I'm not trying to start up here, I'm just curious for the answers to this, and perhaps we can solve what the symbiote really was in SM3.

Peter didn't need it, did he? He has webbing. Brock got a white spider symbol when he wore the symbiote. Peter didn't.

The Symbiote had claws and teeth because it had hatred for Peter and Brock had hatred for Peter. Those two combined made Venom.

Attack him earlier? When exactly? Peter got rid of it by using the bells, which sent it onto to Brock. Then he subdued it at the construction site by using the metal bars as sound barriers.

It can't fight back against sound. The bells weakened it, driving it off of him. It then immediately found it's way to Brock.
