I know the majority of members here will be watching the midnight showing and all weekend. I can't believe some of you guys bought tickets in advance. Don't you have to pay extra for buying it online? I think I'll watch it Monday. The theaters will be WAY too hectic during the weekend, especially the IMAX theaters. So I'll watch it as a matinee on IMAX Monday afternoon. Should be less people.

Well for me, and a lot of other people, the crowds are one of the main reasons why we want to see things opening day. The energy and hype in a theater on opening day is something that can never be matched, I saw star wars episode one opening day, that was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Imagine 2000 star wars fans jammed into one room watching what was essentially one of the most hyped movies of all time, the cheering every time something awesome happened, the thunderous laughing every time something even kinda funny happened, it makes more a movie going experience that is second to none.

You know, I've had too many annoying experiences on opening weekend with stupid crowds, so one would think I would WANT to wait a few days. However, Warner and everyone else associated with this movie pretty much has me by the balls now and I need to see it as soon as possible, so it'll either be the midnight showing or the lunchtime showing on July 18th.

Surprisingly the crowd at Iron Man was good, before and during the movie.

I'm gonna wait until the third week in August. Less crowd.

oh yeah! lets all wait until the movie is in the $2.50 theaters, sure theyre small and don't have any ac....but at least theres no crowds!:hehe:

This question is like walking into a cancer ward and asking, "who wants life to last a little longer?"

I personally can't. I won't be paid until a few days after it comes out here, plus I am in Europe and we get it about a week later than the true opening weekend

My friends are I were considering having a bet where everyone throws in $5 and the person who could wait til TDK comes out on DVD to see it wins all the cash. But we all agreed there's no way in hell we would do that.

i think even jesus will take sunday off to watch it. haha

You actually want idiots jumping up and down clapping and yelling out during the movie? Wow, I have never come across anyone who likes that.

And yes, it is second to none. In the category of crap. :woot:

I'm going to opening night, but I haven't had the issues of idiots cheering and clapping, if it happens I think I will walk out and demand my money back and watch a later screening. When I pay $15 to see a movie, especially one that has so much hype around it for me and everyone else, I don't want some ******ed idiot next to me clapping as if his mother was into bestiality and he is part seal, it kind of ruins anything that is intense during the movie.

I think audience participation can be a great thing if the people watching are real fans and are really with the movie. If it's just a bunch of chavs who don't care about the movie and are just disruptive then no. But seeing it with hardcore fans who just want to enjoy the movie as much as you it's great. Imagine being in a comedy with nobody laughing - it'd suck. Don't worry - if they're proper fans they'll **** when it comes to the important parts.

Audience participation is horrible! But laughing during a comedy and funny parts and gasping through an intense moment or something that would make you jump is completely different then clapping and cheering and yelling everytime Batman kicks somebody.

Yup. I haven't watched a movie with that experience, but for the trailer screening in one of the recent Joker games, everyone cheered and whooped at the beginning and at the end. Right when the aerial shot started, everyone shut up and you could hear a pin drop. :funny:

That was a lot of fun, everyone being at a crazy excitement level. Although yeah, if the cheering gets too crazy, missing some dialogue is very likely.

But I definitely would want to be at a really late night showing - I'm still deciding between midnight and 3:15am. I figure the truly hardcore people would go for 3:15. :oldrazz:

Seeing it Friday in regular theater and then Saturday in IMAX.

what true batman fan is not going to go see tdk opening night or opening weekend.

that's funny. that's my plan too.

i'll see it in Orange County on Friday (maybe at the Arclight), and maybe at the Bridge on Saturday.

Okay, the self-control is coming in now. Everyone seems giddy over the new TV spot (see: spot 6) just like they were last week with the "My Hero" video, both of which I am choosing not to watch. No new footage from here on out for me... which is what I said in May too haha.

Oh and my worst theatre experience was during Spiderman 3 when people just kept yelling out "HAHA SPIDERMAN'S EMO!" and stupid crap like that. When I went to see the prologue and trailer 2 for TDK people were pumped, then the second the reel started... silence. And then a huge applause. That's more or less what I want for July 18th.

really, who doesn't want to see this opening weekend? pick a small theater or a mantinee if you don't want to be with big crowds.
