That article does make it seem like Woodley might be back, but we'll see. Let's be honest, MJ's role in TASM2 only needed to be this:
Gwen: "Hey Peter, meet my friend Mary Jane."
Peter: "Hey Mary Jane, nice to meet you."
MJ: "Call me MJ"
In other words, MJ's character should have been nothing more than secondary to Gwen at this point and that would not have taken anything away from anything. Still seems like there is more to this whole change...
Oh, in reading that story, the main quote I took away from it was:
There is no jealousy, this is definitely a creative decision and Emma was also told that she would have her character get the proper send off and probably would appear in flashbacks and nightmares in the third film. When you are a huge star like Emma you get things thrown to you even if you dont ask or demand them.
"Appear in flashbacks and nightmares in the third film."
Hmmmmmmmmmmm...
Wouldn't that mean that:
Gwen will die in the second film?
How can you be back in flashback and nightmares in #3 if you didn't die yet? Ok, maybe she could die at the beginning of 3 and then be in nightmares later in 3, but come on... I think this "insider" just substantiated what I've been arguing. Gwen is going to die at the end of #2.
Just imagine #2 ending with Peter cradling Gwen's lifeless body, tears streaming down his checks, screaming for revenge.
Then imagine #3 starting with the same scene, with Gwen plummeting to her death and Peter waking up from this obviously reocurring nightmare.
This makes a lot of sense. #3 will be about Peter trying to figure out who the Goblin is and dealing with other threats, likely caused by GG. I could easily see GG hiring the Black Cat to steal something of importance. The whole daddy thing would start to resolve. And GG could form a group of Spidey villains to unite against him.
This leads to #4 where the S6 battles spidey.
But the main thing is that the above quote sure seems to support Gwen being killed. Especially when coupled with the other evidence...
