What's your view of the definitive Batman costume?

Hey guys, since we're talking definitive suits, I just want to know what would you consider the definitive level/shade of grey?

You see, I'm making a Batman costume and I'm thinking a gun metal grey finish for the suit. Would love to get thoughts and opinions if possible.

I think it depends what you mean by definitive: the definitive Batsuit, for me, is the Bronze Age version (Adams, Aparo etc) which had quite a light great body. That was to some extent, however, a product of the colouring tech of the time, and it was almost certainly intended to represent something a bit darker.

I usually say "graphite" is the way to go, which I suppose is not far off from "gunmetal". That's with the caveat that I prefer a hint of blue in the cape and cowl, which contrasts better with dark grey.

Well I'm aiming for something along the lines of a hybrid of New 52/Arkham City/Arkham Asylum for the Batsuit I'm trying to make.

70's Batman but with black instead of the blue cowl, gloves, trunks and boots.

The Neal Adams suit come to life. But improved, as making it all black was a masterstroke.

As to whether the oval or the black bat look is preferred, I remember there was a poll on the Yesterday, Today and Beyond Batman site that actually gave a statistical percentage. It was something like 34% of those polled preferred the oval, 38% preferred the black bat and 28% didn't care either way or liked both! I prefer the oval for a more experienced Batman and the black bat for a younger, more novice Batman. In the end it is of course subjective. DC seems to push only the oval symbol when marketing is concerned these days.

I think an amalgamation would work. The classic black/dark blue and gray color scheme, yellow oval logo, capsule/pouch belt combination similar to the Adam West utility belt, and a Neal Adams-like cowl.

If you took the nipples off the Batman Forever suit and recolored the belt to the gold on the emblem, it would be the sexiest Bat costume ever!

I never had a problem with the nipples. I understand Schumacher was going for a 'greek statue' look. I don't get the big fuss over them.

The panther suit looks really good. It's a revamped B89 suit, and it looks good on Kilmer.
