Who Should Play Samus in a Potential Metroid Movie?

The thing is, the only way Milla Jovovich knows how to play a "tough" female character is to come across as a total hard@$$. I do not want Samus to be a hard@$$. I want her to come across as someone who appears strong but actually has a lot of vulnerability underneath... I think that in a lot of ways, the armor she wears to protect herself should be symbolic of emotional armor that she wears to protect her emotional vulnerability.

I've been dabbling around with a Metroid fan script for quite a while, and so I had a chance to really delve into Samus's character and try to figure out who she is. In the games she doesn't really have a lot of character, but in the script I was writing, I really wanted to change that, and I hope that whoever ends up making a Metroid movie doesn't take the easy "Paul Anderson" route and just make her into an un-likeable hard@$$ who just shoots lots of stuff with a sexy scowl on her face.

A long while back when Terminator 3 had just come out, I thought Kristanna Loken could be perfect for Samus. She had the perfect look, but unfortunately, she couldn't act. She was good at playing a machine, which unfortunately does not help much when playing human characters. She's sci-fi channel fodder, and now I am completely uninterested in seeing her near a Metroid movie.

Rachael Taylor shows promise though. She as perfectly likeable in Transformers, and she seems capable enough of giving personality to her characters. Michael Bay movies aren't exactly known for their nuanced actor performances, but she still did quite well. She was able to play a strong woman who was able to have some sass without being annoying. I would definitely like to see what she could do as Samus.

Evangeline Lilly reminds me of Samus when you unlock the pics at the end of the GBA games look great if you dyed her hair but I don't think she fits Samus character, very nice cleavage.

I didn't even think of Rachael Taylor, but I admit it is a nice choice. I'm also writing a fan script, but its only a few pages in. I started it with the intention of going completely against type, and modeled the emotions of Samus after various roles Jennifer Love Hewitt has done.

i'm a Milla fan but i do think having her helm another video game series is overkill. Milla should do what Christian Bale is doing-- balancing careers between fun movies (like RE) and serious roles (like The Messenger).

Thats what she does. The Fifth Element, The Messenger, the Resident Evil movies, and Ultraviolet are her only "big" studio films out of a list of 20+ films she has done and only the Resident Evil sequels and Ultraviolet has she played uber badass chicks.

Seperating those previously mentioned films you have smaller indy films such as He Got Game, Million Dollar Hotel, The Claim, Dummy, No Good Deed, You Stupid Man, and Azazel which is a crime thriller, period film set in 1876 Moscow.

Wow...that was...wow.

First off, casted isn't a word. When are people going to realize that the word "cast" works for all tenses, past, present, and future?

Second, let me get this straight.

All those movies with all those a-list celebtrities in them, surely the director and producers could have just picked any other a-list celeb to fill out the cast and bank on name recognition alone to draw in the crowd.

But they didn't. Instead they held auditions. And along comes relatively unknown Milla Jovovich and she goes in and auditions and the director and producers cast her for the role and gets to appear with previously mentioned a-listers. How isn't that any sort of proof that directors and producers think she has talent?

On a side note, Final Fantasy is horrible. Worst overrated series in videogame history and the turn-base battle system is bar none the worst thing in videogames. That style of play should have stayed in card and board game where it belongs.
