Brosnan in Goldeneye was a great Bond. And then the other movies happened. Brosnan was wasted ImO. Only Martin Campbell utilized Brosnan well.

I agree, Brosnan is my favorite based on Goldeneye alone, I'm one of those who enjoys every Bond film (I own them all) but I cannot deny the three films that followed Goldeneye were very subpar. Wasted indeed. They had some great moments here and there though.

Brosnan is my favorite, but I wish he had starred in better Bond movies. Brosnan, to me, is Bond. He had a laid back, confident, smooth way about him that no other Bond actor had. He seemed effortless in the role.

Having said that...

My Top 5:
1. Goldfinger
2. GoldenEye
3. Casino Royale
4. Skyfall
5. On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Roger Moore was an abomination. I hate everything he did. Worst Bond ever.

Well since everyone is doing a top 5;

Goldfinger
Skyfall
From Russia with Love
Casino Royale
License to Kill

I wish I could see an alternate universe where Connery and Moores placements were flipped around, so that Moore was the first Bond, and see how people would vote then. I know many people who say Connery was the best Bond, having seen few or none of his films. It's kind of the kneejerk response since he was first, and thus, every other Bond is somewhat based on his portrayal. It would be illogical to say that there could never be someone who could be a better Bond in every way, yet I think, even if that happened, people would still vote Connery

Skyfall
From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
Goldeneye
Casino Royale
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Thunderball
Live and Let Die

Of the Moore films I've seen, the only one I could get into was Live and Let Die.

Recently watched You Only Live Twice and Never Say Never Again, both I really enjoyed.

Sean Connery is still the best, and he has the most Bond movies that I'd consider classic (Dr. No, Goldfinger, Thunderball, and my all-time favorite, From Russia With Love).

Daniel Craig is now second in my book, with Casino Royale and Skyfall. Quantum Solace was a letdown, though.

I love all the bonds. But if I had to rank them this is my list.

1. Pierce Brosnan
2. Sean Connery
3. Roger Moore
4. Daniel Craig
5. George Lazenby
6. Timothy Dalton

David Niven - Not sure who this is.

I'd rate Pierce Brosnan higher if he has more than one great movie. But except for Goldeneye, none of his other movies were better than average imo. It's too bad, since he has the cool & suave secret agent look down pat.

For a top 5 I'd have:

1. Casino Royale
2. Skyfall
3. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
4. From Russia With Love
5. Goldfinger

I said not too long ago in the Spectre thread that my current favorite is Connery, though I fully expect Craig to surpass him in my eyes by the time he's done. I stand by that. That's assuming they don't screw everything up in the next two films of course.

My full actor rankings:

  1. Connery
  2. Craig
  3. Dalton
  4. Moore
  5. Lazenby
  6. Brosnan

My top ten movies:

  1. Skyfall
  2. Thunderball
  3. For Your Eyes Only
  4. Licence to Kill
  5. From Russia with Love
  6. The Living Daylights
  7. Casino Royale
  8. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
  9. Dr. No
  10. Quantum of Solace

I used to think like that, but just over the summer I went back and watched all of the Bond movies, seeing many of them for the first time, and I completely changed my tune. There's a reason people like Connery. It's because he plays a damn good James Bond.

I need to rewatch the Dalton films. I remember liking him a lot but I remember little else.

Connery
Timothy Dalton

I actually prefer Brosnan over all to Craig as an actor. Brosnan just didn't have good material to work with besides Goldeneye. :oldrazz:

David Niven - Not sure who this is.

Long time English actor from films like The Pink Panther and The Guns of Navarone. He won the Best Actor Oscar for Separate Tables.

He played James Bond in the 1967 version of Casino Royale.

I'm going to be cliche and say Sean Connery, but if Timothy Dalton had better material then he would have been the best Bond.

Craig. He's the closest to literary Bond I've seen, but I love the added depth the films have given him. I will say though, I enjoy every single Bond, and think they're all great in their own interpretation.

1. Rowan Atkinson
2. Don Adams
3. Eddie Griffin
4. Mike Myers
5. Leslie Nielsen
6. Jean Dujardin
