Because Spidey stole from Superman. He's not more popular, he's a rip-off.

He's not more popular? I like Supes more than I like Spidey but until I see Supes gross 2.5 billion dollars with only 3 films, I'm going to have to say Spidey is indeed more popular.

Just because Spidey "ripped his shirt" does not make him a rip off. They we're blatantly paying homage to Superman in the first Spider-Man film, Aunt May even said "You're not Superman you know".

Because the makers of Spider-Man stayed true to his mythos. In Superman the same villain appeared 4 out of five times and 2 of the movies made up a new villain. Superman's mythos totally abandoned.

Agreed, I sure hope Zack Snyder actually does Superman "justice" with this film. I don't see why Brainiac, Metallo, or Darkseid haven't been used in a Superman film yet (sigh).

User 'Man of Steel' needs to use his head because all comics 'copy from each other'. They all take bits and pieces from other titles, creating templates for their mythos.

Besides, I've always saw Spider-Man as an homage to Superman, but by making Spider-Man more 'working class' and modern (post 1950s).

Yeah, that's just the nature of Golden and Silver age comics. Heck, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby would sometimes pull a Hanna Bararra and create ripoffs of their own work. (Like how Hanna-Bararra came up with Scooby Doo wanna bes). They were artists and storytellers in their own right, but they wanted to get paid too. Gotta feed the family!

Spider-Man is not an homage, he is a rip-off. First of all, how many other superheroes before Spidey had a nerdy, glasses-wearing alter-ego? Silver-Age Clark Kent is definately nerdy. Second, who else had a red-and-blue suit design pre-Spider-Man besides Superman and Captain America?

JJ. Abrams star trek in terms of pacing and feel, i think it would be more interesting if it's more of a sci-fi world than superhero movie. It make him more vulnerable if he's surrounded in a more out this world vibe.

To me,Peter Parker is basically Jimmy Olsen as a superhero. A nerdy,fun young photographer.
