The great debate that still wages on. Discuss which of the EON James Bond actors (so no 1967 Casino Royale) was the Best Bond

Bonds-6.jpg

Top 3: Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton
Bottom 3: Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig

Connery and it isn't even close. The others have their moments, but Connery's performance is iconic.

I voted for Dalton since he's closest to literary Bond. Though Lazenby was in the most book accurate adaptation. Dalton captured Fleming's man perfectly though he was at the disadvantage of not having an original Fleming tale but from a character standpoint he got it.

I grew up watching Roger Moore, and assumed he was the first Bond ever. However, I saw Connery's Bond films years later and there's really no contest; Connery is still the best James Bond, ever. I used to think Brosnan is the second best, but most of his films were uneven, and Daniel Craig is fast becoming my new second favorite. However, he will need to do better than QoS in his next film, though.

I'll go ahead and be "controversial" and say Pierce Brosnan is my favorite. Not for the movies in themselves, but for his portrayal of the character of course. I grew up on Connery and Moore, and Brosnan seems to really embody the best of both worlds in my opinion.

Funny thing is, even though I give Brosnan the top spot for combining Connery and Moore, Connery gets a close second place while Moore either finishes dead last, or gets a spot just over Lazenby.

For me it's Sean Connery all the way.

The one i enjoy least (ok, i dont like him much) is Timothy Dalton, the man just didnt feel right to me as Bond

I just loved Moore's Universe better. Hotter women. Better bad guys. Cooler gadgets.

Co-sign.

Moore will always be Bond to me, even though i like Bronson second despite his movies not being that great, i liked his take on Bond too.

Craig has yet to impress me as Bond. He's way too stoic. I like CR, but QoS sucked.

Connery will always reign supreme.

i love sean connery and pierce brosnan as the classic (cartoony superhero-esque) bond..

but casino royale was the greatest bond film... and craig brought the character to a different (and imo better) ground.

I don't know necessarily if he's the "best" Bond because I haven't watched every movie in the series and I don't know the mythology too well but Daniel Craig is "my" Bond.

Long live connery.

my personal fav is Daniel but Connery is just the man.

Well i've seen ever bond movie numerous times, and my personal favorites in order

  1. Pierce Brosnan - my favorite bond
  2. Sean Connery
  3. Daniel Craig
  4. George Lazenby - it's a shame he was only in one
  5. Roger Moore
  6. Timothy Dalton

I got into Bond through Brosnan's films so I have a soft spot for him. Craig is quickly becoming my second favorite though.

Connery deserves immense props for making Bond a screen legend, but Craig easily gave the best performance in the role.

Craig showed no emotional range as Bond. For such a great actor, it's a waste making Bond this stoic one dimensional thug.

I disagree. Connery made it a legend precisely because he gave the best performance in the role. :p

his bond seems mostly sociopathic. but that makes his caring for vespa all the more poignant.

i do prefer bronson myself. the mix of sophistication, drive and physicality seems to be closest to what bond as the films have depicted him is meant to be, but as said before mixing connery and moore will do that.

ah... finally someone who favors Charles Bronson!

he's awesome in once upon a time in the west.

Sean Connery - was the Best
Brosnan, Craig and Dalton were all good.

George Lazenby and Roger Moore Sucked.

My I just point out that that's how he's written. Fleming, Amis, Gardner, Benson and Faulks all maintained the cold, emotionless killer. Aside from the deaths of Vesper, Tracy, Kizzy and James he's remained quite stoic.
