A movie from Burkina Faso that I watched in media theory class. It's about a guy who refuses to sell his land in a small village to a neighbor who wants to expand his mansion, and the media gets involved. It's a good look at industrialization and mass communication, even though it's story isn't very well put together in some parts.
It's probably the 1000th time I've watched this movie, but the reason I watched it this time is that I'm currently reading The Prestige novel which the movie was based on. It really surprised me how different the movie is from the book. It's really a testament to the Nolan's talent for shaping this book into a truly great movie.
Dredd is definitely worth checking out with a bunch of friends. It's plays like a video game and has shades of The Raid in it.
The theme of not knowing the answers is a good start point, but it's played right to the end, leaving me feeling like everything was a pointless venture.
Perfect Sence (2011). A very melancholic and a bit sad catastrophy/disaster movie about a spreading virus that takes away peoples sences, one at a time. Ewan McGregor and Eva Green was great together as the couple that fall in love, and I really enjoyed this story despite the hopelessness in the premise. The ending was perfect also.
Eva Green is a goddess (with or without clothes lol). She should do more lead roles in drama flicks as she's a bit underrated IMHO.
Pretty decent romantic comedy, with some great chemistry between Segel and Blunt. I don't often say good things about romantic comedies, but I like them when there's some depth, when the subject is treated with respect. It is funny and it is sweet.
Damn, I can't believe I just wrote "sweet". That's my current self, in trouble, my inner romantic self.
With directors commentary, I'm truly surprised that the Bandito Brothers where so genuine about the whole thing, when I first saw it, I thought the people behind it where taking the piss.
