Yeah, the most she had really were the couple of deleted scenes or whatever. Oh and her name was called out by Storm in X2, haha.

Oh and yes sorry I'll throw in something to keep us on topic:

ms.vix what you wrote about cliched lines, yeah no kidding. the writing was definitely lacking...I'm reminded of what should have been a meaningful exchange between Bobby and Pyro:
"You should have stayed at (was it at? in?) school."
"You never shoulda left."

Now come on, this is the "highly anticipated" confrontation between the wondertwin powers (sorry that just came out). It was like, "I'm gonna kick your ass." "Yeah, well it's YOU who should prepare for the ass kicking." There, I can write a scene too. :P

I think the reason I hate that confrontation is because it was too much like Sue Storm and Dr. Doom.
DD: "Sue, let's not fight."
IW: "No; Let's." grunts.

Oh yeah, that's another great one, lol. Haha, yes, the grunt.

*claps* hurray for solid writing.

Who wrote for X3? X2?

X3-Idiots

X2-The creative team of Bryan Singer. He took just about all of them to Superman Returns.

Oh boo. And I still haven't seen SR, I'm excited tho.

Writing, bad directing. There were scenes that could have been potentially interesting had they been done differently. Bad bad bad. Angel "joins the XMen"...by join you mean have an angsty scene with the pops and then come around and save him in the end. Booo. I'm sure they could have delved more into this conflict, the conflict between whether or not taking the cure is the right thing for him I mean, screw his dad. It was pretty much Rogue and Angel who had that conflict, I think. Woulda been interesting to see that developed further.

to be fair, pyro and iceman did have one line in the novel I laughed at:

I think it went like this:

(Bobby is searching for Rogue at the clinic)

Pyro: Looking for your girlfriend? She's pathetic, man.

Iceman: F**k you.

END.

Now, see--that's how a normal teenage boy would respond! Young boys, I think, act out more aggressively than adult men do. the battle between Iceman and Pyro should have been more... vicious, with a dialogue that would be realistic and less lame.

The writers of X-3 made a script that I can compare to a story I wrote when I was 9; full of melodrama, over used cliche's, and an ending that is meant to bring a tear to your eye. (pathetic, but very good for a 9 year old author:) )

*really like the term "wondertwin powers" btw*

what the heck was up with that angel scene saving his dad? what WERE they thinking???

"Dur, well, uh... what can we do with Foster at the end?"

"Gee... I forgot we had him!!"

"Yeah, me too..."

"Say, lets bring him in at the last battle"

"How? there's no way to fit him in... Kitty has Juggernaut, Iceman has Pyro, Storm has Callisto, and Wolverine has everyone else..."

"True...hmm..."

"HEY! I got it! Lets let him dive in at the LAST second to save his father from falling off a building! It'll be a great twist!"

"PERFECT!!!"

Thus, Angel was able to get another 2 second scene in the film... Screen Hogger Foster!!!

It's true. I just saw Superman Returns tonight. You can see that the magic went along with the crew. Superman Returns got the magic and heartfelt moments, X3 got the Juggernaut, *****!

Yeah pretty much. I mean there's about a dozen scene rewrites and fanfics that do a better job just by changing a couple of lines around! And I agree about the ending. Yes it's designed to put a tear in your eye, but for a very wrong reason.

"But what should we do with him afterwards?"

"Nothing, just let him disappear"

"But won't the audience notice?"

"Nah, it worked with NightCrawler"

that battle can be summed up like this:

"Did not!" [throws fireball]

"Did too!" [throws ice ball]

"Am not!" [throws fireball]

"Are too!" [throws snowball]

And so on... Jean must have been amused by all this. No wonder she stood there and watched with interest for a good 20 minutes. :)

^ ahahaha! so true. And that scene with Bobby and Pyro at the clinic, cheers. Yeah I totally forgot about that one. Dirrreeeccctttinngggg...well slash writing too. I know Wolverine had a bunch of corny lines too but I can't remember at the moment beyond "take a stand" or something. No wait, maybe that was Storm? Ack I dunno.

Colossus has....? Some random bad guys? Yeah, yeah, we'll say that.

OH YEAH bad writing:
The end scene with Jean, I'm just making this up cuz I can't quite remember exactly what they said:

blah blah I'm doing this for you, I love you even though from X2 to X3 we've gone a hop, a skip, and jump into these intense, to-die-for feelings. Let's do it biatch!

Oh, and wondertwin powers...I think that was a tv show maybe? All i remember is the reference to it on Family Guy, lol.

ntcrawler, right on. Oh and I'm GOING to post on the rewrite thread, I'm in a creative jam right now lol.

Oh Excellent! I have about 4 things I'm working on to post as well, plus a photo manip. drop me a line, we should compare notes and tos some ideas around!

You know, what it comes down to is that pretty much EVERY scene that's meant to be slow, relaxed, touching, with a meaningful exchange is rushed like the editing machine was on fast forward. Like there was a bet going on about how Ratner couldn't possibly make this movie shorter than 107 minutes and he proved them all wrong. For goodness Sake Bobby and Kitty have more time to enjoy their moment together and say something to each other than Scott and Jean! I'm surprised their little ice skating wasn't interrupted by an enemy attack or a cut straight to the fighting at Alcatraz

long live family guy!! I vote the writers of Family Guy to re-write X-3, at least they would've intended for us to laugh:)

BTW, Cyclops would SO not have let that happened to HIS Jeannie!

Wolverine is such a drama queen, taking the most drastic route to solve Jeannie's problem.

(sorry, I really DO like wolverine, but now that I'm in my bitter/resenting mood, poor wolvie is feeling the brunt of it:O :) :( )

VERY good NTcrawler! If they were going to add a crap load of characters to the movie, WHY not one that was ALREADY established in X2??? Nightcrawler was POPULAR and LOVED, and worth every min. of a story arc!

sigh... i need a drink... I'm twenty-one now! :D

Woohoo! Kiddie fight! I laughed so hard I almost fell off my chair, the image was PERFECT!

Yes exactly. Cyclops would NOT let something like this happen to Jeannie. That's why as far as Wolverine's concerned, he was conviently written out of the script to give him an opening. Otherwise it'd be something like this:

Phoenix: "You would die for them?"
Logan: "No not for them, for you"
Phoenix: "Please... save me"
Logan: "I Love you *[snikt]"
[from behind] Cyclops: "I thought I told you to stay away from my girl!"
Phoenix: "Scott? SCOTT! But... how?"
Cyclops: "Dunno"
Logan: "Cyclops! I was about to-"
Cyclops: "KILL her? I thought she said she wanted to be saved. Do you always think with your claws?"
Phoenix: "Scott! I thought you were dead, I thought I killed you"
Cyclops: "I can rise from the dead too."

You get the idea :)

Yes, there was no explanation for why Night Crawler wasnt' there. But then again there was no explanation for why Jean after being "dead" for 8 months didn't have a grave or a memorial either. I suppose no one mourns the lesser chars when they die. After all, look at how they all forgot about Cyclops so quickly.

Again, this is truly excellent writing. Happy Birthday, Ms Vix!

for sure ntcrawler, i'll pm you sometime soon. I've got the angsty drama confrontation scenes in the works.

I agree, rushed rushed rushed. I think I mentioned this before, but there was only one real battle scene (the "final" battle i mean)? I expected more altercations between ...uh...anyone really. Like there was all this hype towards this final confrontation...but it just fizzled and then once again, true enough, they just zipped through the whole thing. Ack.

Whoa, I think we were posting at the same time for a bit there, I'm always one behind you in replying lol.

on the 5th, and thank you:) , i only got one other person to wish me happy birthday!:( :)

Please... don't get me started on Cyclops. I did cry! I'm not even a big fan, i've always liked wolverine better. but this---this was just WRONG!!!

I'm rewriting X-3, and this time--Wolverine goes to Alkali Lake FIRST :D

:D np! Good that you're legal now eh...ew I sound like a creepy old man now lol (btw I'm 20, so discount that :P).

No seriously, I was like...uh...Cykes didn't even get a death SCENE, technically.

I also cried about Jean and Scott. in fact it took me weeks before I could look at the Alkali lake scene again. Until then it made me shiver and wretch. Her death was a tragedy. Not because of the Phoenix, not because she was a martyr, but because of the totally incompetent effort made by the rest of the cast to save her.

Yes, you summed it up nicely. It was just WRONG! That's why it's up to us to fix it :)

I'm rewriting X3 too, including throwing in some much needed flashbacks as well as starting out things for X4. And in my version, the ENTIRE team, makes a TEAM effort to reach up and save Jean. Like, they actually care about her this time :D

Yes, team effort. Logan vs. predator. Hahah sorry random thoughts, it's quite late here.

Which is a good thing, BTW. What creeped me out is that I swear watching the movie I had no idea what happened to him, and I couldn't believe everyone assumed that he was dead. Not only that but they forced that info into Jean's head (which only served to set her off), and felt that that's what really happened, patting themselves on the back for their masterful sleuthing.

You get the feeling the team wanted to sweep Cyclops under the rug. Not that it had much impact on the Xavier institute. Rogue was more concerned about being able to have sex, and Kitty was more upset about not seeing the first snow of the season than the apparent loss of yet another member of the family.
