While on the Scott Pilgrim train...

How about Aubrey Plaza? Does MJ have to be super pale skinned?

No thanks to Ashley Greene; keep her away.
With Shannon Woodward, I can kind of see it, she's a bit similar to Shailene Woodley for me.
I love Brie Larson, but I would hope she'd get back into shape like in Scott Pilgrim instead of how she looked in 21 Jump Street.
And I love Aubrey Plaza, but she's way too monotone of an actress in voice and emotions.

I totally agree, Shannon Woodward is so close to Woodley.

Brie Larson is adorable, and might have made a great Gwen (and them Emma could have been MJ), but not so sure she would be a good MJ.

I can't see Aubrey Plaza. Just don't think she has the look.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead would do really well as MJ (I believe many others have stated that.

I would really love to see side-by-side shots of Woodley, Knapp, Winstead and any other front runners. Anyone care to make that happen?

I still see Shailene as MJ.

There's some nice suggestions here but I really have a feeling she could do a good job.

We shall see what happens though.

I just want a teaser, I couldn't care less about who they cast as MJ at this point. Isn't it confirmed she won't be in TASM 2 anyways?

Why is it so much about looks for you guys

because i need to think for two of me, my brain can tell me one thing but in most cases other one down there decide it. :o and in most cases he is right, specially when i am paying her *cough* ticket. :oldrazz:

Yep, asking who do you want to play Mary Jane is basically another way of saying 'What young actress do you think is smoking hot in hollywood?' But it is doing it in a veiled way.

Mary Jane in the comics was always very fun, impulsive, playful, optimistic and independent, I don't think any actress playing the part needs to portray a deep psychosis, or even someone who has a strategic/ intellectual/ interesting/ unusual mind which would be bait for award season. All she has to do is portray an upbeat, strong, fun character. I don't think she needs a gazillion awards and even more award nominations.

That said, I think it would have been better if they went with Meryl Streep instead of Shailene Woodley. I mean both of them are extremely sexy women, but Meryl just has that edge in terms of awards nominations and wins. ;)

I submit molly quinn, from the Castle TV show, she plays Alexis

So I hate the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon as much as the next guy... But i heard a great line on it today "Note to all supervillains, MJ is not the best choice in hostages." (as she's kicking paste pot pete in the groin.)

I think they should have a line like that in the ASM series.

That's a surprisingly funny line :D

I don't hate Ultimate Spider-Man for doing something new with the source material, I don't even hate it for being kid friendly, but it's just that they don't know how to make Peter likable and the jokes just aren't funny. The timing and placement of the jokes are one of the biggest problems in Ultimate Spider-Man. A couple times I noticed that some of the jokes could've made me chuckle if they had downplayed it AKA not make it a cutaway gag

one last thing: the premise of the show that got the ball rolling was that Nick Fury wanted to recruit Spidey because he wanted to teach him about responsibility. Spider-Man isn't an irresponsible character so this doesn't make sense. What it should've been Nick Fury asks Spider-Man to lead this team of teenaged heroes since Spidey is all about responsibility and the team could learn from him. Also, in return Fury also trains Spider-Man so he can become a full fledged pro and that he wont cause as much property damage. And Spider-Man (again being all about responsibility) accepts the request because he too wants to be as good of a hero as he can

I agree that the jokes are 99% unfunny. Even the one I mentioned wasn't perfect. The timing was still off and it couldve even been written better.

But I agree. It's barely watchable though. I just throw it on when I'm eating food. :P

Someone said Shannon Woodward, this guy wins the thread.

Or, at least, he wins picking up cute girls. She's so beautiful :hrt:

[BLACKOUT]I don't see her as MJ, though I think she could pull of a perfect Betty Brant[/BLACKOUT]
