With all these potential characters returning, maybe on or two new additions as well as the FC cast returning? Who should the film focus on?

There are a number of ways to tell the same story, and having the film focus on a team rather then individual or vicer versa, will certainly have an effect on the type of film we will see.

So who do you think should headline this story and why?

I was between time traveler and First Class cast

but ended with FC since I think its the right moment to give them all a perfect ballance.

Fassbender and James were the leads in FC, now its time to develop a bit more the other characters at the same time than Eric and Charles.

I think It will be combination of Time Traveler(I am betting Rogue) Xavier and Magneto
In past, and Wolverine In future(If he Isn't made time traveler)

Out of the box suggestion:

With the time-travelling storyline of the "All-New X-Men" comic (where Beast travels back in time to the 60s and brings the original five X-Men back to the present), and Nicholas Hoult no doubt needing something important to do in the second film,

Could Beast be the one who comes back in time?

mmm...... two different Beasts on the same scenes.... I dont think its a good idea, specially with anyone having a different look.

general viewers would criticize that... well, and fans too, lol

An updated future Beast look a la Astonishing X-Men would probably work well, no?

but do you think Fox and Bryan would change Kelsey's Beast look?

where would the continuity be then?

Xavier and Magneto from both timelines.

:funny:

maybe in an alternate universe. but sadly we're not on there :woot:

Beast won't be in future.Bet on It.Bryan SInger Is going to want to avoid anything
connecting to the Last Stand.

Don't understand why people think the originals should be the focus. That option doesn't make much sense coming off of FC and what was set up there. It makes even less sense when you think about TLS, XMOW, and The Wolverine. I want to see Charles building his X-Men team. I want to see Magneto leading his brotherhood. I don't want to see that much of Wolverine and Storm or who ever else is brought back.

I guess some fans dont care too much about new characters.

But thankfully many others do care, as seen since FC

I really think it all depends on the story that you would want to tell... If they use the original cast to "lead" the story, all it really means is that the story will emphasize how bad things have gotten, and give us those real big action scenes, maybe even something like Magneto taking on Sentinels and ultimately giving his life to protect what remains of the X-Men.... Meanwhile his younger self is falling deeper and deeper into villiany...

The film will find its heart in the juxtaposition, where in the past Magneto is the true evil behind what would eventually lead to his own heroic death in the future.

Even if Fassbender gets half the screen time McKellen gets, Fassbender will still have FC2 to delve into how Magneto might be feeling after DOFP, and if those events have changed him to be the better man, or if it actually made him even more bloodthirsty then before...
It's not guaranteed that McKellen would be able to do a X4....

Each option does have its advantages and disadvantages, and DOFP is the type of story that can be told very differently depending on who the focus is on, so it will be interesting to see who Singer goes with...

That is your opinion which you are entitled to but you should respect our own opinions. I would rather want to see them develop Storm as the new leader, develop Rogue into a sassy, strongwilled southerner and see all the rest of the high profile X-Men over Banshee, Havok, Angel Salvadore, riptide etc. Prof X and Magneto are the only people I'd like to see again from FC and their characters are already a part of the original trilogy cast.

It's not that we don't care about new characters, at least in my case it isn't, we just want to see interesting characters. They shouldn't just pick characters just because their powers are something we haven't seen before on screen. They should pick them because their interesting and compelling. The more interesting characters are part of the original cast and that is why I want to see them be the focus in DoFP.

In the comic although it was split up rather 50/50 between the past and the future the characters they focus on are the characters we see in the original cast i.e Wolverine, Storm, Kitty, Colossus, etc.

I get your points. I understand that many fans miss the old cast and want to see them again on bigger roles.

But since this is the FC sequel, they should have the lead. It would totally unfair to put them on a secondary side, when the original cast had three movies to shine and Wolverine his two movies. Its not fair.

If Fox wants to use the original cast in their full potential again, they should give X4 the greenlight.

I think that it should keep doing what FC did and focus on younger Erik and Charles, and to a lesser degree Mystique and Beast.

I agree that the rest of the characters in FC weren't anywhere near as interesting, but apart from Wolverine, Magneto and Professor X I couldn't say I found many characters in the original trilogy all that interesting either. Which is not necessarily a terrible flaw; not all characters can be fleshed out in a big ensemble and most characters still end up adding something into the mix. I just don't want a super-bloated cast where basically everyone is a supporting character and nobody gets much development.

any character can be interesting if the writer gives him a solid arc.

The great directors and writers know this.

And this is one of the big reasons the x-men movies didnt get all the praise all these other franchises since the 00's have gotten.

Look at Star Trek films. The focus on them have been Kirk,Spock and lesser degree Mccoy In 6 original films.Picard and Data In NG,and Kirk and Spock In Altertate Timeline.Even the Avengers I saw as mostly focused on Tony Stark and Captain America

Days of future past will focus on Xavier and Magneto In 1960's and Wolverine In future. If Rogue(or less likely Kitty) Is time traveler then that would make her a focal character.
If they would go with Xavier switching minds between patrick stewert and James Mcavoy versions then future Xavier would be a focal character in future scenes.

I would think whoever carries information from the future to the past should be the focus. Be it Prof X, Kitty, Wolverine, Cable, Bishop or whatever they decide to go with.

Well in a large ensemble it's a tad unrealistic for every character to get their own solid arc. Unless you're talking about something like LoTR, with 3 x 3 hour movies.

Plus I do not think that it all depends on an arc, especially for the supporting characters. Sometimes the presence and sense of personality that an actor brings to the part can be enough to make them memorable.

I love the old cast so I vote them. I honestly find the new cast a little bland even though it contains many great actors (I mean, they even even found a way to make Rose Byrne bland and boring)
