I like these designs for Hal

He doesn't want people to know who he is and it looks cool. Makes perfect sense.
Nah. Doesn't look cool. He even wears it off-world where nobody even knows Hal Jordan. Doesn't make sense & it REALLY didn't look anything close to cool in live action.
It's not necessary. Nothing is, really. Since you're creating a new version of this universe and can remove or include whatever you want. But there's no reason not to keep it.

Domino masks worked fine for The Comedian and Arrow.
Looking lame & not covering up enough to conceal one's identity is plenty of reason not to keep it. Comedian's didn't really cover enough either, it just didn't look as lame as Hal's bright green one. Arrow has a hood in addition to the mask. Hell, they even called him "The Hood" at 1st.
Look, let's end this debate like this. When he is in space (mostly in his Green Lantern solo movies) he doesn't wear the mask. When he is on Earth (mostly dealing with JL or coming back to Earth as Green Lantern) he wears the mask.
But then he still looks silly on Earth. Using John or Guy ends the mask debate instantly :oldrazz:
They shouldn't even try to pass that idea that it can hide someone's identity as it's silly
Bingo!
John's Injustice:GAU designs. I like the one on the left the most. Not a huge fan of them, but even the worst of them is better than what we got w/Hal. I wouldn't mind a mixture of these

&this w/more texture would be optimal

I don't understand the reasoning behind armoured or weathered costume designs for GL. Does GL need to be wearing armour, and is his "costume" subject to wear and tear?

GLs use their imaginations to create their unis, just like the constructs. That's why we see the variations from Lantern to Lantern. They can also change them with a mere thought should the necessity arise.

In theory, there could be a base design for GL in the movie with a different one for a chaotic battle. However, that would be costly.

I know that, but why do some of these manips feature what looks like kevlar?

I'm sure that's just for the aesthetics. Nothing about a GL's uniform needs to be explained beyond his/her personal preference. Kyle used to wear boots that looked like MMA shin guards because that's what he pictured in his mind.

The first one I could definitely see working in this universe! I really like that one too  I'd make the dark green black, but overall it looks great and it'd fit in the DCCU!

There's never actually been consistency in this. The costume is a construct of the ring, yet in battles, it gets torn like a fabric, revealing skin.

I still think the idea behind the suit in Green Lantern, that it burns away or turns transparent the skin of the wearer. On the surface it's an easy way to explain why there's a uniform for every species because it's just their skin.

It's just the method of construction was bad.

No offense, but the bunch of designs posted on the last couple of pages are, IMO, absolutely awful.

Yeah I understand where your coming from, but at the same time I don't think ALL the manips should fall under tier. I took a lot of time and effort to make mine; it looks as close as possible to my favorite suit design for Hal Jordan.

I took the Max Steel suit because it is the closest thing to a 'skin-like' armored suit. I think the rings aura should forge the suit.

For the ring, I wanted the aura of the ring to consume the arm with energy. Sort of like the 'Hand of God' type of deal, being able to create anything with the power of will.

there's nothing wrong with your manip, i think they were just talking about the designs Bmcaaby posted, which are admittedly very weird and out there, and not at all what I'd want to see.

harryoscop- yeah i love that first one as well, it's pretty perfect looking imo.

I hope they stay away from the CGI suit this time. Give him an actual costume, maybe light up the Lantern logo on his chest/ring when he's using his powers but save the rest of the CGI for constructs. I thought the CGI suit was awful.

I think a GL suit can look good in cgi as long as they don't design it to stand out AS cgi

i agree. a practical suit with some digital effects added in post is the way to go.

Reminder Zack Snyder made Dr Manhattan like this:

DrManhattan-1.jpg
Whocares? DM isn't wearing a costume, he's literally a naked glowing blue dude.

Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck are wearing practical costumes so I assume any GL in a Justice League film will be wearing one. There is no reason to make the suit completely CGI.

The suit doesn't HAVE to be CGI but my point is that they went out of their way to make it appear gimmicky/standout in the GL movie with Reynolds. It could be done better and not stand out

I don't think they went out of their way to draw attention to it at all, I mean that's a curious observation to me.

All I can say is to me CGI shouldn't be used on pointless things like a costume that can easily be made into a physical thing. I mean we aren't talking about Iron Man or a talking tree here, CGI helps those things work better on screen. The CGI Green Lantern suit was a waste of time, effort, money and to top it all off...yeah it did look pretty distractingly fake to me.

I mean sure you can get ILM to do the perfect Superman, Batman, Captain America and Thor costumes but why? You could just make the suits.

Whatever they do with the suit, it needs to be less armory and more uniform-y this time 'round. None of that organic crap like in the last one, either. GL is a space cop...his suit should reflect that. Neat and slick...symmetric...something that jumps out at you. None of this armor crap.

Also I prefer they use Hal Jordan, but John, Kyle, or Guy wouldn't bother me, either (I'm just hoping we get a GL at this point), but Hal definitely needs to be the GL if they ever do a rebooted GL film/series, and should show up at some point in JLA regardless for a few minutes to interact with whoever is GL in that film to set up a new GL series if the GL that ends up being used is someone other than Hal. Then in Hal's new (hopefully) trilogy, the GL in the JL film can show up and interact with Hal for minimum and/or extended amounts of time, connecting the films/characters together.

my biggest pet peeve with hal designs is when people give him a domino mask that doesn't cover his nose. come to think of it, i've seen a few artists do it when drawing his new52 look. it's like they don't even know the costume. i'm thinking of things i've seen from fans, not dc's books. anyway, i just hope we GET a green lantern in justice league.

edit--looks like hair defender agrees with my last thought :D

I still think that WB should use the first GL movie as origins of Hal Jordan as GL till the part where he gets training on OA, ignore the rest.

They could bring back Ryan Reynolds or recast the actor and redesign Hal Jordan's GL costume.
