Jim & Andy - Really interesting look into how an actor can get absorbed into a certain role. I'm not sure I'll ever look at Carrey the same way again. 8.5 / 10

The Cloverfield Paradox

'Twas disappointing. Completely devoid of any tension.

I can see why it got dumped on Netflix, Paramount probably realised what a mess they had on their hands.

Winchester

It's a horror film about the Winchester house so by all means, it should've been a really good spook house horror film. I'll say it started pretty strong, they do a good job setting up the plot and exploring the house. Jason Clarke and Helen Mirren was pretty good and although I wish they gave her more to do, Sarah Snook was fine. The 2nd half kinda gets lost and they never really give you a good scare. I was hoping it'll be great considering it's by the Spierig Brothers, but this movie needed a bigger budget and a better script. It's not horrible by any means, it has some wasted potential.

The Cloverfield Paradox

I'll be in the minority on this, but I really enjoyed it. It's essentially the Cloverfield version of Event Horizon with a little touch of Alien thrown in. When sh** starts hitting the fan, the movie never really slows down. I thought Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Elizabeth Debicki were easily the best part about this movie. As for the Cloverfield connections, I do have to say they felt crowbarred in (especially the last shot of the movie). They could have executed it better like in 10 Cloverfield Lane. But other than that, it's a pretty solid horror thriller.

Mom and Dad

Just like what the poster says, this movie is batsh** insane. It has a premise that you go with just see the chaos it brings. In a satirical away, you get brutal scenes of moms and dads just straight up murdering their children. Nicolas Cage and Selma Blair were great in this. This is where you get prime Nicolas Cage chewing up the scenery for 90 minutes. It's the best kind of trash cinema that would have been in a grindhouse theater from the 70s or 80s.
