The blame on the writers then Ratner then fox

a little ot - but your sig -
why did Jack ask to get Will back after sending him in the first place? Then the "but he is in love" bit - what was that good for?

Anyhow, the blame is mainly on fox - if they just signed Singer when they should, then none of this would happen.

Before they went to find the Flying Dutchman...they went to see Tia Dolma she told them about Davy Jones why he cut out his Heart....Because of love the pain of it....jack sent will because he was the only one in love with a girl and may be able to convince Davy Jones to give him back but it didn't work(anybody else he would send would be bound to stay with the Flying dutchman..so Will was a good choice).....Jack use to Wiggle his way through situation with clever statements like in the first movie but Davy Jones doesn't buy into any tricks jack his up his sleeves....Thats why I like Davy Jones..I think he's great and his introduction is my favorite part of the movie

Mmmmmm... I didn't like potc2 and that scene was the heart of my problem with it. I must say what you wrote makes sense, but they should have made it more clear - to me it was just a step back after the "he is a pirate but also a good man" in potc1.

I liked but I only go watch to See Davy Jones....They were some unnecceasy humor and Tribe part I didn't like that much, the triple sword was lackluster but some parts were good though but Its only Davy Jones scenes......

The tribe part led to nothing! What was it good for? (we had enough of that in King Kong...) the triple sword was just as pointless - we know no one can get hurt so there's no tension, and it wasn't half as fun as the Will vs. Jack in the first film, and is was really (really) long. I guess that my main problem was that no matter what the charecters did - it led them no where and the movie was running in circles around his tail.

Ahem, back on topic - did I mention Fox's to blame? :p

yeah maybe Part 3 will fill the void in this movie...any way its fox, the writers then Ratner

i a gree mostly but i put almost no blame on ratner, he moved a sceen or two around he didnt change the script that was already written and that was dictated by fox.

but as an what if story i really enjoyed the (what if scott dies and wolverie saves jean by gutting her) story i saw it twice and enjoyed it both times because i didnt look at it as the pheonix sage i had hoped to see but knew i never would. no matter who the director was, i also believe the studio never wanted singer to direct any of the x movies since he couldnt get a decent budget that alone said that fox had no faith in him or didnt like him so fox gets 99 percent of the blame the writers .8 and rat .2

that would be good for Tv show but when you bring to the big screen....its the only time you gonna get to do this why misinterpret it?....You can intrepret things to make appealing in different ways but don't flip the script...I've seen things intrepreted from comics to the big screen...its just bad writting and bad directing when you can't do it

read some of my other posts your right but fox has the hands in everything so deep the writers cant breath mush less be creative

I was wondering at what point did people realize the pacing was very fast?

EDIT: maybe ill make a topic on this.

To me it started out with Alkali Lake, when the scene went from a tender kiss, to just bre briefest hint of "something's wrong" to the sudden cut to Xavier screaming. Most other scenes afterwards supported that. The quick rescue at Alkali Lake, Magneto's rushed attempts to recruit people, Magneto's quick disposal of Mystique, it just went on and on from that point. The only time I felt things slow down was Bobby and Kitty ice skating.

Funny how Fox drew all of the fire, but they are the only one whose side we didn't (and never) hear.

Who to blame:

FOX, for sticking their fingers into places where management should not go, (especially for telling Penn and Kinberg what to write, deciding which chars die, etc)

Penn and Kinberg, for 1) not being able to write, 2) blindly writing down everything management told them to do, 3) lying about everything, 4) not having a clue about basic X-men storylines but claiming that they did

Ratner, for 1) his pompous I'm-better-than-you attitude, 2) taking on this project for the sole reason of being the person to make an X-Men film so he can add it to his resume, 3) his crazy, fast-paced directing style that does not allow scenes to breathe, 4) for getting too crazy with the cutting machine and cutting out too much. 5) claiming Penn and Kinberg are the world's biggest X-men fans

Fox takes the most blame. Then the writers, but then again you can't criticize bad talent -- bad talent is what it is. So primary blame rests with Fox, who also hired the crummy writers in the first place.

And Ratner.

Well, this took some digging?

After watching it again, it was obvious that the writers tried to cram too much story in, and Fox was way too heavy-handed with their insistence that Wolverine be the main character and short running time.

Ratner's direction, I actually have very little problem with. The decision over when to cut or not wasn't going to make Cyclops suddenly live. He moved the story (what there was) along at a pretty good clip and kept the action up.

I don't know who decided to remove all the bonus scenes and the original ending, but if I ever see them I'm going to fart in their general direction.

I would blame Ratner cos i feel that the movie had a poor direction....

its clearly fox, although all are to be blamed at list a little for the crapfest that is x3

A lot has changed and many people have calmed down after the many heated X3 debates over the course of its release. I still would like to see a restart but with a brand new cast and a new story to clean the slate.

I do think it would be wise to bring back Marsden for Cyclops. He fits the role, looks like him, and showed some great acting chops for the character during the climax of X2.

Fox has the rights for the X-Men for a long time and I don't see them letting anything X-Men related go for quite sometime, unless the newly formed Marvel studios manages to get blockbuster smashes with Iron Man, Hulk, and The Punisher this year.
