Yeah I loved the Mark 50 in Infinity War but they haven't quite captured that chunky suit aesthetic of the first one since.

I think this may be because nowadays they use too much motion capture. The suit moves like it's someone's second skin and it's little physical details like the one above what used to give the sutis an extra element of believability.

Now as far as origin films that were not great in the MCU...Cap his origin film was not great and neither was Scott/Ant Man but GOTG their origin film how is it not in this poll? Guardians Vol 1 has to be considered a true origin film

1. Guardians of the Galaxy
2. Iron Man
3. Dr Strange
4. Thor
5. Captain America
6. Captain Marvel
7. Ant-Man

I added in Guardians of the Galaxy and took out Black Panther since it's not really an origin story.

No TIH love?

For me, it's easily Iron Man. It's not even close.

8. Thor

Captain America because we actually got to know and care about skinny Steve before he even got powers. IM may have started the whole thing, but Steve was more endearing than Stark.

Guardians
Cap - Guardians is a better movie but this is my favorite.
Iron Man
Black Panther - Though I'm not sure it's 100% an origin, more like a spin-off.
Ant-Man
DrS
Thor
Capt Marvel - Effects are better in this than Thor, but there's something missing.
Spider-man - Again this seems like a spin-off more than an origin
Hulk

Iron Man, and it's not even close with the rest of them.

Iron Man for sure.

Iron Man, then Captain Marvel. I think those two are pretty clearly a step above the rest. Unless you count Guardians of the Galaxy, in which case, I'd have it in the top spot. Black Panther didn't have a solo origin film. His was in Civil War.

Iron Man nailed the character from Day One and was such a breath of fresh air at the time. I know some people are tired of the Marvel formula, but it exists for a reason.

I’d still consider Black Panther an origin film in the sense it gives you the mythology of the mantel being passed down between generation to generation. That’s basically Black Panther’s full origin that it dates back hundreds of years.

Right, but it was not about him becoming the BP. He was already BP come CW. It also was not about him becoming king. He became king in CW, they just didn't do the formalities. Thus, I see it as a sequel.

Hulk is my least favorite MCU movie now.

Likewise, though its possible Captain Marvel might beat it ( my views on the movie are still shifting around ).

Its just so. . . empty. Like they were so terrified of the reaction the Ang Lee movie got, that they built a movie around the most flat and lifeless cliches out of central casting, and then didn't even give them any flavor. Every story beat played exactly the way you predicted a half hour before, and none of the characters were any fun. The special effects were questionable, the character designs ugly or boring, and even basic scene-to-scene continuity was laughable ( with more than one time the day/night cycle flipped mid-scene for no reason ).

Every other MCU film, even the worst of them, I can point to positive reasons that make them enjoyable or otherwise provide redeeming value. TIH has nothing.

Captain America the first Avenger is the most underrated and underappreciated film in the MCU. It's truly a magnificent piece of film making that could have easily failed on so many levels. It's a glorious film in its own right and introduced to the world the greatest cinematic superhero of ALL time.

Iron Man with TFA very closely behind.

Having not seen Captain Marvel, I still think Iron Man is the best origin film. I also don't consider Black Panther to be an origin film but if I did, it would be first.

The First Avenger aged surprisingly well. I didn't care much for it when it came out, but I think it greatly benefitted from everything that came after. It's still got a rushed third act and an underwhelming Red Skull but it's so much more charming now that we know more of Peggy, Steve's friendship with Bucky, etc. It's one of the best examples of how the serialized formula made an origin film better. It's just below Iron Man for me.

Captain America is a brilliant origin because it shows the strength and personality of Steve Rogers, He starts off as a man who has the heart and courage but doesn't have the appropriate appearance or chance to serve his country. Steve goes to great lengths to join the military yet he is denied every time, but he doesn't give up. "I can do this all Day". Even though Bucky tells him there are other positions available. Steve stands his ground that he has a right like every other solider to fight.

The sequence with Steve and Dr. Enskin is beautiful because it in compass why Steve was chosen to become the Super Soldier.

In short summary the origin of Captain America is challenging and yet marvel was able to deliver and Imo it has made the character even stronger in both a trilogy for Cap and his importance in the 4 Avengers films.

Guardians should be part of the poll because they are not considered as separate heroes.
