Homecoming Who should be the Villain in Spider-Man (2017)? - Part 3

Not sure we will get Goblin in first movie. Probably just Osborn. But I want to see Osborn developing "goblin formula" as part of process to recreate Cap's super-solider serum. That would be cool motive. And ofcourse Osborn using for actual costume hallowen's scary motives, instead going armor military suit route. Which we already got two poor versions of those in previous SM franchises. It should be just glider.

I really wonder in which way they will use and develop villains. Will they go small standalone route with Shocker as side character, but developing storyline connected to characters in Avengers like example I said above with super-solider serum. Or maybe Vulture, how Adrian Toomes developed his military suit similar to Falcon's EXO-7 Falcon suit he got from SHIELD. Maybe Hobgoblin, Kingsley stealing Norman's glider. There are endless possiblities.

I dont see Electro or Rhyno appearing in first movie. Electro would be redundant. Rhyno doesnt make much sense. And both of them were in last movie. And Lizard again as villain where we again introduce Spidey to cinematic universe isnt much of a way.

Doc Ock, Mysterio and Kraven makes some sense. Personally Mysterio would be really cool. I would save Kraven for Lizard's introduction. Where Spidey hunt Lizard and Kraven hunt Spidey in same time. That would be cool.

Honestly, Goblin makes sense as first villain because he is one of Spideys main villains and has a connection with spider-man/Peter. Lizard as starting villain also makes sense because he is one of the first prominent villains he fights in the comics, and also has a connection with Parker. I think the only person who would make more sense as a villain is either a film with a street level villain only like Shocker, where he is learning his skills. (Not likley since he is already SM and has been for a while) or Doc Ock. since he is another villain who has a connection and is a main villain of spider-man's.

Personally I think Doc. Ock was my fav villain from the past 5 films. From what I have heard many agree with me on this. If we can get a movie which starts with this villain, and re-introduces Spider-Man's universe in the MCU, I think it would work well.

A new villain would work, I just think that some villains which are unknown to the public, which would supposedly be good to use to start off a fresh new spider-man reboot, are also lesser villains and not main villains for Spidey. I personally think starting off with a main core villain who is able to come back later will work well. (Either way Norman should be in the background.)

Feige already said they want to play with villains that haven't been used yet. Vulture all the way...or Scorpion

I think having Spidey in the MCU is a good way to actually use the villain names instead of calling them by their real names. Spidey might prefer to give them a nickname or use the super villain name.

And hopefully J Jonah Jameson will name a few as well.

That doesn't mean they wont use Spider-Mans main villains as well...

Agreed! Like Cisco from The Flash.
But in that case Mysterio would be Fishbowl...
But I guess Mysterio would be the type of guy to name himself. (Wheras Doc. Octavius wouldn't call himself Doc. Ock)

High five! I never really understood the Mysterio love.

  Double! :highfive:

Me either, especially as a solo villain.

Feel like he's a perfect guy to be part of a group (ala Sinister Six) though, but that's about it. Only times I've felt differently about him being a solo villain were:

  • Raimi trilogy -- where we'd have an actual reveal that all those characters Bruce Campbell played were actually Quentin Beck trying to get away from his former special effects/stuntman career and it'd just work in Sam's love letter to the older villains (in the same way I was on board with Vulture until all the rumors started hitting, like "Vultress" and such).
  • TASM3 (or any other sequel) -- where they would've had a lot of opportunities to incorporate hallucinations/effects of Harry, Gwen, Capt. Stacy, Uncle Ben, etc. all by Mysterio, making him something more than a dork in a fishbowl -- especially by the backing of the "Towel of Babel" known as Oscorp (f'ing love that analogy).

Vulture or Scorpion for the win. :yay:

I'd be cool with Mysterio in a sequel, I guess, just not the 2017 film. I bet they'll use either Vulture or Mysterio.

Besides Vulture, I've always wanted to see Chameleon on the big screen.

Given Spidey's look, I think it'd be super neat to have Chameleon try to jeopardize what the public believes of him. I'd love to see what kind of a toll it'd take on such a young Peter Parker.

I'm also dying to see Lizard done again sometime in the future, adapted a lot better mind you (though I felt Lizard was decent in TASM; just not what I was wanting ultimately).

I wouldn't mind seeing Chameleon, but I'm not sure how I'd feel about him being the main bad guy in a movie.

At least the comment of villains we've yet to see be adapted is hopeful!

(Oh, and I bring up Chameleon because Zendaya playing Michelle so that MAY be a tease or I'm just thinking way too deep, like I tend to 99% of the time :funny:)

Chameleon wouldn't really be a good villain to start with when they're trying to establish a new Spider-Man on screen. You'd have to deal with all these fake versions of people on top of that. It would be like having the shapeshifting Skrulls as the first villains in the Avengers movie.

I think Chameleon is something that might work in a TV series as an episode, but to have that type of thing as the focus of a movie gives it a very particular slant and would establish the tone in a certain way which they might not want to go for the first movie at least.

Not-Goblin. We've had Goblin-plots be a big part of 4/5 movies to date. If you want to build up a Big Bad across a trilogy, this time use Doc Ock.

I kinda, really want Goblin to be the big bad in SM3. But if not him, i'd be more than happy with a new Ock.

I still say save the supervillains for a sequel and have him dealing with the mob in the first one. They got a few superpowered dudes in their ranks.

I don't want Mysterio as a main villain, nor Chameleon really

I'd love to see Green Goblin done right

But for the first movie, pulling for Shocker
