Batman.
Felt the same way about that movie, minus droolingThe Expendables
After you drool at the great action actors assembled on screen, there's really nothing else there. Some fight scenes were nice, but not enough, and there was too much CGI blood.

Wait, was it like a history of the fictional DCU?![]()
Very interesting, even if they of course had to skip some elements (events like CoIE comes to mind) for the overall pacing of this storytelling.
It was like you said about the writers, artists etc, but also much about changes in characters through the different ages, start of JLA, the socially aware Green Arrow in late 60's etc.Wait, was it like a history of the fictional DCU?
I thought it was going to be more about the real life writers, artists, decisons, etc.
Take Shelter.
I wanted it to end differently.
But to me...I really didn't expect it but I kind of liked the interesting take on it.
Jaws
Bought the Blu Ray before I went to work this morning. My God. So beautiful. I loved how it didn't try to be all, "LOOK HOW NEW IT LOOKS WITH BLU RAY QUALITY!" The picture is more crisp, and the sound mixing is more audible and sharp. Yet it still feels like Jaws, but at times, images that I've been seeing and in love with for years and years seems like I saw them for the first time again. I can't wait to see this in theaters next week. I have been waiting for this moment for years.
But to me...
The take is that his Schizophrenia was partially precognition/a warranted fear. But they made it much too random, and kind of dissatisfying in a way. With it happening at the beach, all of his preparation and forethought ended up meaning absolutely nothing, and we have no indication of what happened to him or his family. In his dreams, it was a pretty fatal event, and with no precautions or protection to speak of, are we to surmise that something lethal did end up happening?
I would've just ended it immediately after they exited their storm cellar; show that the storm wasn't that bad for most, but for whatever reason, it happened to destroy his family's house, thusly showing that his fear wasn't 100% imagined.
I dunno, it's definitely a bit more conformist than the real ending, but both endings ultimately achieve the exact same narative point, so to continue the false-start of the first storm with a second storm just seemed kind of monotonous to me. It's like they were attempting to be more original, but ultimately couldn't really pull it off.
It could have also been a bit cooler if they had played up how his premonitions had started coming true - like how his friend ends up beating him up, and how his wife doubts his sanity. It would've given it a more Twilight Zone-feel to it, but I appreciate that they were going for a more understated, realistic tone.
Yeah, I feel like there was a few, more satisfying, ways they could've gone with it.I think that the fact the events that happened in his dreams were very extreme, I don't think the him and his family made it. At first I thought the storm didn't see as big as he had been alluring to throughout the movie but I went back and the ocean wasn't even there when his wife noticed there was a storm coming, I think it was just the beginning of it.
The apocalyptic dreams he was having made sense with the ending we got, and the way they were trying to make the viewer think it was schizophrenia made me not take into consideration he was telling the truth, just as the characters in the film..even him. But it turned out to be something else, something that I didn't take into consideration since I was immersed in the story of him and his family dealing with the disease.
I agree with your points though but the more I thought about it the more I liked it. And yeah, his premonitions coming true (at least some of them) would've been cool to see but I think they left that out so you'd be convinced there was no room for premonitions but schizophrenia being the only explanation.
