Homecoming Which Sony elements/influences should be retained for this movie

Lose just about everything from the TASM movies minus the TASM 2 suit.

Basically this. Even the suit should be reworked a bit though. Smaller chest emblem, the round spider emblem on the back, etc. But nothing drastic.

In light of all the direct benefits Sony gets out of this deal, letting Marvel Studios use their Spider-Man license and work for/with them FOR FREE in relaunching the Spidey franchise as part of the MCU pretty much qualifies as "giving up virtually nothing".

Well yes, because they still get money from the Spider-Man movies...

Yes. And Marvel gets every penny from their MCU films with Spider-Man.

Marvel gets something better: they get all the merchandise money. You think if SONY got merch money, they would be prostrating themselves like this?

Sony benefits directly, while Marvel benefits both directly and indirectly. It's a nice deal for both sides, and Sony didn't lose much of anything in making it, especially in light of everything that it gains them.

...and change the whites of the eyes for a thicker uneven black boarder as mentioned on other threads.

I'd like the eyes to be something like this:

Well, since Sony was responsible for TSSM, and this movie is supposedly focusing on a younger Peter Parker dealing with high school and superhero-ing, I suggest that everyone working on the new film takes some hints from that.

On a more serious note, I say keep the ''mask on'' thing that TASM and TASM 2 had going on and keep the CGI Sony. I really liked the textures on the Lizard in TASM and I enjoyed all of the CGI in TASM 2 (although some of Electro's effects were a little over the top). Also, keep Zimmer please.

I don't think Zimmer will be involved with the reboot, even if the eventual director worked with him before. Even though Zimmer returned to score BVS, he brought on Junkie XL to score the Batman sections because he didn't want to repeat what he did on the Nolan TDK trilogy.

I think the eventual director will have more say in the composer that comes on, since Avi Arad won't have any creative say. Webb was instrumental in getting James Horner to score TASM, but Horner declined to work on TASM2 because of the storyline.

The Sony elements retained will likely be the following:
- Sony Pictures Imageworks as primary VFX vendor.
- The score will be recorded in L.A. as part of Columbia's contract with ASCAP and AFM (like the last five films were).

I want a score that elevates the scenes without stealing attention from them. A good example is Elfman's score. A bad example is the score during the Times Square sequence in TASM2.

I didn't mind it as it was creative! And it kinda merged the soundtrack with the film which is probably something you wouldn't want to do ever again in a Spiderman movie.

Actually whilst we're on that subject NO DUBSTEP ever again in Spiderman film, ever.

I sort of enjoy listening to the TASM2 score on it's own but it doesn't work very well in the film.

I think the score for the 2017 film should be more "traditional." We need a catchy theme that sticks for all the movies.

I said something similar on the composer thread. I liked the idea of Elfman doing the score, and I liked the "spinning" sound to it. But I wished it was catchier like his Batman theme or John Williams' Superman theme. I'd like it to have that 60's cartoon theme and Spectacular theme vibe. Do it up jazzy like the end credits for Iron Man 3.

I like the Bluetooth...in case Aunt May calls while he in the heat of battle or in close contact with the team....he can fake it, like it friends in the cafeteria. :halo:

Just saying......it can come in use while he's doing things...or the team may need to relay info or strategy, from afar. :O

Wasn't Spider-Man supposed to have a built-in MP3 player in his costume for TASM2? Oh well.

In all honesty, I'd like to see organic webbing again. I know web shooters are how it works in the comics, but I personally think organic webs make more sense. Since we've already seen web shooters in the TASM duology, I wouldn't mind a return to organic. I know some people may disagree though.

I wouldn't mind seeing the organic web shooters again if they went in that direction. But I feel like we haven't seen the full potential of Peter Parker using web shooters. They were just sort of 'there' in the Webb films and weren't utilized very well. He just orders the webbing from Oscorp and all is well. Pfft.
