Who Watches the Critics? The Critic Response Thread

Here's his blog about it from today:
We're all puppets, Laurie. I'm just
a puppet who can see the strings

By
Roger Ebert

Ive read his both revies about the movie, and he does great analyses about the movie and the story. He watches the movie and think about what its happening.

Its sad to read some other reviews where reviewers simply doesnt get the story, or just be blow away because of some visual effect... superficial analyses... Its not easy to make reviews, not everyone is able to do it.

Screw everybody else... Roger Ebert gets the final word on any movie...
If he likes it... then it MUST be good regardless of what New Yorkers say...

Also, it's March 6th... I won't be able to see it until the 20th (India release date)...
So how was it?

Unfortunately, I missed the midnite showing. I was in the studio recording a song that COULD NOT wait, and ended up not getting out until after 1 am...

So...that means Watchmen is getting MORE of my money, and I havent even seen it yet!

Im not a blind fan...if its terrible, I'll admit it.

I couldn't be happier after reading Ebert's review. A professional, respected movie critic, who never read the book, loved the Watchmen movie, and really, really understood it. The important things about Watchmen that I took away after reading the book, Ebert was able to take from the movie.

People bash or praise Ebert when it suits them, man. They can go from hating the man to loving him in a heartbeat. So is the path of the fanboy. :o

''This despicable trash will find an audience among sad sociopaths, deranged pseudo-intellectuals and brutalised, immature men of all ages. I just hope that there aren't enough of them to make it a hit. If there are, God help cinema''

If i could roll my eyes more, they would fall out of my head.

The film sucked but this guy is an idiot that lacks comprehension skills, "And it's one too many movies - after X Men, The Dark Knight and Push - set in a world where crime-fighting superheroes have been outlawed." You just have to read that to know he doesn’t know WTF his talking about.

I think people are getting excited over Ebert's review mostly because they just know his name. Had he given the movie one star people would say he just doesn't get it.

Hilarious and clueless review from Debbie Schlussel tons of spoilers so beware

:lmao::applaudI love these whack reviews!

ebert likes it, so he's a top class critic.

the negative reviews are written by idiotic hack's who don't "get" it, and are wrong to expect a film to stand on it's own without requiring a reading of the graphic novel.

nonsense.

i hope this film is good, i really do,but some people are truly ridiculous. Should we expect to have to read the novel of any book-based film before viewing it? that's just stupid. If it doesn't make sense on its own right, it's a failure as a film.

i really hope it's not.

Has anyone read the comments on that moron Debbie Schlussel's site? It's like AICN, but with women!!

shes hott but is ******ed and ignorant, BUT SUPERHEROZ R FOR KIDZZ!!1!

For people in the US, the Daily Mail is a really right wing newspaper that try to scare people into thinking their way. They're kind of like Fox News.

Mark Kermonde gave it a bad review today, it's not up on the web yet though. He basically says that Synder isn't good a depth and the depth of the book is missing. [He read and loved it] He thought it was over long and the violence wasn't done right. Not that it was too violent but certain scenes like the rape one was too over the top for a rape scene.

He did say that he was glad they hied somebody who respected the sorce material as much but says that hindered the movie as well because Synder was too in love to change it for film. He then agreed with Moore that it is probably unfilmable.

How has it been marketed toward kids?

Wouldn't you think that that was a parenting issue that has nothing to do with the movie, which is widely known to be Rated R and not a kid friendly movie in the first place?

Exactly. If your a parent and fail to see the big R rating on the posters and advertisements and you take your kids and they freak out, sorry tough ****.

whats up with that guy he looks like richard simmons and bob ross' love child.
