This weekend (between Saturday, November 9 and Monday, November 11) Future Shop and Best Buy locations across Canada will be giving out free copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Battlefield 4 to anyone who trades in a current generation console game.

You read that right: Free. Zip. Zero.

This isn’t a joke. We don’t normally write about retail promotions here on Post Arcade, but this is one we felt honour bound to tell our readers about.

Here’s how it works. On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, simply take in a used game for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or the Wii U (Wii games aren’t eligible for the promotion) and you can walk out with one of those three titles without spending another dime. This offer is only for the standard $59.99 versions of the games, so no special editions.

The game you take home can be for any of the current generation system. So, for example, you could bring an Xbox 360 game from four years ago and walk out with a PlayStation 3 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Bring in a copy of the first Assassin’s Creed for the Xbox 360, you can take home Assassin’s Creed IV . Bring in a copy of NHL 10 for the PlayStation 3, walk out with Call of Duty: Ghosts.

As you might expect, the offer isn’t valid on next generation games, so you can’t trade in Assassin’s Creed II and walk out with one of the games for the Xbox One or PlayStation 4.

This promotion is one of the best I have seen. Here is how it works. Bring a copy of ANY used Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or the Wii U game (one that works and has the original jewel case) and you can trade it in for a current generation (Xbox360, PS3 or WiiU) version of: Assassin’s Creed IV, Call of Duty: Ghosts or Battlefield 4.

That is it. No catch.

How awesome is that?

Now, a couple of small things to note: There’s a limit of one free game per customer, per day. also, there are a few stores that are not participating: Nanaimo, Kelowna, Vaughan, St. James, Garden City, Pembina and Richmond Hill.

I'll probably go for Battlefield 4. Don't care much for COD and I wasn't too fond of the sailing missions in AC4 (which apparently compose 40% of this game).

Damnit... I wish FS's were in the States. I've never seen a deal like that... Best thing GameStop is offering is they'll give you 90% credit on your PS3 if you trade it towards your PS4.

Apparently people have been using the online reservation tool to reserve copies for tomorrow. So much so that Future Shop had to turn it off. Couple that with the fact that this deal has been publicized on things like Red Flag Deals, and it's pretty clear that you'd best be at the store when it opens if you want one of these games. Some people have called their local stores, and most seem to only have a stock of around 10 games per console. They are going to go fast.

I said **** it, Im not gonna wait for a game, even if it's free


Oh and Some piece of **** hoarded 26 games. Wow
