Tim Burton - Superman is a character does not need Burton's normally dark take on a story.

Obviously, any bad director would be a bad choice (I'm looking at you, McG:(), but from the many good directors out there, I'd probably have to admit Burton would be the worst simply because, as Norman said, his style's much too dark for Superman.

Joel Schumacher would also be a pretty craooy choice - and not just because of his work on Batman, bbut even Schu's good movies are rather mature and gritty, and Superman just doesn't need gritty, IMO.

McG would suck!
Stick to doing your crappy music videos "buddy".

George Lucas would suck at directing a Superman film as well.

Tim Burton may have a dark style, but he's been known to contrast that darkness with an absurd amount of brightness (Mars Attacks, Edward Scissorhands, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure), and anyone who's seen Big Fish knows that not everything he does is as dark as Batman or Sleepy Hollow.

Anyway, Schumacher and McG are the worst on that list. Schumacher would actually find a way to make Superman's costumer gayer than Singer did, and McG would toss mannequins around during the flying scenes.

McG is definitely the worst up there, but the worst director out there for Superman (or any movie for that matter) is either Uwe Boll or Paul W.S. Anderson. Fortunately, the only way that will ever happen is if Superman video games become immensely popular to the point where people think of Supes as a video game character first and foremost, and thankfully, that will never happen.

Sh**. I can't believe this. Okay, I take back what I just said. The worst director for Superman, or ANY superhero is none other than Catwoman's own, PITOF. I can't believe I forgot about him. I made an entire thread devoted to how that jackoff could ruin my favorite movies and it's been running for years!

This thread should be closed.
The Mods are onto you ryankris.

Paul Anderson.

On the list: Schumacher and McG. I shudder to see the Superman uniform with artificial nipples on it, or Arnold as Brainiac.

I think McG would make a very flashy and ultimately empty Superman movie. I don't mind a little humor or camp, but I think McG would take it too far.

Kevin Smith. Love the guy, but his Superman movie would have a lot of off-camera action scenes simply because he wouldn't know what to do with a huge budget.

The worst director would be someone who makes the same type of Superman movie as everyone has already seen. The Superman movies have already been corny or whatever they call it.

'Sides that-you'd have to wait a year for the last 30 minutes of the movie to be released!

He was never attached to direct, only write...

I know, but his unfinished Green Hornet movie came to mind. He was set to direct it, but gave up when he realized he didn't know what to do in a high budget film.

That was producer Jon Peters. Who actually stayed on as producer for SR; they just were sure not to let him out of his cage.

Oh, and he also wanted a gay robot and a dog for Brainiac.

And polar bears. Don't forget the polar bear fight.

I still don't understand how a robot can be gay. Does that mean he sleeps with... umm... other robots?

Not just other robots, but other MALE robots.

Exactly and there's no excuse for that no matter how talented director you are. My vote goes for Singer.
