I get it. When I updated my signature I had to debate between AoU and CW, which some people might not be able to wrap their head around, haha. But really as much as I like CW and loved the inclusion of Spider-Man, it's kind of like watching mom and dad split up. Which is still brewing in AoU, but we get to see the Avengers put their own quarrels aside to...you know...avenge or whatever.

I'm personally looking forward to seeing Shocker a bit more than Vulture as well. Even though all things considered he is probably even more lame than the Vulture, Herman Schultz just lucked out that a better outfit was drawn for him. I mean, almost every Spider-Man villian has had liberties taken with them, some for better some for worse, I would say not one villain has been adapted 100% accurately in that franchise (in any franchise?), besides mmmaybe DaFoe's Norman Osborn. Or course a Spider-Man villain should provide more than just some great action scenes, but I think the visual variety Vulture offers compared to what we've seen already in the previous 5 movies was a big reason for settling on him. They can rework him into a more compelling character just like Otto Octavius.

Personally I'm holding out for Mysterio.

Glad it's not just me with Shocker and Vulture. I actually don't think Vulture is that visually appealing either. I think Scorpion would have been a much better pick. Kraven is another one as well.

Dude you don't know how badly I want to see Scorpion. I actually started writing my first fan-fic for an Amazing Spider-Man 3 that included him at the ripe old age of 28 HAHA. It was simultaneously fun and embarrasing, never finished it.

The trouble there is you have to build up JJJ and his resentment for Spider-Man that unfortunately would paint the character in an unfavorable light compared to J.K. Simmons portrayal. It has to be clear that he made a mistake, and he has to have a damn good reason to cross the line that far and then regret it later.

That offering would be a must see for me. I'd really like to see someone use the new IMAX 3D camera and shoot a native 3D movie. I think the Russo's are using the new 2D camera for IW and then it's being converted.

I'm a big 3D fan when it's done right and appear to be in the minority. I don't know much about the new IMAX cameras in terms of ease of use. I suppose the 3D camera is more difficult to use? Who said making a cool movie was supposed to be easy anyway?

I saw Hugo in 3D at the theater and again on my home theater. What a gorgeously shot movie that was. I can watch it again for the cinematography alone.

I also enjoy 3D when it is done well, but it does get uncomfortable. It's weird though, I recall Amazing Spider-Man 1 being shot in 3D, and the sequel was not. But I thought ASM2 really had some great 3D effects. I actually paid to see that format twice in the theater. I have yet to see Hugo, thanks for reminding me about that one!

If you have a 3D home theater and the 3D Blu Ray, it is a must see. You can google James Cameron and Martin Scorcese and get James' take on the photography which he describes as the best use of 3D photography he's ever seen.

I think they could it and still make JJ sympathetic. Have him help Spidey take Scorpion down and apologise to him after hating on him so much. I think we need a proper introduction to JJ first though, so maybe Scorpion is a couple more movies away, which is a damn shame.

For me, The Avengers is still top dog. That was a special event I am not sure will be topped for me.

I really wish I hadn't been a comic n00b when it first came out. But then I suppose the wait for Infinity War would seem even longer then!

Current rankings from the poll:
1) Civil War
2) The Winter Soldier
3) The Avengers
4) Guardians Of The Galaxy
5) Iron Man

After much deliberation, Winter Soldier still edges it just, for me.

Winter Soldier has a tighter script and slightly better action, so that's my #1. Civil War is great, but it has a lot more to juggle and the plot involving the villain is a little sloppy. But those two films, along with the first Iron Man and Avengers are some of the finest comic book films of all time.

Actually, speaking of the villain in Civil War, I think they should have focused more on Secretary Ross instead of using Zemo as the villain.

Maybe Ross is the one that shows the tape to Tony Stark to get him to kill Cap and Bucky. Would've flowed better I think, I don't know. But still a great film.

And Civil War gave us Spider-Man.

Winter Soldier.

I love the message, the action is top tier, the ending always gives me the feels and the "hydra" twist was prophetic.

Avengers is a close second for being a grade A comic book come to life. So much fun like classic movies from the 80's.

Captain America has the best MCU trilogy so far IMO. Although Civil War feels more like Avengers 2.5

It's easily the second best superhero trilogy and arguably the best.

There's been discussions already however with TDKT and CAT, there's a distinct drop off usually because of the subpar to average third movie. However, I think IM could be easily argued as third best CB trilogy.

The First Avenger isn't the best CBM, but it's much better than IM2 and IM3. Imagine if the Iron Man sequels had the same quality as the first film.

I kind of go back and forth, but for me, it's either Winter Soldier or Avengers.

I may still be coming off a high form right, but right now I'll say Civil War.

Have to disagree with that one. IM1 is great but for me that's the only great movie out of the 3. The others are good but nothing amazing.

Raimi's Spiderman trilogy, and the X-Men First Class trilogy both had 2 great movies in them. Yes there is a steep drop off with the 3rd movies (though not as steep as some make out). But the first 2 being great within each trilogy would put it above the IM trilogy for me.

As always though people will think differently, I maybe see a poll forthcoming regarding that :cwink:.

The Winter Soldier.

Gonna have my yearly MCU marathon coming up in January. Might do a ranking of the movies.

Iron Man 3 is better than Spider-Man 3, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men: Apocalypse, Batman Forever and Superman III. More or less even with The Dark Knight Rises, but not better than Civil War.

As far as third movies go, it's one of the best. The Iron Man trilogy could definitely be a contender for best, but I'd imagine for most it would come down to personal preference.

We have a poll for best first movie, we could move on to best second and third... before stacking up the trilogies in their entirety against each other...

Iron Man 3 is better than SM3 and X3, but I think Spider-Man 2 and X2 are far better than Iron Man 2.

Agreed.

Personally I am not a huge fan of IM3 though and would put Apocalypse above it.

Definitely. Iron Man 2 has found it's way towards the bottom of the MCU for most it seems, myself included. It is easily the weakest of the three.

I'm of the opinion that The Last Stand and especially Spider-Man 3 aren't even terrible. Though they both have plenty of mistakes and misfires. Apocalypse was a disappointing, I don't know if it's better than or even with The Last Stand...
