Ok, so seeing Mad Thinker and The Leader in the Avengers cartoon recently has got me thinking - just who is the most intelligent super villain in the Marvel Unvierse if it came to a head to head?

Obviously, Doom's in the mix as well.

Any suggestions?

As far as number crunching. It's The Mad Thinker.

As far as raw potential. It's The Leader.

As far as creativity and application. It's Doom.

That's as close as I'll come to picking a "most intelligent". :D

:doom: :doom: :doom:

Doom.

But I do want to give the Wizard a nod.

Thanos

Don't see any earthbound villain qualifier...

What got me thinking was the 'Gamma World' episode (i think) of Worlds Mightiest Heroes.

The shorthand description of the Leader was that he was in intellect what the Hulk is to strength as a result of gamma radiation. Now as the Hulk gets stronger the madder he gets, what's the deal with the Leader? Does his intellect just keep growing and growing exponentially until one day he surpasses everyone on the planet? I dunno, I guess I've never really thought of it that way before.

Doom has it for being an 'all-rounder' but intellect is the Leaders whole schtik; it's his one, dedicated speciality. Plus, one could argue that while Doom is the most intelligent human supervillain, the Leader has a super-powered intellect and so must be smarter by definition.

It's certainly an interesting subject [and obviously one thats not going to be resolved on here short of Marvel actually coming out and saying who's the smartest!) but interesting nonetheless.

Imagine if all these guys teamed up against the smartest heroes - would they be able to cope/

The Leader is boasting. All that accident did was get him in Reed Richards' ballpark. The Leader is an accountant. Reed and Doom are artists.

The difference between the Leader and Doom is like math and music. The Leader is trapped in algorithms that ultimately must all end the same way. Doom bends the notes to his will and usually knows how the symphony must end. His salvaging a victory out of defeat.

The Leader can't outwit a moron like the Hulk. Doom enslaves the Hulk every time they meet. Why? Cause The Leader is limited by science. Doom enhances science.

Just some of my thoughts. :D

:ff: :ff: :ff:

M.O.D.O.K is probably up their as one of the smartest

Definitely Dr. Doom. I consider him pretty much the smartest person in the Marvel universe with one crippling character flaw that makes him effectively beat himself all the time.

He's still not smarter than Reed. He just finishes faster because he doesn't mind killing babies to get his Energy X.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

I think he's potentially smarter than Reed. He's just too arrogant to acknowledge and learn from his mistakes.

First big thing Doom did was **** up. But then again so did Reed. Maybe this is the reason Hank Pym is the Scientist Supreme.

But then again Ultron is hardly a positive accomplishment.

They all f*** up pretty often, to be honest. Price of ambition, as Hank mentioned in Avengers Academy last week when the Absorbing Man (lulz, irony) called him a stupid loser.

On Earth it would be Doom definitely. After that I'd say The Leader and then Doc Ock, he's pretty brilliant himself. Galactus and Thanos are out there lurking in space and could easily give Doom a run for his money.

Lex Luthor would brain-f**k all of the above if this wasn't just a Marvel discussion.

Doom and Reed have shown that they're on par with some of the cosmic abstracts, though. I mean, Reed's outsmarted Galactus what, like, twenty times now?

Yeah but he's a hero so he doesn't count as far as this convo goes.

Dr. Doom is by far the smartest supervillain in the MU. He's part of the Top 8 most intelligent men in the Marvel Universe. No other supervillain is there.

I'd say Dr Doom is the smartest villian in the MU. He's pretty skilled in the sciences and in magic. I'd like to see Lex Luthor try to get into a magic duel with Dr Fate and actually stand a chance like Doom can do with Strange.

In fairness, Doom doesn't stand much of a chance against Strange unless he's cheating.
