Sure he is. He's got a crappy job but he does his best to mitigate the pain it causes. Of course, he works with a *****ebag who's happy to undo all his work now.

I'm still not entirely sure, is Stardust a dude or a chick?

I always have the Freiza voice in my head whenever I read something with Stardust. Androgyny at it's most Gozerist.

Definitely. Now I'm gonna imagine that voice whenever I read Stardust as well. I can't believe I never thought of it before.

i think cyclops should do it

it'd make a surprising choice, good first kill(first kill?)

and he'd be just bad ass about it

a good blast to the head...boom down

and he should do it while everyone is arguing about whether to kill him or not

very Wesley....

Surfer isn't really a "superhero", either.

Que? He gave up his life and love to be galactus' herald and saved his planet. How is that not heroic? Galactus gave him superpowers beyond any of his race and when he finally got his memory back he stood up to galactus again to save earth.

Hero? Check.
Super powers beyond the norm for his race? Check.
Plus he's got a surf board. Check and Mate.

Surfer also sorta condemns billions to death on a daily basis. =/

Yea if Surfer was left to his own devices, you could class him as a bonafide hero. But alas, he is not. He is just the pawn of some greedy guy who likes eating planets.

No, he doesn't. Maybe he did when he was trying to be Galactus' loyal slave back before he first came to Earth, but ever since then he's either actively opposed Galactus or he's done everything in his power to guide Galactus to uninhabited worlds or evacuate the inhabited worlds Galactus or Stardust find.

Well, yeah... but they're most likely folk you don't know or affiliate yourself with.

Next time you find yourself in a queue at the supermarket just think "you know, if it weren't for Silver Surfer... well... this line sure wouldn't be any shorter."

...unless of course all of the folk in line ahead of you have purchased the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer DVD and nothing else.

In terms of the grand cosmic scale that would be like you using bleach to clean your bathroom and mass murdering trillions of germs. He does probably the worst job possible just on the off chance he can save a few lives or maybe a few billion by finding better planets for galactus to eat.

One point of clarification though cause people seem to have a bad idea of what happened when the surfer became galactus' herald. Galactus wiped his memory, so he had no personality. You don't blame some for murder if their being mind controlled and this is the same thing. Seeing the FF brought his memories back and the moment he had them he stood up against something above most gods.

And now that he's working for Galactus again, this time with his memory intact, he's doing everything he can to save lives while helping Galactus fulfill his cosmic purpose. He tried to ward Nova away from the world Nova encountered Galactus on, he worked his ass off to try to save Sakaar, he saved trillions by talking Bill out of killing Galactus, etc. If you're not outright attacking Galactus or the Surfer himself and you're not an evil *****ebag, the Surfer will do everything in his power to save your world and, failing that, at least save you.

Still, making a bunch of people super homeless ain't all that great either. :o

No, but they're still alive and, more importantly, the universe they live in isn't immersed in chaos because their planet has helped to keep Galactus in it. They can always find a new homeworld. Looking back at Marvel's cosmic series, it seems the universe is practically teeming with civilizations zipping around looking for new homeworlds for any number of reasons. Xandar's been destroyed through no fault of Galactus' like 4 times, the Korbinites managed to lose their first home without Galactus' help, etc.

Obama didn't appoint him and doesn't like him, or so i've heard.

President-elect Barack Obama said:
"It has been compromised and is being shut down. It will be replaced with something far more superior and modern. And its goals will be to keep this planet safe from those who would attack it from inside and out. If this invasion has proved anything at all, it's that we need a certain type of man at the head of that table. We've all seen the footage, we've seen a true hero at work. We know what type of hero we need watching the skies. And that man is...Norman Osborn. All that fell under the S.H.I.E.L.D. banner, including the Avengers and the Fifty-State Initiative now falls under the Thunderbolts Initiative. And to make something perfectly clear...Stark Tech will no longer be used in any form of defense capacity or by the military. Obviously the enirety of Stark Enterprises has been compromised to the point of uselessness." - Secret Invasion #8

President Barack Obama said:
"Okay. After the invasion, it was determined that it would be...reasonable to have something in place that could be more easily controlled -- that would be more accountable. It was believed that this would have been impossible if the status quo was maintained. That was the decision of my predecessor. I agreed with that assessment. No more S.H.I.E.L.D." - Secret Warriors #1

Bush appointed Osborn, but Obama approved him.

Based on the reality that the Bush Administration provided a smooth transition for the Obama Administration, former President Bush would have not done something as drastic as disbanding S.H.I.E.L.D., setting up H.A.M.M.E.R., and appointing Norman Osborn without Obama giving the okay to go forward with it. And considering that H.A.M.M.E.R. and Norman Osborn are under the full jurisdiction of the United States government unlike S.H.I.E.L.D., Obama could have easily undid what Bush Administration did on account that H.A.M.M.E.R. was not fully ready by the time the Obama Administration took office. And for that reason, former President Bush would not have done something that drastic without President-elect Obama's approval.

While President Obama did have reservations about the amount of power that Osborn obtained and because of certain allegations about Osborn donning the Green Goblin costume in Thunderbolts Mountain killing several C.S.A. agents, most of them were put to rest in Thunderbolts #129, giving him his full approval while expressing that Osborn has a tough act to follow by succeeding S.H.I.E.L.D.

So to sum it all up, Bush paved the way for Osborn's rise to power, but Obama gave it his stamp of approval, making them both equally responsible.

Democrates and Republicans. Coming together to make the world an even more f**ked up place.

I really hope Osborn tries something against Thor again and the writer somehow works a joke about hammers into it. :thor:

Yeah, that was basically just an excuse to post that smiley again. :o

Yeah but you're using a bendis obama in those quotes. I much prefer and believe the T-Bolts version.

You know that won't stick forever. Especially since Galactus is apparently at his hungriest of all times. Didn't seem to have a problem making Galactus eat Eon or Epoch, or whatever that person is now. :o

In terms of the cosmic scale to Galactus. :o The Surfer generally enjoys the little people, and even talks with them often. XD

However, the Surfer didn't have his memory wiped. Galactus used Norrin's preexisting desire to travel the stars and more to be a herald, and the Surfer pretty much accepted. He knew what was entailed. Now, forgot what it was like to be on the recieving end of Galactus? Yah, because it was the people of Earth who reminded him of home and his love that pushed him to defy Galactus. o.o

That, be true.

Unless you're a super cosmic being. :o

He'd probably get a heaping post of what :thor: did to :im:
