Out of ALL of the films, TASM2 definitely had the best money shots. Every single shot of spider-man was awesome as hell.

They look like cut scenes from video games. No authenticity or vibrancy to them.

They look like they're from a live action movie. They have a great energy, authenticity, and vibrancy to them that make Spider-Man look alive. Glory be the days when CGI was able to do that. Spider-Man 2 I think it was, or one of them anyway, raked itself an Academy Award for it.

Those CGI fests you posted in those gifs, they are standard fare you see everywhere in the SFX over heavy action movies we get so much these days.

yes it is standard CGI and yes those effects are present in many films these days. but it doesn't take away the fact that they are AMAZING spidey action shots. The CGI in the raimi films made Spider-Man look like he belonged in Finding Nemo. He looked like he was completely computer generated or that he was made of clay.

Actually it does take away that they are not amazing Spider-Man shots because they look completely inauthentic. I know what I'm looking at there is fake. It is too SFX heavy and gives it a bad cartoon like quality. Never got that from the great money shots of Raimi's. Even though some of them are 10 years old they look better and hold up better than these do, and these are more recent, which tells you in 10 years time these will look even worse.

Also try and be consistent on your stance. You're praising the Raimi shots on the previous page, now you're trying to say they look like Finding Nemo shots. Make your mind up.

I do have my mind made up. Yes the shots of Raimi's swinging looks great but Spider-Man still does look completely fake and rubber-like. The design of the shots and the cinematography is outstanding, but the CGI looks dated. So, better CGI looks better, and the shots in TASM films has better CGI. The CGI is so much better in the newer films, it shouldn't be up for debate. Of course it's going to seem fake when you have a flying blue guy shooting tons of electricity everywhere, but at least Spider-Man swinging and the physical factors that he reacts to look real. The use of physics looked stunning in these newer films. Something the Raimi films didn't really show, physics.

It is up for debate. We are debating it. The CGI looks better argument doesn't work. Transformers CGI is technically a higher grade than the SFX movies of old like Jurassic Park used, but anyone would tell you that the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park look better and more real than everything in Transformers with it's advanced higher state CGI.

Raimi's movies look much more vibrant and authentic, with the physics all present and done well, than the SFX heavy video game cut scenes of the latest Spider-Man movies.

Put this video in the OP ;)

This is my rank:

1.Spider-Man 2: Most memorable swings, emotionally powerful and visually stunning.
2.TASM 2: It has the best looking effects(duh!) although sometimes it looked cartoony
3.Spider-Man: Although limited by the CGI at the time, they're still fun and the ending is the most memorable of all.
4.Spider-Man 3: Great looking swings specially with the black suit but not enough of them.
5.TASM: The effects look good but the physics were terrible, there were moments when he would swing up in a horizontal line, besides Spidey sometimes looked like a frog with unrealistic body movements.

Raimi pushed the envelope of the last decade in terms of cgi and directing/camera tricks. Raimi invented a new filming technique. Webb just used cgi. Raimi did something special. Webb didn't.

Also to those saying the CGI in SM1-3 looks terrible to ASM1-2...see you in 10 years and see what you say lol. Guess what, ASM1-2 will look like crap in 10 years. Sad thing is, a lot of ASM2 already looks like crap...particularly the final fight sequence. It looked like a video game.

The CGI in sm1 looks pretty bad. The CGI in sm2 still holds up while for the most part and some of the CGI in sm3 looked kind of bad when the movie first came out and you are died wrong the worst shoot in asm1 looks a million times better then the best shoot in sm1. ASM2 looks amazing realistic and will age much much better then sm1. Also having sm climb up his webs in asm2 was a great tuch. The last fight with elector looks better then any of the CGI in any of the other sm movies out side of the amazing train fight in sm2 so you are clearly just hating on the movie just because you don't like the movie.

The fight in the Power Plant looked like a PS2 videogame, there was nothing believable about it. The design of the costume doesn't help either, the big Spidey eyes make it look like a cartoon.

PD: The Sandman visual effects are more impressive than anything in TASM series.

The big eyes make it look like a cartoon??? What?? I guess the red and blue spandex suit makes it look like a cartoon as well. This is Spider-Man, he's supposed to have big bug eyes like that, it looked straight from the comics.

There's good and bad CGI in both franchises.

Agreed, in a couple shots of TASM1 and 2 the CGI does look noticeable. And in a couple shots of swinging from the Raimi trilogy looks pretty good too. They each have their highs and lows, I just prefer the ASM swinging over the Raimi because the CGI is improved drastically as the well as the fundamentals behind the physics. It looks like a real life Spider-Man swinging.

Spider-Man feels more like a thrill seeker in the newer films, the swinging is really fun to watch. I loved how we finally got to see POV shots of Spider-Man swinging, it was a real experience in 3D. They looked quite realistic, and they gave me a huge rush while watching, as if I was swinging there with him.

CGI is always going to be somewhat noticeable in these movies. That's just the way it is.

I feel the CGI is the most noticeable in TASM2, but it doesn't look fake, there's just a lot of it and the context it's used for makes the use of CGI obviously needed. The CGI looks the fakest in SM1.

Hmm, I think a lot of the CGI in TASM2 did look fake though. Just look at the power plant scene where Electro says, "And I will be like a God to them!"
