillotine.

(If you’ve never seen, run, do not walk, to youtube!)

Blade Runner 2049. A sublime, intoxicating film and every bit as powerful as the original. Denis Villeneuve is on some kind of roll.

I'm trying to find a legitimate DVD copy. The one I bought was actually of the film that preceded it, The One Arm Boxer.

In a way this is Scorsese remaking his own Taxi Driver, but with paramedics and ambulances replacing taxis. The most underrated Scorsese film. Very surreal and funny. Marty tries new stuff here with the camera but not everything works. He always goes for broke, balls to the wall, screw the audience. This almost feels like the Advil to Fight Club in a weird way. It plays like a beautiful creepy nightmare that does not make sense.

It's kind of like a documentary narrated by Chastain with a couple of big dramatic moments thrown in, Elba and Costner supply good supporting performances. 6/10

I Don't Feel At Home in This World Anymore - Quirky weird indie, not sure I especially liked it, but it was interesting - 6 / 10

The Breakfast Club (got the Criterion Collection blu ray yesterday)

INDIANA JONES: RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK
Quality = 8.5/10
Joy = 8/10

I enjoyed this a little less than the funnier yet inferior prequel. It's more grounded until the funny market battle, then it gets more serious again.
There must be at least one actor every generation with the precise build of Dave Bautista, that Nazi boxer who died by the plane fan can be replaced by Bautista of the present and you wouldn't tell the difference.

Darkman.

First time watching this right through and found it to be a fairly enjoyable cheesy romp.
