Which Film Had the Better Trailer? Pirates or Spider-Man (or Shrek)?

What I meant is hundred times, not films.

You see, every film has drama aspect and some funny moments, but they (jokes) can't cover the story itself, what makes it's more harder for film to be made right.

Spider-man films are way different if you compare them with Pirates. I am too tired to type all reasons, why Spidey films are better than Pirates, so that's why I'll say only one - Spidey films have the main character as cause of dramatic climax, while Capt. Jack Sparrow was supposed to be the copy of Han Solo with new look and manners. BTW, I see the another problem of Sparrow is that with every new film he becomes more and more predictable and unfunny. Having him as great character in POTC1 didn't work well in sequel, because the creators gave him too much time and part, what made him less interested.

Amen to that.
Even POTC die hard fans must admit that they tried to make Jack too funny with no avail in DMC. If you thought that the majority of his jokes were funny, then you are either devoted to the movie, or you have the sense of humor of a 2nd grader.

Agreed. Jack Sparrow was overused in DMC and I was expecting to see something from his another side of personality.

Pirates trailer had a bigger scope, Jack's "Four of you tried to kill me. One of you suceeded" was funny. Spidey's second, though.

I just watched all three final trailers... And damn it's close, people know I've voiced that Pirates might not do as well as people think but the latest trailer does have me rethinking that position because it looks bad ass... Shrek 3 looks funny as usual, however a little bit of retreading, but it seems like an interesting plot with the villains and there were some really funny bits. Spider-Man 3 seems to be a geek's dream and the action looks awesome. However if I had to give it to one, I'd give it to Pirates 3... The damn thing looks awesome even if Pirates 2 sucked so incredibly hard :(

Spider-man 3, while assuredly will rock, had a pretty mediocre trailer. It didnt reveal much about the plot. Pirates on the other hand, was the total opposite. It was epic, told you everything in 2 mins and looked beautiful. SM3 had alot of unfinished, blatant CGI.

THIS IS ALL OPINION based on info we all know. It is just a matter of prefrence. SM3 shows itself as character and plot driven and Pirates shows itself as action and comedy driven.

Which ever franchise or tone you prefer you will vote for. There is too much needless points that can be turned around on each other flying around here.

Like for example, "I've already seen spidey fight villains and swing," well you've also already seen Pirates fighting. Pirate ships in cannon fire, IS NOT ORIGINAL. You also see "How often do you see whirlpool fights" well how often do you see battle royales above NYC?

It is all subjective. Just stop.

I think both are great, I like Pirates better though it appeals to me a tad bit more, I've never been much of a city person, open sea adventures with a rouges gallery of interesting characters appeals to me alot more than a confined city and one dominate character, but i still really enojy the first two spidey movies (the first is one of my 20 favorite movies ever)

im just really confused.

after hearing alot of you praise the pirates trailer. i had to go back and watch it again. was there something I missed?

nope, the trailer was just as uninteresting as the first time i watched it. the same thing that went on in the 2nd one, but more of it, and that's not a good thing. i still don't completely understand the 2nd one, and now they've added in even more pirates. at least the first was somewhat grounded, but now it's just gettin ridiculous.

i'm glad all 3 movies are being released so close. i know spider-man and pirates will kill shrek, but now, we'll finally see what the real blockbuster is, and I have no doubt in my mind it'll be spider-man.

No offense but the word spider is in your name, I wasn't expecting much else than a post like this

Is it any different with someone like PirateLord or that Matrix guy who started a thread about special effects?

Has any of these started appearing on TV yet? Outside of the special releases during Heroes or Dancing with the Stars?

I don't really watch tv to much so I wouldn't know

Not at all

just most spiderman fans give Piratelord ****, so I was just kinda doing the same, but with out the spite

Doesn't make PirateLord any less deserving though. I've read his posts. They are antagonistic by nature especially for someone who's just joined.

No man, I agree with you

but the same rules should go for someone who sees the opposite of you too Erz, I don't always agree with everything word for word what Piratelord says, like say he says "Pirates is 500 million times better than Spiderman, and makes it its *****" (Piratelord, not saying that is what you have ever said, just using it for the sake of argument) I would say "Pirates is like 5 times better than Spiderman(if that), but Spiderman is still lord of comic book movies"

Well it depends. If the topic is Batman Begins and someone replies to my post that BB sucks. I'd probably make them look like an idiot. If he responds with something intelligent, I usually try and debate them intelligently. And not to pat myself on the back, I pretty much do that with you and Pirates. I never say it sucks, I just say it didn't do it for me.

Fair point Erz, but look at Slyspideys post, and he says the Pirates trailer was uninteresting, I don't even think you have said that trailer looks uninteresting....I mean, slyspidey basically is saying that nothing of that trailer, not one second of it, he is interested in; so much that even that high up fight between DJ and Sparrow, he isn't even interested enough to see that play out

like there are people who say that they dond't think it looks good, but i garuntee those people are even a bit interested to see how the final battle transpires ya know?

I mean, by all means call his post what you will, but I kind of saw that as a blindingly saying the one movie that 'could' possibley hurt Spiderman at the box office (and probably won't even cause it is released so far away, just its probably one of 3 movies that could be no. 1 along with Spidey HP, and a darkhorse in Transformers) doesn't look interesting in the least bit

here are some recent trailers that got me excited to see a movie, Casino Royal, Prestige, Transformers, TMNT teaser, Ghost Rider teaser.

i loved the first pirates movie, and from what ive seen so far, people say the first was the best. the second one was overrated.

i really would like to know what the big deal about jack and davy fighting with swords is? that seems to be the shot everyone is interested in. ive seen sword fights before. i mean, if it's like agent smith and neo fighting at the end of the first matrix movie, where i know it's never been done before, neo is committing suicide, or something like that, THEN i understand. but it just looks to me like to sword fighters fighting.

But there are different strokes for different folks, LS. I'm sure there are plenty of trailers, you watch and you just aren't interested in seeing them. And if Slyspidey is saying there isn't 1 second in that interests him, that should be respected it's his opinion. I looked at his post twice, and it's not "trollish" at all. It's just how he sees it.

Another example. I saw MI 1 and MI 2, and some people went on and on about MI 3's trailer but it didn't really interest me.

It'd be a nother thing if Slyspidey was saying "sucks" or hyping up Spidey or Shrek but look at the last paragraph when he says that he thinks Pirates will beat Shrek. There's nothing antagonistic.

Remember, not everyone is going to see things the way you did.

its like 2 seconds long, for me, yeah that shot is sweet, but I wanna see how they get up there, and what happens around them

thats where I say, really? not interested at all? not the least bit?

Erz MI-3 the trailer did very little for me, but the bridge thing when cruise like does the action movie jump as the missle hits the bridge and gets sent back, that interest me, just that little second, and I saw the movie because of it, and I loved it, that is more so what I mean

there are always gunna be trailers that don't work for you, but to say you are completely not interested in something is a bold statement imo, like TMNT I hated every minute of the trailer, but hey its still the trutles it can't suck that bad

Well, to be honest, some people could care less about the characters in the Pirates films and therefore don't feel attached or connected to the final battles or fights or whatever.

For example, when I first saw clips from the Anakin/Obi-Wan duel, my first reaction wasn't just based solely on the visual beauty of the sequence. I was drawn in because it was Anakin and Obi Wan (student and mentor who we've watched grow as individuals through the last two films). Davy Jones vs. Jack Sparrow visually looks appealing, but do we care enough about the characters and their developments to actually feel emotionally drawn into the fight?
