Sherlock Holmes and the Spider Woman (1943)
This was one they wrote just for the Basil Rathbnone series of films I believe, it didn't have any roots in a Conan Doyle book.
Yes, it used some elements from a few of the ACD stories, but you're right the overall storyline was original for the film.
Yeah, I thought the Spider Woman herself was a riff on Irene Adler.
Marshall (2017)
How the **** did Chadwick Boseman not get an Oscar nomination for this role? He was amazing. I hate how so many great movies last year got ignored by the Academy.
Justice League : The New Frontier
Animated WB/DC film which had a while but watched for first time over the weekend. What a film ! Loved it, effectively, Watchmen does the Justice League and so well made, not read the original graphic novel so all new to me but the animtaed style suited the time in history and characters and screen time was well shared between everyone, intriguing story and miles better than any JL screen interpretation served up thus far. 9/10
You should really read the graphic novel. The animated movie is great, but the book is 10x better.
