I think I came up with a perfect choice...

I was watching Pitch Perfect over the weekend and one of the characters was this absolutely gorgeous girl. She was exceptionally tall, curvy, busty, and well, just plain hot.

In Pitch Perfect her character's name was Stacy.

The actresses name is:

Alexis Knapp

There is even a couple of great shots of her from openings from Project X where she is sporting reddish hair.

I haven't seen Project X yet, but what I saw of her in Pitch Perfect sold me that she would be a perfect MJ. And as a bonus, you should see her flexibility. Her splits and dance moves defy logic!

Any chance someone could grab the shot of her with reddish hair from the Project X opening and post it?

Never seen her in anything but she somewhat looks the part.

I doubt her acting chops though.

If they're going with a lesser known actress, I like Alexis Knapp in the role. Now it could be due to my undying love for Pitch Perfect, but she's got the look, the small bit parts I've seen of her she was as good as can be, and honestly, I still don't find MJ to be such a hard character to play where we need an award winning actress in the role. It'd honestly be a good debut role for any up and coming actresses.

Knapp is good looking but I don't think she fits the role of MJ; at least talent wise.

I have always and still do think that Shailene is perfect for the role.

I've been a Woodley supporter, and I agree she's probably a better actress at the moment considering Knapp has had little to do thus far. But I don't see Knapp as some untalented eye candy.

I'm not saying Knapp is untalented. I just don't think she fits into the role of MJ outside of her looks.

More I look into this, the more I disagree with you...

Here is a list of personality traits that people use when describing MJ:

clever (not intellectually, but in thinking outside the box)

In many ways, from what I have seen so far, Alexis Knapp has these traits. In reading about her I was very impressed with how she wants roles that are more than just "the hot girl". And the role of MJ would be so much more than just the "hot girl".

Alexis has been a model, just like MJ...

In Project X she played a popular high school girl, who went beyond the hot chick archtype. Again, isn't that MJ?...

She was in Vamp U, which I am sure was not a major role, but was another supporting one for a good up and coming...

Next she'll be in Cavemen. We'll have to see what this one turns out to be (can't find much online).

After that will be Super Fun Night, again with Rebel Wilson.

I think the main point is that she is an up and coming actress who has the look for the roll of MJ.

I think you're being a little short sighted. Most actors chosen for a role of this nature need two things...

Yes, they need the ability to act the part and give the personality and presence of the character.

But second, they most definitely need to have the ability to look the part.

In my personal opinion, Shailene had the first criteria down, but not the second.

Now I'm not saying that the look alone will do it, but the look is still very important. I believe that Alexis Knapp has the look, so posting a full body shot, showing her height, her proportions, etc.; in order to get some who might be interested in this discussion to see her ability to look the part of MJ is not in any way sexist. And yes, once some might agree that she looks the part, which could get buy-in, the next step would be to review some of her acting to see if she could act the part.

From what I've seen she 100% has the look, and I'm feeling at this time at least 75% on her ability to act the part...

So, any chance someone could post an Alexis Knapp full body shot (with red hair please)?

I thought I just went through this whole thing of how the ability to play a character as iconic as MJ takes two things...

Yes, it takes the looks (and sorry, I don't believe Woodley has it)

AND

it takes the acting ability.

So you are not correct when you say that "that's all 'I' need to decide".

But it is a good starting point...

You could have the best actress in the world, but if she doesn't look the part then forgetaboutit.

So start with a handful of actresses that have the look, review their acting, and get it down to the small handful that could do it. I think Knapp is one of the few (Picture anybody?).

They haven't said she would return and they haven't said she won't return, infact no one has confirmed MJ will be in TASM3 at all so why would they let slip and confirm her role in TASM3

Only reports have suggested MJ will have a bigger role next film, nothing will be said about TASM3 so them not confirming her coming back means nothing

The problem with casting MJ is that we all have different tastes as to what is attractive. Personally I hated Dunst as MJ, but I know some people think she is gorgeous. Also when people mention an actress they tend to put the best phoho of them up while putting the worst one up of the person they dislike.

IMO I prefer a more woman MJ but the age group of the characters in the movie lean towards a early twenty something.

Example - I think Nadia Bjorlin is smoking hot but prob too old for the role.
Example 2 - A younger (post Saved by the Bell) Tiffani Thiesen would have been perfect lookswise IMO.

But anyway I'll throw Ashley Greene out there. I think she is rather lovely and can pull of many different looks so why not a red head?
