Superman Returns Who likes the Superkid?

Do you like the Superkid?

  • Yes superman is still superman, kid or no kid.

  • No it's not cool. Superman can't have a son.

  • Maybe he's not superman's, maybe he's lex's...

I don't have a problem with the kid. I do have a problem with this movie being connected to the Donner films. Part of it may be nostalgia, because I was 7 or 8 when the first film came out. I just don't see how these films can live up to that reputation.

To me it's unfair for the Actors as well. It's just going to draw more comparisons to Reeve's and company.

Now I know Keaton didn't embody the roll of Batman, the way Reeves did Superman, but the way Batman Begins was done, both Christian Bale and Keaton are accepted in the roll.

I never could except Kilmer or Clooney as the Dark Knight. They just paled in comparison to Keaton's Batman. With Bale, it would never occur to me to compare the two, because the movies are so different.

I have no feelings towards the kid. Although I am apprehensive about the idea, I am also intrigued by it. I'd like to see how it is handled in the film before I say anything either way.

Ah. But which mental disorder would they be? THAT is the question!

I think the kid is just there to appeal to the 12 and under demographic and the romance thing is to appeal to the teenage and older demographic.

Because kids like to watch kids?

Also, what's this piano talk?

No because kids like to watch other kids in action or in this case pissing off the bad guy with their wise ass words. Just look at Spy KIDS and those hundreds of other films and tell me how well that did. Pretty darn good to me.

Yes thats the reason thre're probably using the kid to appeal to that audience.

Those were succesful with kids because they're child-oriented, not because they have kids in large roles.

Well I think thats why they were successful because they had children in large roles.

But they were made for children. Returns may be family friendly, but it's not a movie designed to appeal to 8 year olds.

Dude SR is made for everyone including children.

Not exclusively for children, which is the category msot of the films you referenced before will probably fall under.

Well maybe not exclusively for children but certain aspects of it like the kid can fall under that category.

He has to die because if there're planning sequels then the kid would be pointless unless you see supes flying the kid to school as mini challenges to supes in the sequel.

What's this crap about a piano?

Apparently, according to Moriarty at AICN, the kid picks up a piano and whacks one of Luthor's henchmen. Confirming he is superman's son.

WHAT???!?!?!?! I never heard that before. OMG:eek:

...

Well that's going to make things interesting then. I don't see how any sequels are going to work with Supes having a kid. The stories would just follow his struggle to become a 'Daddy'.

I disagree. The only things kids want is to finally grow up and have more freedom etc. They won't learn how to do that from other kids. As a kid, I hated watching other kids in movies, but loved grown up heros because they were what I wanted to be when I grew up, well in a fantasy sense.

I never understood the whole "they stick kids in movies because kids like it." thing. Most kids in movies act more adult than the grownups to me anyway. The spy kids were given such power and responsibility they can hardly be called normal joe average kids.

Well, I only saw him like 3 seconds in the trailer.
Not enough to know if I like him or not in the actual context of the movie.
Jesus

Im not that happy about the kid. I am waiting to see how they play it out before deciding on it though.
