Why are people down on spider man 3?

TC is right. On most boards I go, people are saying that this will be another X3.

Meaning positively or negative, because everyone didn't hate X3.

If negative, I would say they don't have a clue.

its funny how people assume that if someone says the movie is gonna suck than they didnt see the trailer. i saw the trailer and quite honestly im not to sure about this one. sandman looks awesome and im sure they can have alot of fun with his powers. i was not and will not ever accept topher grace as eddie brock. i will not accept harry osborn looking like some punk band reject as the "green goblin" (and i use that loosely). and i definately dont accept that venom could potentially have very little screen time and end up dying. if raimi aint gonna do it right than dont do it.

i read that script/plot summary or whatever thats been floating around. obviously no one can confirm if thats the plot or not but if it is than...i just dont know what to say...im just glad this will be the last film raimi will direct.

It's the new trend on these boards, basically. It goes from Superman all the way to here: fanboys trying to show their better fanboys than everyone else by acting like amazing movie material isn't good enough for them and thereby they must of course have such a higher fan-taste than any of us Spider-peons here.

At least that's what they're trying.

Yeah, I agree 100% with you, except the tidbit about Superman Returns, that movie was just not good at all, to many plot holes, horrible story telling, and bad acting. I agree with my old buddy Ebert on that one.

From the stuff I've looked at, people are psyched for this movie- unlike X3 or Supes which people were hating on from the beginning.

I've heard people complaining about Topher Grace being too small to be Venom and people complaining about Harry's GG2 costume- both of which don't matter in the least though. It's the character stuff that should be important and I see that being fine here, probably better than the first 2 films. I could care less about costumes, quality-wise this movie won't be a disaster in the least... looking at Raimi's themes for the Spidey films and how he represents that stuff symbolically, I think this is looking to be the strongest of the 3.

I think Raimi has done one heck of a job. I think he has developed the characters in the spider-man world more than any of us could have ever imagined. I still love watching that scene from Spider-Man 2 where Peter has to take pictures at the celebration for Jamason's son. Talk about a bad day!!

The only superhero movie that comes even close to the development of the respected characters for its world is Batman Begins.

Where are people getting this idea that venom just comes up and dies? That probally isnt true from the eddie picture with the symobite going on him. That scene is in the church which you should know could be in the middle of the film.

Also there are tons of scripts floating around actually. Ive seen some on another group that I use to be in thgat just died for no reason. It had some stupid stuff like venom drops gwen and she breaks her neck and they kill venom by a soundwave. Yeah wouldnt happen I started this thread because I saw how some people didnt like the GG2 suit. Saw some people say this movie that this movie will be like X-3. Sadly I didnt see X-3 because I knew Cyclops was going to die and it would mostly be about Wolverine and his problems which I really dont care for.

dont get me wrong. i loved both of the movies. and ive had few complaints about the changes that were made. (the horrible looking green goblin for example. looks like iron man's and norman osborne's lovechild). to me though the big "no-no" was the costume. i mean why couldnt they just leave it plain black? there was absolutely no reason for that.

that and the fact that venom should be the villain alone in the movie. he shouldnt be relegated to minimal screentime. have him come to be in spider man 3, and have him be the main threat in spiderman 4.

No fanboy is stupid enough to think it's even possible to squeeze ever comic story perfectly into a 2hr movie without some cuts to things. it's only needless changes that cause the alarms to go off.

Such as Gwen stacy making a cameo in this as a new love interest. I'm completely baffled by why she was chosen to enter here instead of the first.

if people can praise the movie before it comes out, it can certaintly be viewed the other way around as well.

im sorry but theres no reason the costume had to change. theres just no way to justify it. like i said ive dealt with all the other changes and i could be pretty critical of them but im not. so im definately not being close minded. the movies were done well but to me i just dont understand the costume change. its completely unecessary (kinda like making the goblin a friggin robot).

its hard to have faith when a simple element such as a costume is ruined, in my eyes. i mean its not gonna kill the movie for me but like i said there just wasnt any need for it. plus the series has to hit a bump in the road eventually. its ineviatable.
